About the Gardens
Follow patio steps into a native garden highlighted by flame bush, cannas, and passionflower beneath towering royal palms.
Stroll the palm garden with its tall clusters of paurotis palm; visit the aquatic habitat demonstration with American beauty, buttonbush, and blue flag iris along the shore.
Explore the unexpected in the Tropical Fruit Garden, where sugar palms, pineapple, and ice cream bananas vie for attention.
There are nearly two dozen distinct formal garden areas plus natural wetland and pine habitats.
Plant identification markers include water, light, and care needs of each species.
The complex includes the county extension service, Pinellas Botanical Learning Center, and Heritage Village, a complex of historical buildings shaded by tall longleaf pines.
An interpretive nature trail leads into the pine flatwoods adjoining the main parking area and main gates.
