Conocarpus erectus
Buttonwood grows upland, on the land side of the mangrove community, tolerant of rooting in loose sand, rock, and dried marl. These trees often look very windswept, and have a dark blackish-brown bark. Silver buttonwood is often seen as an ornamental planting on the coast.
