Dreadfowl

A Dreadfowl is a familiar requiring level 4 Summoning and a Dreadfowl pouch to summon. It is the strongest familiar available to free players (it has a higher defence and health compared to a spirit wolf, but with the same max hit and duration). Players may interact with it to obtain a +1 boost to their Farming skill. This does not stack with any other Farming boost (for example, from a Garden pie).

A Dreadfowl pouch is made by using a Summoning pouch on a Summoning obelisk with 8 spirit shards, a Gold charm and a Raw chicken in the player's inventory. Making the pouch earns 9.3 experience points. Using the pouch to summon a Dreadfowl gains 0.1 experience points, and costs 10 Summoning points. It only has a summoning time of 16 minutes, tied lowest with several other low-level familiars.

If players exchange their Dreadfowl pouches with Bogrog, they will receive 6 shards per pouch. Buying the raw chickens on the G.E. is not recommended due to time and expense. A recommended way of getting raw chicken is going to Canifis and buying raw chicken from the food store for around 60 coins each. If the shop runs out of stock you can not switch worlds to obtain more stock. Raw chickens can also be obtained from the crates in the back room of Wydin's food store at Port Sarim. You must have a white apron equipped and partial completion of Pirate's Treasure in order to gain access to the back room. The raw chickens can easily be banked at the Deposit box on the pier going to Entrana. While free, this method can be considered tedious because the player must go through a chat dialogue each time he withdraws a separate chicken. You may even consider going and killing some chickens by yourself if you only need few.

Dreadfowl scroll (Dreadfowl Strike)[edit | edit source]

Dreadfowl Strike is the special move for the Dreadfowl, which can hit up to 51 life points damage with a long-range, magic-based attack. It is activated using a Dreadfowl scroll (Dreadfowl Strike) and uses 3 special move points. Activating it gives 0.1 experience. A Dreadfowl will occasionally use this special attack without a scroll. The special move has very low probability to attack twice at the same time. A different animation and sound is heard.

A player activates the scroll.

The Evil Chicken random event (Discontinued) used to have the evil chicken doing a more powerful version of this.

Dreadfowl scroll (Dreadfowl Strike) enables the use of the Dreadfowl Strike special move for a Dreadfowl. Using the pouch on a Summoning obelisk creates 10 scrolls and gives 0.1 experience.
