Margaret Anglin (born April 3, 1876, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada—died January 7, 1958, Toronto, Ontario) was one of the most brilliant actresses of her day, equally effective in Greek tragedies, Shakespearean plays, and contemporary dramas. After a brief study of acting in New York City, she made her debut (1894) in Bronson C. Howard’s Shenandoah. She achieved stardom in 1898 as Roxane in Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac. She was also a great success in William Vaughn Moody’s Great Divide, which ran for almost three years (1906–08) in New York City.
