Amy Adams has candidly shared that she struggled to cope in the early months of motherhood and was so burned out that she would resort to crying in the closet.
The Enchanted actress, 50, shares 14-year-old daughter Aviana with artist husband Darren Le Gallo, also 50.
In Amy's latest role in the upcoming film Nightb***h, she plays an artist who fears she is turning into a dog as she pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom.
Opening up about her own experience of becoming a mother in 2010, Amy revealed that she felt overwhelmed in her desperation to be 'good at everything.'
'One of the things I really deeply identified with was not wanting to share with people that you were struggling, wanting to be like, "No, I've got it under control. I can do it."
'Wanting so badly to be good at everything.'
Amy divulged that she fell apart in 2011 while she was filming The Muppets and doing promo for The Fighter.
'I wasn't sleeping because I was up with her at night,' she said.

'I was tired, but also, I felt so different. I know the world didn't see me differently. But I felt it very internally that something had shifted.'
Talking to People, Amy added that everything started to fall apart, explaining: 'I wasn't communicating what I really needed.'
'Just burning the candle at both ends until you can only do that for so long, and doing what I call closet crying,' she shared.
'You never want anybody to see you cry, so I would cry in the closet, which just paints such a sad picture, but I don't think I'm alone in that.'
Nightb***h is set for release in US theaters on December 6.
A synopsis for the film describes the main character as 'an artist who pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom as she seeks a new chapter in her life and encounters exactly that when her nightly routine takes a surreal turn, and her maternal instincts begin to manifest in canine form.'
'As she embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a dog,' the summary continued.
Amy's daughter Aviana made her red carpet debut in September at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival alongside both parents.

Darren celebrated Aviana's 14th birthday by sharing a sweet tribute post in May
The trio posed for photos together, with actress Amy stunning in a low-cut, off-the-shoulder, midnight blue Prada gown that clung to her trim figure.
Earlier this year, Darren posted a sweet tribute to their daughter in celebration of her 14th birthday.
In May, the actor uploaded a photo of Aviana posing by the beach.
Alongside the picture, he said: 'Happy Birthday to my 14yr old - where does the time go?
'I'm so very proud of you. What a gift it is to watch you grow into the young woman you're becoming. #grateful.'
In the snap, Aviana's blonde locks were swept up into a ponytail as she lightly touched the ends while looking off into the distance.
She wore and off the shoulder knitted navy and white sweater paired with gold earrings and layered necklaces.
