Talk:Slayer points
No 7th slayer block @ 350 QP[edit source]
Mod Cuppa has said (http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/a=13/sl=0/forums.ws?15,16,612,65333001,11,330585871#11): "The Carnillean Rising post-quest content is extended to meet the new 350 Quest Point limit but currently we are not extending the Slayer Ban list by a further slot. This may change in future as the skill expands and balancing warrants it but there are currently no plans to alter this." Jalal93 (talk)
What to skip[edit source]
I would like to know which tasks to permanently remove. If anyone could post what they believe to be the worst tasks here (based on how frequently it is assigned and how slow the experience is), and why, that would be great. I don't care about drops, just experience. --75.36.170.187 07:13, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
I will remove jungle horrors if I ever get them again. They spawn to far apart so it takes too long to do the task, resluting in really slow xp. AND their drops suck.--Varthlokkur 07:24, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Collecting Points[edit source]
I got the idea that points could only be collected after completing Smoking Kills. That is why I only added Duradel's level requirements to the table, since to collect points players would already be able to use Turael, Mazchana, Vannaka, Chaedlar and Sumona, due to the requirement of 85 combat to start Smoking Kills. Correct me if I'm wrong. - Gaz Lloyd 22:51, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
First four tasks[edit source]
Is there difference (in terms of points) on which slayer master are done the slayer tasks before the 5th one? Golduin 12:50, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which slayer master you use for the first four tasks (except Turael, since he does not count towards the first four tasks), as whichever one you use will give no points. Use Mazchana for quick and easy tasks, and use Duradel for the most experience and best dropping monsters. Gaz Lloyd 18:38, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, it went faster to use an easy one for the four needed. I did vannaka because he was so close to a tele spot.--Varthlokkur 07:22, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Is there a limit?[edit source]
Is there a limit to the amount of points you can get? I'm not sure.
- Someone posted on the forums that they reached a max at 64011. (Link removed due to thread no longer existing)

Skipping a task[edit source]
When you skip a task does it reset the number completed in a row, or does it just skip them, and go right on ahead with the countdown? The article isn't exactly clear on that. Never mind, figured it out myself, apparently it keeps going with the count. Should probably mention that it may be worth skipping tasks if you are close to a milestone, or at least that it keeps your "winning-streak" going instead of just ending it, but allowing you to earn points, just to be perfectly clear... Learned Skills[edit source]
I seem to remember that some of the learned skills are permanent, and some are one-time-only. Can anybody verify which is which, and put it in the article? --Sw0rd1804 20:32, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
Order of buying[edit source]
In what order should I preferably buy the abilites? Pcnerd007 07:26, July 4, 2011 (UTC)
Max points[edit source]
I don't understand how the limit could be 64,011. If we were to say that it was 16bit, that would mean a max of 65,535. The current proposed limit has no computation basis. This means that Jagex went out of their way to make the limit some random number (unlikely), something else is using the rest of the space in that storage location (highly unlikely), or that number is incorrect. Dsctatom 08:15, July 19, 2011 (UTC)
- I suspect that whenever the number of slayer points exceeds 64,000, players are told that they've reached the maximum number. In the case that's pictured, that number happened to be 64,011, but it could have just as easily been 64,001 (or maybe even 64,000). We'd need more players to reach the maximum and submit their data to know for sure. --Saftzie (talk) 05:21, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
- @Saftzie - You've missed the point of the original reply. The number would not be set as any numebr such as 64000 as RuneScape is written on Java programming. This would mean that the number of maximum points is likely to be set as an int or a double value. More likely to be an int, this carries a maximum value of 2^16 = 65536. It as all based on binary to set the possible storage of the memory location for slayer reward points. The suggested limit of 64,011 or even for it to be rounded to 64,000 is non sensical as it would take Jagex more time to write this program than just to define it as a standard dize of variable. It is more likely to be 65536.
- Since one can earn a "chunk" of slayer points in one go, it makes sense to issue a warning at some point below 65535 (not 65536 which would be zero, precisely the problem that we want to avoid). While the maximum number you can receive in one hit right now is 270 points, it makes sense to have significant head-room, since the game could change (this is called defensive programming). This means that you don't penalize a player when awarding the chunk that takes them past 64,000, they just need to spend some before they can get any more. Rich Farmbrough, 20:36 16 April 2012 (UTC).
- To add to Rich's comment its likely that the true figure is 64000 and the extra 11 are simply the overspill. ie they had 63993 before then gained 18 points from Kuradal. The limit would be no points can be gained after 64000 however since 63993 was under they recieved the 18 points, then wouldn't be able to claim any more.
- Of course the only way to prove this would be for someone to gain exactly 64000 points.

Blocking Assignments?[edit source]
Is there not any information on this page that talks about "blocking"? Puretppc (talk) 06:14, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
- There is; it is part of the Rewards table, under the row header "Assignment". IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 06:30, December 13, 2014 (UTC)
About slayer preferred tasks[edit source]
The chance of getting any preferred task is (ΣWp/ΣW)(2-ΣWp/ΣW), or the 2P(X)-P(X)^2, where the P(X) is the probabilty of getting a preferred task on your first roll.
This means that the individual advantage for each task reduces with each preferred task. That said, it is still a good idea to prefer as many good tasks as you are able to.88.97.99.61 09:04, August 21, 2015 (UTC)
The Raptor's task point[edit source]
At Slayer level 117, I gained 17 points from the Raptor's task. Icejash18 (talk) 10:49, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- Gained 255 points after completed 450 tasks in a row at Slayer level 117. Icejash18 (talk) 11:30, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
Metal Raider (talk) 20:57, 12 September 2023 (UTC): I am doing Reaper asignments for a Heroes Pass task and I am receiving 14 slayer points at 84 slayer, with the first trophy mounted. Maybe this page needs editing that part but I thought better to discuss it here.
I got 5 points for one task and 75 for the 50th at 62 Slayer (I made sure I was next to the 50th task to check both at the same level). Seems likely it uses the 1/5/15 ratio for 1/10/50th task like other masters, but if you get 5 points at 62, 13 points at 84, and 17 points at 117 the scaling couldn't be linear making it a lot harder to find. Kuisymurid (talk) 18:01, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
- 25 at a 10th task, level 65. Kuisymurid (talk) 16:32, 21 September 2023 (UTC)
- 27 at a 10th task, level 74...this seems to not conform to the usual ratio. Double checked, no trophy. The next task is still 5 points. Kuisymurid (talk) 07:36, 27 September 2023 (UTC)
- 30 at a 10th task, level 76. 6 points per task at level 77. 90 for a 50th at level 78. Kuisymurid (talk) 08:54, 29 September 2023 (UTC)
- Increased to 7 points for a task with only skeleton mounted, and then also 7 with skeleton and zombie mounted. This seems to indicate that not only Smoking Kills affects regular Slayer points, it also affects the trophies. Kuisymurid (talk) 10:41, 1 October 2023 (UTC)
- Yep, doubled to 14 at level 80 after Smoking Kills. Kuisymurid (talk) 05:50, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
I have Smoking Kills completed and all 3 trophies, and at level 90 slayer, I got 16 points for completing an assignment. The page definitely needs edited.Thetonestarr (talk) 16:52, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
