The Redemptress sounded interesting and I was eager to start it after the author himself contacted me and offered me the opportunity to review it.
I was captivated by the atmospheric beginning and the visuals of the ship in space. I felt I immediately wanted to be inside the ship and getting to know the characters. Adrian Bourdy wasted no time or writing in allowing me to do just that.
I liked the characters and their backstories. Jenn in particular seemed mysterious and I liked how she and Anna interacted because it was so realistic. I was concerned for them and wondering where their lives, and time on the ship, would take them.
The novel has a detailed plot, but not so much that I felt lost, which I was grateful for. It was gripping.
Thanks to Adrian Bourdy

I loved everything about the book. The way Rachel’s condition was dealt with, and how she met Dr. Dave was very realistic. What’s not to like about him? He’s good looking, hard working, passionate and has put his career on the line for those who are important to him. He has a very interesting backstory and I enjoyed learning about his backstory and his sister.
I have disabilities and could identify with Rachel’s concern over being in hospital. How and where she received her diagnosis was imaginative, and it fit into the rest of the story so well. I was shocked and saddened for her.
Rachel is tough, has a dark sense of humor and loves life. I really liked her and her friend Azzy, and how they referred to themselves as two halves of the same black heart.
Idaho and San Francisco were visual. I have not been to either place yet. Rachel feels she’s seen a lot of the hospital. She has her own issues with her family, especially her sister. The way Rachel and Azzy leave Idaho for San Francisco is realistic. Portugal was visual and immersive. I enjoyed how we got to know Rachel’s family more during their time there.
They are there for each other no matter what, and that’s what makes this book so special. How Dr. Dave is there for Rachel is realistic.
Black Heart(s) is definitely not your typical medical romance. It’s shocking, moving, heartbreaking, emotional, heartfelt and more.
Family, relationships, life, choices, living with medical conditions, fun times and sad times. It’s all here in Black Heart(s). It’s just such a beautiful book and perfectly written. It’s one of my favourites this year and I won’t be forgetting it anytime soon.
Calliope Daniels is a new-to-me author, and I loved the way that a chapter of her debut novel was included after Black Heart(s) ended.
Thanks to Calliope Daniels.

I have heard of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and I have found articles and TV shows about it, which have been very informative.
Debra's memoir was immediately immersive. I was concerned for her and sad about her accident and diagnosis.
I enjoyed every part of the book. Her rehab in different places was detailled and I liked meeting others in rehab and I was concerned for them. They were all realistically portrayed characters who I felt for.
I was concerned for Debra at every stage of the book, and was so glad she had her dogs. I liked the fact they were rescue dogs, and how she showed each of their personalities. It's she was as important to them as they were to her, which was lovely to witness.
I enjoyed what happened after Debra finally left rehab, and was happy when she came home. It was interesting to experience through her everything she'd been through.
All Shook Up: Finding Purpose After Traumatic Brain Injury is a heartfelt, emotional book to learn from. Debra has a gift for telling her story that shines through. The book is incredibly powerful and memorable.

Subtle but important details, like a small camera being hidden in the security agent’s clothes, or the sliding into place of bullet-proof glass, make its already-immersive storyline even more so. These details also give some idea as to how the U.S. Government protect the First Lady.
I enjoyed First Lady Eva’s backstory. I admired Stephanie’s professionalism as she worked with her.
The action is non-stop. I missed the first part of this story. It wasn’t hard to understand coming in on part two, but I hope to get part one to have the part I missed, and to fill in the gaps in the story for me.

It is, but it’s also a very heartfelt book, given that it deals with gritty issues in the lives of both of the female MCs. I really liked Maud. She’s been through a lot, with losing her husband and then her brother. I thought her job on the boat in the Caribbean was eye opening and I liked the way she met Warren.
I was wondering if things would work out for her in Ireland, and felt she was brave to move there. I liked her childhood memories that were scattered throughout her chapters.
Kate is another interesting character, but has a radically different backstory from Maud’s. This helped in making them well created characters.
Cake by the Ocean is emotional, exciting. heartbreaking, heartwarming and unforgettable.

I felt immediately invested in Rachel's story. The author goes deep into her relationship and feelings, and this makes the book emotional. I was concerned for her and her marriage.
I was proud of her for always fighting for what she wanted. I was wondering how her journey to London would go. I love any mention of London, since I was born there.
Meeting Rena was unexpected for her. How will that and being in London change her life?
I love that Rachel isn't frightened to take risks and goes to London despite what her husband thinks.
It's interesting to find out what happens to the other characters.
The Space Between Secrets made me wondeer what motivates us to keep secrets? There are secrets and lies here.
The Space Between Secrets is a book I am glad to have discovered.
It was my pick for Book Lover's Day 2024.

I was excited for her birthday celebration and then shocked at what happened.
I felt immersed in the story all the way through.
Bri’s medical backstory was interesting and I also wanted her mother to be OK. The insight into her hospital stay and brain damage was very sensitively done.
Bri's friends were great people, and I liked how they wanted to help her out.
Wales was realistically portrayed.
The author does a great job of raising awareness for Bri's condition of cleft palate and her difficult birth, as well as her mother's brain injury and memory loss.

Confuse the Wind is told in an open way that really let me in on the family's life, struggles, hopes and fears. It's very honest and is a beautiful memoir I am happy to have found.
Rachel Stolzman Gullo has a great writing style that is informative and gripping. I liked Confuse the Wind so much that I'd love to review more books by her.
