'There's not an ounce of originality': Harry Potter fans rage over 'pointless and lazy' detail in new TV adaptation announcement
Harry Potter fans were left irked on Wednesday in the wake of an announcement that JK Rowling's Wizarding World would be made into a TV show.
Warner Bros made the announcement on Wednesday that each season of the show, which is to be executive produced by the author, will be based on one of the magical books in the franchise and will run over a decade long period.
However the series will feature an entirely new cast from the eight films, which originally starred Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) in the lead roles.
Despite a new cast, the video teaser of the announcement revealed that the logo, which was designed by illustrator Mary GrandPré and used over 23 years ago, in the books, films and many official projects, will remain the same.
The divisive nature of the TV series news was only further enhanced when fans grumbled about the 'unoriginal' use of the logo.
