Fleetwood Mac's Lindsey Buckingham reveals scary police mistake after alleged stalker contacted 911

Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac fame is seeking a long-term restraining order against an alleged stalker.

InTouch is reporting that Buckingham, 75, is requesting long-term court-ordered protection against a woman named Michelle, 53, who he claims has been stalking and harassing him and his family for three years. He has already been granted a temporary restraining order against her.

Buckingham claimed that police were sent to his house after they received a 911 call informing them his son William, 26, wanted to harm himself. The caller also claimed they heard gunshots.

Police handcuffed Buckingham before learning the allegations made in the 911 call were 'fictitious'. The musician says the number that contacted emergency services was traced to Michelle's phone.

While detailing the incident, which occurred on November 3, Buckingham says he was sleeping at his home when 'nearly a dozen policepersons' woke him up.

'When I answered the door, I was handcuffed and asked to step outside of my house. The reason given was that a 911 call had been received stating that my son William was in my house and [wanting to harm himself] and that the caller had heard gunshot,' he described.

'After about twenty minutes of the police searching my house and me outside in the cold handcuffed, I was let back into my house, shaken and fearful,' he explained.

Police released him from the handcuffs once they realized the claims made in the 911 call were fake.

'I now know that the 911 call was traced to [Michelle’s] phone and was the latest in an unabated pattern of harassment and threatening acts against my family and me,' he continued.

The November 3 incident occurred after police warned Michelle to stay away from Buckingham's home after she showed up on September 19.

Michelle now must remain 100 yards away from Lindsey, his wife Kristen Messner, and their son William, per the temporary restraining order.

The order will remain in place until a hearing scheduled for December 20. At the hearing, Buckingham will be able argue for a permanent restraining order.

Lindsey alleges the troubles with Michelle first started after she acquired his wife's cell phone number and proceeded to call dozens of times a day.

Lindsey says Michelle believes she is his daughter and that she has threatened him and his family.

She left Kristen 'long drawn-out messages that included the claim that she was my child and threats to kill me and my family.'

Lindsey said Kristen also 'blamed me for facial deformities she apparently suffered as a child and demanded money'.

The musician has denied being Michelle's father and that he even knew her: 'I do not know [Michelle] and I am not her father.'

Police told Michelle to cease the harassment in 2022 and Buckingham thought that was the end of it and decided against taking legal action against her.

But Buckingham learned this year that Michelle allegedly had never stopped contacting the family. His son William told him Michelle had been calling him since 2021 but he had been ignoring the calls the entire time.

It wasn't until Michelle made her re-entry this year that William eventually told his father about her attempts at contact.

Michelle first made her presence known when Buckingham and his spouse were sent a picture collage depicting photos of his face and Michelle's face. The collage was attached to the front of their mailboxes.

Then on September 19 she allegedly turned up to one of his residences but she was chased off in her car by LAPD and warned by them not to return. The November 3 incident involving the fake 911 call claims then followed.

A detective with the LAPD has been investigating the matter and learned about Michelle's 'history of harassment' during a September meeting with Kristen, InTouch previously reported.

Michelle allegedly admitted to dialing 911 and making up the claims during a phone conversation with the detective.

Michelle was allegedly warned to cease her behavior by the detective or else she could face charges. The detective thinks Michelle is 'mentally unstable and dangerous' and also recommended that the court move forward with granting Buckingham the restraining order.

'I am very fearful that Michelle … without restraining, will continue this conduct which continues to make me and my family fear for our safety and peace. I am afraid her conduct may escalate into something physically dangerous to me and my family,' Buckingham said in a declaration.

Lindsey has been married to Kristen since 2000 and they share son William and daughters LeeLee, 24, and Stella, 20.

She filed for divorce from him 2021 but three months after the filing Buckingham revealed they had pumped the brakes on the divorce.

Speaking with People, he said they had been 'working' on their marriage.

'Relationships in the long term can be challenging, and they have their ups and downs,' he told People. 'You’ve got to take that ride and be willing to take it.'
