Taylor Swift fans went into meltdown after Beyonce was officially named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.
Swift, 34, has had a record-breaking career with her The Eras Tour becoming the highest grossing concert series of all time and becoming the biggest-selling artist of the 21st century - with fans expecting her to be a shoe-in for the top spot.
However Swift landed at number two on the list, with Billboard anointing the Crazy In Love star 43, with the coveted title due to her 'full 25 years of influence, evolution and impact.'
They wrote: 'While Taylor Swift is the century’s biggest pop star by the numbers — from album sales to streams to touring dominance — our editorial staff has chosen Beyoncé as our No. 1 Greatest Pop Star of the Century.'
Fans were left incensed over the perceived snub, with one writing: 'Taylor had more impact in the last 5 years than Beyoncé in her whole career ×5.
A second typed: 'influence evolution and impact are all 3 words that describe taylor btw!' while a third wrote: 'In other words, because Taylor was 15, Beyoncé had the advantage.. what type of publication is this.'

'When we say the real greatest pop star of the century'
'So f*****g annoying ttpd was the most streamed album on apple, Taylor was the most streamed artist and billie Eilish won apple artist of the year? Billboard can mention how absolutely amazing taylor is and how much better she is than Beyoncé but still not give her best pop star/
'even billboard says taylor is the greatest of this generation recently like they just did but for some reason put beyoncé first and then talked about how great taylor is after like girl.
Others praised the decision and praised Billboard for honoring Beyonce's legacy: 'No one has been able to have the type of staying power Beyoncé has been able to have over the past three decades. And for that alone, she’s the biggest artist alive. [CLOSED]
'Beyoncé is Billboard’s #1 pop star of the 21st century for good reason. Over 25 years, she’s broken records, dominated charts, sparked debates, uplifted communities, and influenced generations. More than a pop star, she’s a cultural force!
'i think we all agree that these women are both extremely and truly talented and we love them both.'
Last week Swifties went ballistic on social media after learning that Billboard ranked her the second greatest pop star of the 21st century.

After bestowing her the covetable title, the outlet recognized that the inevitable controversy that would 'tear through the internet over her being just one small space below No. 1 is just another testament to her power.'
While defending their decision not to give Swift the top spot, which will presumably go to musical powerhouse Beyoncé, Billboard reminded readers that Swift got a 'much later' start in the millennium in both 'the genre and music in general.'
Still, Swifties were, as expected, enraged by the editorial decision made by Billboard's staff, who undertook the difficult task of ranking the top 25 greatest pop stars of the 21st century.
Underneath the announcement on Instagram, a number of Swift fans expressed their outrage as they referred to the list as a 'joke' and firmly insisted the Fortnight hitmaker had been 'robbed.'
'This is pathetic and should ACTUALLY be corrected,' one commented. 'Who approved this list? First of all, yalls bs lists are always unbelievably inaccurate.'
