Texas grandmother, 106, 'brutally murdered by her grandson' in her own home

A young man allegedly murdered his 106-year-old grandmother in her own home while he was staying with her.

Cecilia Agnes Ferguson was found dead in her house in Amarillo, Texas, on November 26 after police were called and told she died.

When officers arrived at the house on Northeast 14th Street, they concluded her death to be suspicious and called in homicide detectives.

Suspicion quickly fell on her grandson, Michael Alexander Ferguson, 35, who was living with her at the time.

He denied any involvement Cecilia's death, but was arrested and charged with causing injury to the elderly.

A month later, after a more thorough investigation, Ferguson was charged with murder on Monday and new arrest warrant.

Ferguson was jailed for two years in 2013 for assaulting two relatives in the space of a year, but had stayed out of legal trouble since his release other than an arrest (pictured) for traffic crimes in 2021

He was locked up in the Potter County Detention Center at the request of prosecutors at the Potter County District Attorney’s Office.

Police did ot give any information about how Cecilia died, or what tied Ferguson to the crime other than living with her.

The murder investigation is onging and police asked for anyone with information to contact them.
