Nicole Kidman admits she didn't want 'nepo baby' daughter to start modeling weeks after teen faced catwalk backlash

  • Sunday Rose, 16, opened the Miu Miu catwalk show during Paris Fashion Week
  • But the teen's runway debut was savaged by social media users
  • Now, her famous mom has admitted that she advised against it at first

Nicole Kidman has revealed that she didn't want daughter Sunday Rose, 16, to walk in the Miu Miu fashion show at first - weeks after the teen faced intense criticism over her participation in the event.

Sunday, who Nicole shares with husband Keith Urban, opened the Miu Miu Paris Womenswear Spring-Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week in October.

But her runway debut was savaged by harsh social media users who critiqued her walk afterwards.

Now, her famous mom, 57, has weighed in on her daughter's controversial appearance, and she admitted that she had advised against it at first.

During a recent chat with Hollywood Reporter, the actress was asked 'what it was like as a mom' to see Sunday walk in her first fashion show.

She explained that when Sunday approached her about the opportunity, her first reaction was, 'Oh no, I don't think so.'

But designer Miuccia Prada was adamant about having the teen in her show, so Nicole agreed.

'That’s all driven by her. Me going, "Oh no, I don’t think so,"' the Babygirl actor explained.

'But Miuccia just loved her and was like, “No, I want her.” And Miuccia is so powerful as a woman. So that was a good match.'

Nicole added that she had known Miuccia since she was 23 years old, so she trusted her expertise.

Sunday strutted on the catwalk in a white sleeveless dress with a ribbon embellishment from the Italian haute couture label, which she paired with grey leg-warmers and black peep-toe heels.

But people were quick to slam her online, with one person suggesting she take runway lessons, and another complaining that too many nepo babies think they can model.

'Try painting or acting instead. This is not for her,' one TikTok user suggested, as another commenter agreed, 'Oh please why be a model? Wo many other things to do.'

'I can hear the heels slapping the floor,' another person critiqued.

'Stop hiring average looking nepo babies who can't walk! We need the hungry unknown girls from developing countries who are naturally STUNNING,' a different fashion fan said.

Someone else chimed in, 'This is unfair to girls who don't have famous parents. This girl is no model.'

Afterwards, Sunday's father Keith spoke about her modeling debut to People Magazine, and he said that while he was 'very proud' of his daughter, he wanted to make sure she didn't fall behind on her schoolwork amid her new career.

'Hopefully we can just help her keep balance with everything through all of that,' he said.

'Hopefully she'll benefit by having two parents that know about a certain amount of celebrity.'

Keith added, 'It's all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period. It's about trying to keep a balance. It's all a process, but I think balance is key.

'Keeping her firmly with schoolwork and structure and everything balanced in its place is key.'
