A popsicle in one hand and a Prosecco in the other sounds like an amazing summer combo—but a one-handed way of consuming them sounds even better. Enter alcoholic popsicles.
Several brands have released boozy ice cream in the past, but the Germany–based discount supermarket chain Aldi just dropped their own version, called Gianni’s Alcoholic Ice Popsicles. The treats will actually get you tipsy, and they sound delicious. The popsicles come in two new flavors that we can’t wait to get our hands on: Prosecco & Peach Bellini and Gin & Tonic.
The Prosecco & Peach Bellini popsicle has an alcohol content of 4.5 percent volume, and each one contains 38 percent prosecco and 18 percent peach purée from concentrate. The Gin & Tonic popsicle also has an alcohol content of 4.5 percent volume, and each treat contains 11 percent gin. For comparison, 4.5 percent volume is a common alcohol content found in beer, so two or three of these alcoholic popsicles will probably get you nice and tipsy. And you haven’t even heard the best part yet: a package of four popsicles only costs £2.99 (about $3.86 USD).
Unfortunately, these pops are currently only available in the UK, but this is not the first alcoholic ice cream to hit the market. There’s Tipsy Scoop, the liquor-infused ice cream that comes in a slew of flavors like Strawberry Rhubarb Bourbon and Dark Chocolate Whiskey Salted Caramel. (They actually have a store opening in New York City very soon.) There’s also The Ice Cream Bar, which is beer-infused ice cream; Mercer’s Wine Ice Cream, which comes in a slew of wine-inspired flavors; and Buzz Pop Cocktails, which are Italian sorbets infused with cocktails, ranging from 10 percent to 12 percent alcohol per volume.
Can't find any of those options in a store near you? Make your own Prosecco and rose petal pops, or these refreshing lime and grapefruit daiquiri popsicles. (Just make sure you keep them away from the kids!)
