Coronation Street FIRST LOOK: Gail Platt's house is boarded up after devastating fire rips through her home - with explosive New Year's scenes set to air after her emotional exit

New Coronation Street pictures show the Platt household boarded up after a devastating fire rips through it in scenes to air in the New Year.

Last month, the abode was seen with smoke billowing out of it as the ITV soap filmed dramatic scenes in what will be an explosive start to 2025 - just weeks after Gail Platt's exit.

And now the catastrophic after-effects of the fire can be seen, with images showing the windows and doors all boarded up, while the roof is covered with tarpaulin.

Much of the façade of the home is covered with charred marks showing where black smoke and flames ripped through the house, highlighting what will no doubt be a gripping stunt for viewers to watch.

The jaw-dropping fire scenes were filmed after the exit of soap legend Helen Worth, with her character Gail's emotional last scenes to be aired on Christmas Day.

And with Gail departing the cobbles for good, the fire will no doubt be yet another devastating blow for the Platt family, who have resided at No.8 since 1991.

It was recently reported that the huge fire will see a number of residents' lives hanging in the balance, highlighting a showstopping start to new producer Kate Brooks' reign.

A source told Metro: 'The early part of the year is going to kick off the new era of Corrie with a bang pretty literally and one of the show's core families are right at the heart of the fire storyline.

'With a new boss at the helm, the show isn't pulling any punches and it's fair to say some fan-favourite lives are on the line.'

It comes as Coronation Street released the emotional Gail Platt tribute video that was shared at Helen Worth's leaving party.

Actress Helen, 73, announced back in June that she was stepping away from the Cobbles following an incredible 50 years on the ITV soap.

Helen first appeared on Coronation Street in 1974 to take on the role of iconic character Gail - and fans were left devastated when she confirmed the news she had quit the soap over the summer.

The soap star is due to leave the show next week and the scenes will air on Christmas Day.

To celebrate Helen's time on the show, Coronation Street created a montage video of clips to honour all her hard work over the decades.

They played out the special video at the soap star's leaving party in November, and it certainly left everyone watching very emotional.

The stars and crew of Coronation Street struggled to fight back the tears as it played out in Weatherfield's very own Bistro.

Now Corrie fans can enjoy all of Helen's best bits for themselves.

The eight minute video has been uploaded to the ITV soap's official YouTube channel and named 'Celebrating 50 years of Gail'.

Over the years, Helen's alter-ego Gail has been involved in a number of gripping storylines.

Some include her various weddings, nearly getting murdered by her third husband Richard Hillman, her hilarious relationship with Eileen Grimshaw and the time her son David pushed her down the stairs.

In her statement announcing the news, Helen said: 'This year felt like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

'I made the decision at the start of the year and spoke to the producers who were very kind and understanding.

'I have been truly blessed to have been given the most incredible scripts week in week out, and to have worked with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.

'The past 50 years have flown by and I don't think the fact that I am leaving has quite sunk in yet.'
