Stormguard Citadel Dig Site is a dig site that players can visit in the Archaeology skill. The citadel is a former aviansie levitating fortress and laboratory that could be found several miles above the surface of Gielinor. Upon reaching level 70 Archaeology, a Stormguard Citadel invitation is awarded, directing the player to the dig site. The entrance is located at the Temple of Ikov.
Outside the portal leading to the Citadel, players can find Ikovian memorial excavation hotspots that require the assistant qualification to dig at. To gain access to the Citadel itself, players need a restored Ikovian gerege from the hotspot. Once inside, players can excavate at the Ikovian memorial sites inside the citadel to have a chance to obtain the Boots of Flight. These are necessary to traverse further into the citadel. At level 76, players can repair the wingsuit v1 and upgrade it a total of two times; the first upgrade allows players to move past the lightning conductors, while the second allows the gravitational core at the centre of the citadel to be used as long as a restored Stormguard gerege is in the inventory or tool belt. If players fly out of the citadel's bounds, the wingsuit will malfunction and players will crash back down to the surface portal; no damage is taken.
Additionally, various Stormguard portals are used to quickly travel the gaps between islands. At level 95, players can restore a Stormguard gerege (damaged). Both the wingsuit v3 and the restored Stormguard gerege are required to access Howl's Floating Workshop where the player can learn how to manufacture Ancient Invention blueprints.

History
Like the Clan Citadels of today, the aviansie made use of floating islands to mimic their life back on Abbinah.
Armadyl, who had knowledge of the citadel, stated that its original purpose was for alchemical study and innovations to improve the quality of life for the aviansie. Following his participation in the God Wars however, the focus quickly shifted to creating advanced weapons, and an artificial weather defence system was implemented as a means of protection.
Access was strictly monitored, with some areas being closed off to those with the improper credentials. It houses a gravitational core that is responsible for keeping the islands afloat, and allows the boots of flight and wingsuits to work in the near proximity.
Because the research performed in the citadel was extremely confidential, the aviansie working in the citadel were assigned codenames to keep their identities a secret, should they be captured by their enemies. The most famous among them was an aviansie inventor who went by the name Howl.
The citadel was eventually destroyed in the aftermath of the destruction of Forinthry by Zamorak during the God Wars near the end of the Third Age; an incident that left no survivors.[1] This resulted in the citadel fracturing into several islands, although they were still kept in place by the gravitational core.
In the Sixth Age, archaeologists at the Temple of Ikov found a design of the citadel and sent it to Guildmaster Tony, who plans to find it.[2] Further investigation soon discovered a portal above the Temple of Ikov that allowed access to the citadel.
Areas
Recreation
Recreation is the main area inside the citadel. It is formed of multiple islands that host the Stormguard Citadel - Welcome area excavation site, Stormguard Citadel - Keshik memorial excavation site, and Stormguard Citadel - Relay station excavation site in the middle set of islands, Stormguard Citadel - Research & Development north-east excavation site in the northern set of islands, Stormguard Citadel - Research & Development north-west excavation site in the western set of islands, Stormguard Citadel - Research & Development south-west excavation site in the south-western set of islands, and Stormguard Citadel - Research & Development south-east excavation site in the southern set of islands.
The war golem arm that can be studied to unlock The Aetherium Giant research can be found in the middle of the south-western set of islands.
Materials carts can be found in the middle, western, and south-eastern sets of islands, with archaeologists next to them and excavating some of the excavation hotspots.
Famine can be found south-east of the Stormguard Citadel - Relay station excavation site.
Dayguard Tower
Dayguard Tower is located in the south-eastern part of the citadel, and it hosts the Stormguard Citadel - Dayguard tower excavation site.
Nightguard Tower
Nightguard Tower is located in the north-western part of the citadel, and it hosts the Stormguard Citadel - Nightguard tower excavation site.
Howl's workshop
Howl's workshop hosts the Stormguard Citadel - Howl's workshop excavation site.
A drafting bench and some theoretical blueprints can be found here, which can be studied to unlock the Back to the Drawing Board and Howling Man special research, respectively.
Getting around
Stormguard portals allow players to quickly teleport between locations within the citadel, while bridge edges allow players to use the various wingsuits to travel between them. Lightning posts floating in the sky define an area that can't be crossed without the wingsuit v2.
Accessing Howl's workshop requires both wingsuit v3 and a Stormguard gerege in tool belt to access via the gravitational core.
