Unstable rift is used in the Distraction and Diversion Guthixian Cache to deposit memories collected nearby. Ancient, confused, and enraged automatons will often be found scattered along the paths to the rift, trying to break the memories that the players are carrying.

During Twilight of the Gods it can be simply used to exit the cache.
