Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt?

By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish with those who were disobedient, because she had welcomed the spies.

And to whom did he swear that they would never enter his rest, but to those who were disobedient? So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Therefore let us be diligent to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience.

He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. He who does not believe God has made him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given of his Son.

The ones along the path are those who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, that they may not believe and be saved.

Now he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. Then he went around the villages teaching.

So we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest remains, let us fear lest any one of you be judged to have come short of it. For we also have had the good news preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only by faith. So do not be proud, but stand in awe.

For it is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put him to an open shame.

so that 'seeing they may see but not perceive, and hearing may hear but not understand; lest they should turn again, and be forgiven.'"

the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him, and at an hour he is not aware of, and he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.
