Only there in spirit! Hayden Christensen tipped to return as Anakin in Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi... but he may only be HEARD rather than SEEN
The force has awoken to the sound of cascading dollars.
And now fans are speculating that Anakin Skywalker's ghost will reappear to his son Luke in the forthcoming money-spinner Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi - but only in audio form.
A fan claimed in a YouTube video that Hayden Christensen has recorded some audio for a reprisal of his much maligned turn as the human form of Darth Vader.
Hearing voices: Fans are speculating Anakin Skywalker will reappear to son Luke in Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi - but only in audio form
In his upload social media Star Wars expert Mike Zeroh, who says he has an inside source at Pinewood Studios, claimed: 'Recently we learned that Hayden Christensen provided some lines at Pinewood for the upcoming film, The Last Jedi.
'(This led) to a lot of fans wondering maybe he's going to become a Force ghost…but only in the form of a voice.'
It is expected Anakin will be returning in a similar vein to other old favourites with a connection to Mark Hamill's Luke.
Only there in spirit: It is thought the force ghost of Anakin will not be seen
Foiled again: Sebastian Shaw's original Anakin ghost will not be making a return
He said: 'We heard the exact same thing for Obi-Wan Kenobi's Force ghost, that we will only hear him. A lot of concepts from The Force Awakens will be travelling over into The Last Jedi.
'Originally they planned on introducing Yoda as a Force ghost in The Force Awakens. That didn't happen.
'And they also planned the same exact thing for Anakin Skywalker. That didn't happen as well.
'Now it makes sense to bring Anakin Skywalker back in some way, shape or form. Anakin was lecturing Luke Skywalker after the events of Return of the Jedi.'

Coming out to play? Daisy Ridley's Rey will be seeking training from Mark Hamill's Luke
However he also speculated that cunning Disney chiefs will force fans to fork out for extra products if they want to discover the fullness of the contact between Skywalker and son.
He said: 'It would only make sense to hear Anakin's input, in this film, for Luke Skywalker to have some sort of interesting scene that would really make us wonder what their relationship really is now, between father and son.
'I think that even if we get a little snippet of this in The Last Jedi, we're definitely going to learn a whole lot more about this in the novelisation and other forms of canon, such as the Legends of Luke Skywalker: Journey to The Last Jedi.'
A canny mood indeed by the owners of the franchise, who purchased it for what is now looking like a snip at $4 billion in 2012.
Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15.
