An orange feather is an item which, along with all coloured feathers gathered from the Hunter skill, can be used in place of regular white feathers with the Fletching skill. Despite the difference, bolts and arrows created still come out with white feathers and have no extra properties. They can be used for fly fishing.

Additionally, an orange feather headdress can be created by adding 20 orange feathers to a studded leather coif with level 79 Crafting.

It is drop from the copper longtail bird caught using the Hunter skill. Level 9 Hunting and at least one bird snare are needed to catch these birds in the Piscatoris Hunter area. It is also a drop from pheasants in McGrubor's Wood.

They can be sold at the Fancy Dress Shop in Varrock for 4 coins each.

  1. ^ The type of feather dropped is randomly chosen; only one type of feather is dropped at a time. The number of feathers dropped is related to the number of tail feathers the pheasant has.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Originally, copper longtail feathers were brown feathers. At some point, they were renamed to orange feathers to better match the colour of the birds they came from. Before this change, orange feathers were already an existing item obtained from golden warblers. To avoid confusion, their feathers were also renamed, to yellow feathers.
