'Nursing' in the Bible
Jacob replied, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and I have nursing sheep and cattle. If they are driven hard for one day, the whole herd will die.
Did I conceive all these people? Did I give them birth so You should tell me, ‘Carry them at your breast, as a nursing woman carries a baby,’ to the land that You swore to give their fathers?
The fatherless infant is snatched from the breast;the nursing child of the poor is seized as collateral.
Because of Your adversaries,You have established a strongholdfrom the mouths of children and nursing infantsto silence the enemy and the avenger.
He protects His flock like a shepherd;He gathers the lambs in His armsand carries them in the fold of His garment.He gently leads those that are nursing.
“Can a woman forget her nursing child,or lack compassion for the child of her womb?Even if these forget,yet I will not forget you.
Kings will be your foster fathers,and their queens your nursing mothers.They will bow down to youwith their faces to the ground,and lick the dust at your feet.Then you will know that I am Yahweh;those who put their hope in Mewill not be put to shame.
In her, a nursing infant will no longer liveonly a few days,or an old man not live out his days.Indeed, the youth will die at a hundred years,and the one who misses a hundred years will be cursed.

Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days, for there will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
Although we could have been a burden as Christ’s apostles, instead we were gentle among you, as a nursing mother nurtures her own children.
