of how much worse punishment, think ye, shall he be accounted worthy, who trampled under foot the Son of God, and accounted the blood of the covenant with which He was sanctified an unholy thing, and treated with contempt the Spirit of grace?

for even Christ pleased not Himself; but, as it has been written, "The reproaches of those who reproached you fell on Me."

Wherefore, Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people through His own blood, suffered without the gate. Therefore, let us go forth to Him without the camp, bearing His reproach;

And, taking the twelve aside, He said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and all the things, written through the prophets respecting the Son of Man, will be accomplished; for He will be delivered up to the gentiles, and will be mocked, and insulted, and spit upon, and they will scourge Him, and kill Him; and, on the third day, He will rise again."

And, when about to go up to Jerusalem, Jesus took with Him the twelve disciples privately, and on the way He said to them, "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the high-priests and scribes; and they will condemn Him to death; and will deliver Him up to the gentiles, to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify; and, on the third day, He will be raised up "

And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going before them. And they were being amazed: and those following Him were being terrified. And, again taking with Him the twelve, He began to tell them the things about to happen to Him: "Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man will be delivered up to the high priests, and to the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and will deliver Him up to the gentiles; and they will mock Him and will spit upon Him, and will scourge Him, and will kill Him; and after three days He will rise again."

Then did they spit in His face, and buffet Him. And others smote Him, saying, "Prophesy to us, O Christ, who is he that struck Thee?"

And some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy;" and the officers received Him with blows of their hands.

And the men who were holding Jesus were mocking Him, beating Him; and, blindfolding Him, they were questioning Him, saying, "Prophesy who he is that smote Thee." And many other things they said against Him, reviling Him.

And those passing by were reviling Him, wagging their heads, and saying, "Thou Who destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save Thyself: if Thou art the Son of God, come down from the cross." Likewise also the high priests, mocking, with the scribes and elders, were saying,read more.
"Others He saved, Himself He cannot save! King of Israel is He! let Him now come down from the cross, and we will believe on Him! He has trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now, if He desireth Him; because He said, 'I am God's Son.'" And the robbers, who were crucified with Him, were reproaching Him with the same thing.

And those passing by railed on Him, wagging their beads, and saying, "Aha! Thou Who destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days! save Thyself, coming down from the cross!" In like manner the high priests, mocking Him among themselves with the scribes, said, "He saved others; Himself He cannot save!read more.
Let the Christ, the King of Israel now come down from the cross, that we may see, and believe!" And those who were crucified with Him were reproaching Him.

And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also were scoffing at Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself! if This is the Christ of God, the Chosen!" And the soldiers also were mocking Him, coming near, and offering Him vinegar, and saying, "If Thou art the King of the Jews, save Thyself!"read more.
And there was also an inscription over Him, "THE KING OF THE JEWS, THIS!" And one of the suspended malefactors kept reviling Him, saying, "Art not Thou the Christ? Save Thyself and us!"

The Jews answered and said to Him, "Say we not well that Thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon?" Jesus answered, "I have not a demon; but I honor My Father, and ye dishonor Me.

And, when He had said this, one of the officers standing by gave Jesus a blow with a rod, saying, "Dost Thou answer the high priest thus!" Jesus answered him, "If I spake evil, testify concerning the evil; but, if well, why do you beat Me?"

Who, when reviled, reviled not again; when suffering, was not threatening, but committed Himself to Him Who judgeth righteously;

When, therefore, ye assemble yourselves together, it is not to eat a Supper of the Lord; for, in your eating, each one takes his own supper before others; and one is hungry, and another is drunken! What! have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? Or despise ye the assembly of God, and put to shame those who have them not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this I praise you not.

My brethren, hold not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. For, if there come into your synagogue a man with a gold ring, in splendid apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile apparel; and ye show regard to him who is wearing the splendid apparel, and say, "Sit here in a good place"; and say to the poor man, "Stand, or sit under my footstool";read more.
do ye not make a distinction among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? Hearken, my beloved brethren, did not God choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he promised to those who love Him? But ye dishonored the poor man! Do not the rich oppress you, and do they not drag you before the judgment-seats? Do they not blaspheme the worthy name by which ye were called?

But, when they resisted, and blasphemed, he, shaking out his garments, said to them, "Your blood be upon your own head! I am pure! Henceforth I will go to the gentiles."

If ye are reproached in Christ's name, happy are ye, because the Spirit of glory and that of God rests upon you.

And others, mocking, said, "They have been filled with new wine!"

And, hearing of the resurrection of the dead, some, indeed, were mocking; but others said, "We will hear you concerning this yet again."

And, entering into the synagogue, he was speaking boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading as to the things concerning the Kingdom of God. But, when some were hardening themselves and were disbelieving, speaking evil of the Way before the multitude, he, withdrawing from them, separated the disciples; reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus.

at which they are surprised, since ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you;

but, having suffered before, and having been shamefully treated, as ye know, in Philippi, we grew bold in our God to speak to you the Gospel of God in much conflict.

"I know your tribulation, and your poverty (but you are rich), and the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

but I say to you, Resist not the evil man; but whosoever smites you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also;

"But I say to you who hear, love your enemies; do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who revile you. "To him who smites you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, withhold not your coat also.

not returning evil for evil, or reviling for reviling; but, on the contrary, blessing; because to this end ye were called, that ye might inherit a blessing.

"Happy are ye, when they shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake. Rejoice, and exult; because great is your reward in Heaven, for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

"Happy are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from themselves, and reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man. "Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy; for, behold, your reward is great in Heaven; for, after the same manner, were their fathers wont to do to the prophets.

They, therefore, were going from the presence of the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they were accounted worthy to suffer dishonor in behalf of The Name.

Wherefore, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then am I powerful.

But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were enlightened, ye endured a great conflict of sufferings; partly, indeed, when ye were made a spectacle both with reproaches and tribulations; and partly, when ye became partakers with those who were so used; for ye both sympathized with those in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your possessions; knowing that ye yourselves have a better possession and an abiding one.

but, in so far as ye share in Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of His glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. If ye are reproached in Christ's name, happy are ye, because the Spirit of glory and that of God rests upon you.

And one of the lawyers, answering, says to Him, "Teacher, in saying these things, Thou insultest us also!"

And Paul, looking intently on the Sanhedrin, said, "Brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day." And the high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by, to smite him on the mouth. Then Paul said to him, "God is about to smite you??ou whited wall! And do you sit judging me according to the law, and, in violation of law, command me to be smitten?"read more.
And those standing by said, "Do you revile God's high priest?" And Paul said, "I knew not, brethren, that he was high priest; for it has been written, 'You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'"
