LEGO's Difficult Beginnings
LEGO started with low sales and a lot of its items were returned from vendors. Wooden toys dominated the market, and this wasn't easy to change. A few years later, LEGO designed the new lego bricks. The new bricks easily snapped together, were smaller and more colourful. Gradually they gained popularity and became a global sensation.
Meaning of the Word LEGO
Have you ever wondered what the word "LEGO" means? It's not the name of one of the owners, nor is it short for "Let's go". In fact, it is a combination of the two Danish words "Leg" (to play) and "Godt" (well), something like "play well". LEGO can also be interpreted from Latin as "I put together".

Do you know how many LEGO bricks are produced a year? No? We didn't think so. It's hard to believe, but it's about twenty billion bricks or 600 pieces per second.
