In The Lost Girls May Day 1912, a day that haunts Missensham. The day two girls dissappeared. The day the girls were murdered.
What really happened to Iris and Nell?
The Lost Girls is an excellent historical fiction novel. Full of suspense, mystery and sisterly relationships and how a whole place can be affected by the disappearance of two sisters. I was hooked!
Thanks to Jennifer Wells and Aria for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
4 stars.

Georgina and her gang fromVixen is the first novel I have come across by Sam Michaels. It's early September, 1939 and Britain is at war with Germany. Georgina and her gang from Battersea are back.
Johnny Dymond and Victor, fellow good friends of hers and excellent workers to boot, help her out. Georgina shows her caring side and contributes to the war effort by printing ration books for London's poorest residents as well as exemption certificates for her two friends.
Georgina is a hard woman and can be known to use violence and sharp wit on more than one occasion at work to save herself and her gang. But what melts her heat are her family. Her husband Lash and three-year-old son Alfie are all she has.
Vixen is gripping mysterious and dark. Wartime London was a dangerous, hostile place.
Although Vixen is the first novel of Sam Michaels' I have reviewed, I could tell she has an amazing style of writing which transported me into the sinister and unstable world of wartime London. I was hooked on this book! I definitely need to find books 1 and 2 if I can get copies because I did feel I was coming in late and missed a lot of previous backstory and character development.
That said, the characters were well fleshed out and the settings and descriptions were vivid.

Kim is an American who feels dictated to by her parents and who wants out from being manipulated by them and sucked into their way of life.
Annie has Kim is an American who feels dictated to by her parents and who wants out from being manipulated by them and sucked into their way of life.
Annie has had a difficult past. She's from Ireland. Bubbly and outgoing, she doesn't hold back. She finds herself in Italy quite by chance after a surprise she didn't expect.
Colette is from England and is worn down after caring for her mum for years. She wants a change of scene.
The story alternates between the past ("then") and present ("now") chapters which is a simple strategy but very effective and helps the pacing which is already fast but the book is very engaging.
6 years after the three met in Positano, they ar thrown together again when Kim, who has bought a villa called La Dolce Vita, invites them to the opening of what was then a rundown ramshackle place. She now has a family. Colette's an Annie's lives have changed too.
That summer 6 years ago, the friends shared experiences and secrets that they have never forgotten.
How have things changed since they were first in Italy?
As to be expected there's plenty of sun, fun laughs, good food and sun-drenched beaches and towns. Everywhere is very atmospheric.
Melissa Hill transported me to Italy and I loved how all the characters were so different. I felt their backstories were real and was rooting for all of them.
