Celtic superfan Sir Rod Stewart, 77, dons the club's kit as he prepares to watch their first match of the season while he soaks up the sun in Portofino

He's one of the Scottish team's biggest supporters. 

And Sir Rod Stewart made sure he still supported his beloved football team while enjoying some downtime in Portofino with his gorgeous wife Penny Lancaster.

The rocker, 77, donned his personalised Celtic strip on Sunday ahead of the clubs first match of the season against Aberdeen - which saw the hoops win 2-0.

The Maggie May hitmaker teamed the top with a pair of white denim shorts and sported a gold chain with a ring on the end around his neck. 

Rod showed his 1.1 million Instagram followers that he has two Celtic flags stuck to the window of his five star hotel room.

Meanwhile former model Penny, 55, posted a short clip to her Instagram Stories showing a third flag hung at the top of the yacht they spent the day on which overlooked the gorgeous harbour.

The Do You Think I'm Sexy singer revealed in an interview with Talksport last year how his father's influence turned him into a member of the Tartan Army.

He explained how it was that as an Englishman, he has become a diehard Scotland and Celtic fan.

Sir Rod was born in Highgate, North London and grew up in the UK capital. His father Robert, was Scottish.

He lived in Scotland with his English wife Elsie and their first four children were born there.

It comes after the singer put on an energetic display as he danced across the stage while performing in Toronto, Ontario, on Tuesday evening.

Rod put on a suave display in a dazzling silver suit as he showed off his dance moves on the Budweiser Stage.

His glittering metallic suit was made up of patterned trousers and a matching blazer, and a crisp white shirt adorned with embroidered flames.

Rod completed his eye-catching outfit with a pair of sparkling silver trainers, while he wore his silver locks in his signature spiked style.

The rock star was seen belting out his popular hits and energetically dancing across the stage as he visited Toronto as part of his US tour. 

He gave the rock n' roll hand-horns gesture and pointed to the audience while he showed off his impressive dance moves.

On stage, Rod was supported by an array of female musicians and was seen holding out the microphone to the audience for them to belt out his tracks.

The Maggie May hitmaker is currently putting on an array of dazzling performances as part of his North American tour.

He is next set to take to the stage in Michigan on Friday night, followed by show-stopping performances in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York later in August.
