A Sword Polishing Kit can be purchased in a set of ten from Egil in the Artisans' Workshop for 1% Respect. Each kit will prevent a ceremonial sword from being broken while smithing in the Artisans' Workshop. When consumed, it displays the message "You broke the sword! You were able to patch it up with a sword polishing kit, so you can keep working on it.".

A sword breaks if you make a dent larger than 8 at the tip, or 6 at anywhere else. If this happens with a Sword Polishing Kit in your inventory, it is consumed and the offending point is set to a dent of 8 or 6 respectively, consuming cooldown as normal.
