Ricky Pearsall scores first NFL touchdown just 71 days after being shot

Ricky Pearsall's comeback to the gridiron likely now feels complete as he scored his first NFL touchdown just 71 days after being shot.

The 49ers wide receiver was shot during a robbery attempt in San Francisco in late August, sustaining a bullet wound to the chest during the altercation and was in serious-but-stable condition.

The shooting occurred nine days before what was to be his NFL debut against the New York Jets

Pearsall reportedly targeted over his Rolex watch. The 23-year-old Arizona native did not play for the 49ers until October 20 due to his recovery.

Pearsall's first touchdown comes in his third NFL game, a 46-yard scamper and score on a pass from Brock Purdy.

The teenager accused of shooting Pearsall in the chest last weekend allegedly carried a gun into his high school the prior week, DailyMail.com has learned.

A police report in the 17-year-old’s hometown in Tracy, California, confirmed the prior incident took place on August 21 at Stein High School, an alternative school for students who’ve had trouble in the district’s general population.

Pearsall coming back to health addresses a need for the 49ers with star wideout Brandon Aiyuk done for the season with an injury.

The 49ers' disappointing start to their season has not cost them yet, as they enter Sunday only a half-game out of the NFC West division lead.
