DeShaun and I have been locked in a mutual imaginary affair since the day we met.

So many close calls, drunken flirtations, exchanged glances…and then his unfailing sense of duty would kick in. He has always outranked me and was never going to cross that line.

Even though we’re no longer in the service, he insists he’s not good enough for me. And sure, he’s still the boss…of our highly illegal mercenary organization. But that’s not the only thing holding him back. He’s scarred and in pain and believes his physical limitations should deter me.

What he doesn’t seem to get is that I would sacrifice a limb for him. Major organs. My entire heart.

If he thinks he can push me away for good, he doesn’t know Odd Bash.

Odd, the quiet man with the strange name, believes he can love me as I am. I will never let him do that to himself.

The bad guys never take a break, and every time he's in danger I lose another night of sleep. Fall apart a little more.

Physically, let’s just say my knee isn’t the only problem. There’s an experimental surgery, but…I’m not going through that again.

In a perfect world, no one would ever know the extent of my injuries or the toll it has taken on my mind. Odd insists he loves me without reservation, but he doesn’t understand the reality of my life.

And I love him way too much to ever put him through that.

Meeting Odd & DeShaun in The Punk just yesterday I craved their story and went back once more. 🥰

“How long have you loved me?” I ask, heart racing as my stomach bottoms out. “I don’t know. How long have we known each other? Take that amount of time, subtract about thirty seconds, and there you go.”

All my love for Odd & DeShaun once again. ♡

Now that I started reading "The Wimberley Chronicles" a few details make so much more sense or at least are not as mysterious as before. Loved it!

And that tattoo!! Brought me down once again. 😭❤️🧸

I attempted reading this morning but I couldn’t stop listening to this. I was hooked by DeShaun’s & Odd’s story from the first minute. Wait no, that’s not true. I was gone for them as soon previous books hinted at the thing that’s going on between them and it becomes more and more clear that it is DeShaun who shuts them both down from anything happening.

DeShaun suffered a massive psychological and physical trauma during his last deployment and that’s something he’s not willing to burden on someone else. Especially not Odd. That’s how much he loves him. His trauma not only brought him PTSD, a fucked up knee and constant pain, it also left him with very limited options to perform in the bedroom.

But when your love interest’s twin brother (Anders from book #2) is not only a sociopathic murderer (for the good, ofc) but is also a gifted surgeon working for a classified medical research operation there is suddenly hope DeShaun never would have dreamed of.

I love that we get to see stubborn and determined Odd showing DeShaun that his love for him is and always had been unconditionally with or without any further fixing of what’s "broken". This book, their love story is beautiful, heartbreaking and exciting. (But I stand with Anders & Omar as my favorite couple)

This truly was a great ending to the series! It was a little sad, but nonetheless excited for all the characters and there were a lot of Awwww’s coming from me.

praise for the audio:
Zane Daniels/Zachary Johnson did a fantastic job throughout the whole series. What I loved especially was that he narrated the narrative of each chapter according to the character’s voice - so like when the character had an accent speaking, so did their thoughts and the whole narrative in their POV. Really an amazing performance from an amazing voice actor.

Audiobook Review

This last book of the guardians series is not my favorite, but it is the saddest.

Spoilers ahead

In here we have DB, who created the guardians and Odd, the more saner of the Bash twins. These two have skirted around each other in every book so of course the last one would feature them.

DB has always wanted Odd, but due to his injuries kept whitefanging Odd for years. Eventually, he gets his head out of his tush and they work it out.

The sadness for me was the fact that they disband and are no longer a group getting rid of the bad guys. Now they are somewhat legit, the couples all get married and have babies.

The narration was awesome and Zane performed beautifully.

Loved it

This was so overwhelmingly sweet that I got a toothache and it was worth it. I'm so glad that Odd got his happy ever after , he was one of my favs since the prequel. I really hope there will be more books set in this world.

wished for more action like with the other books but it makes sense since DB needed his own things to be taken care of. i loved how Odd didn't back down from DB and didn't give up.

This is a good ending to the series, it felt like it wrapped up nicely.

Alllllthough with Jake... i now feel like i should have read the other series "Wrecked" so i could get the full picture... looks like i might have to go back.. seems like i am reading all Kelly Fox's books in backwards order lol, luckily its easy to follow and you don't feel that out of the loop with the stories.

4.25⭐ for this a little more emotional installment in the series.

🟢 Both MMCs in their 30's
🟡 Boss - employee
🔵 One MMC is gay, other is bisexual
🟣 Army vet, skin burns, intimate parts not functioning
🔴 Pining
🌶️ A slow burn spice due to a medical condition, but really good and intimate; both vers
🟠 The characters from the rest of the series present

First of all, let's get something straight. THIS was my DB. 😏

DB was severly burned in an op when serving, so he has scar tissue and can't use his private parts. When in the army, DB meets Odd and there's immediate chemistry, but since DB has strong boundaries, he doesn't get involved with Odd, who's a subordinate, even though he does fall in love with the guy.

"The reality is that he and I have been having a mutual imaginary affair for as long as we've known each other."

When they're back to civilian life, they cross paths again with DB leading the Guardians team , where Odd works with his brother, Anders. Again, DB doesn't want to get involved , although it's clear Odd loves him and wants to be with him. DB is held back by his PTSD and his abused body, he doesn't want to be a burden, he feels like he's not a whole man and stays put, doesn't let Odd get close.

"I hate this... this fucked-up way of meeting people casually, vaguely sort of hoping that something will eventually work out and I'll find the one. I already know who the one is, goddamit."

When Odd decides he's had enough and he'll fight for the man he loves, there's no stopping him.
Odd actually thinks DB has no penis, he knows DB is burned and - he doesn't care . He just wants him and nobody else.

They explore sex anew after DB gets a life-changing surgery. DB had almost no function in his privates and couldn't perform sexually for years, he could use the cock-cage though, so I'll leave you with that.

"That man literally does not give one shit about my scars. Or the fact that sex requires a cock cage."

"I wipe my mouth, smiling like a jackass. "I thought it takes a long time to come while wearing a cage," I say, mimicking his deeper voice." 😏

Everything they did was sexy and I really liked their story being not that explosive, more calm and steady with absolutely better written intimate parts than in the previous installment.

Even faced with severe issues at work and with DB's surgery and recovery, DB and Odd stay together, going strong and Odd supports DB through everything.
They did act very familiar and loving with each other and it was absolutely believable, since they've loved each other for years.

Their story is quite emotional and it really pulled me in. I loved these two characters, maybe even liked Odd slightly more than Anders, his twin.

As far as the series goes, I have to mention Anders again, I think he's definitely the character you read about the most, he's in every book and you'll continue to read about him in aaaallll other interconnected series. 😄

It makes sense, he's a special guy, looking back I'm not sorry I rated his book the highest, but this one comes close, so basically, the twins had the best books .

Definitely read Rebel Sky and Wild Heart Ranch series after this one.

On the one hand, I'm giddy that DB and Odd have their story, but on the other, I'm sad that the series is over, even though there will be glimpses of them in Rebel Sky Ranch, Kelly Fox's next series.

Kelly's writing draws me in, and her characters are so easy to get attached to. I seriously want to drive over to Austin and Wimberley (Texas, y'all) to see them. I deeply love every last one of them.

Out of all the series, this one's the least standalone, since this is the last couple and they've been circling each other for a while now. DeShaun and Odd are made for each other and their story is achingly poignant and sweet. DeShaun - DB - has been through a lot, and as you'd expect, we find out just how much and just what price he's paid. Some of the descriptions are graphic, but not gratuitously so. DB's pain broke my heart, but the way Odd loves him healed it. That's not a spoiler - that's just a simple fact that's been there through previous books.

There's action and adventure, of course, and Anders doing Anders things. Heat and humor to spare. I laughed out loud at the gang's antics, I shed a few tears, and swooned more than once.

I highly recommend starting with Kelly Fox's first book and working your way through, but if you don't have that much patience, at least read Shameless from the Wrecked series before diving into the Wrecked: Guardians series. If any series was ever binge-worthy, this one is.

Delightful. It was so satisfying to read about Odd and DB’s love story - finally. After being teased over multiple books, the payoff was good. Since this is the last book in the series, there are a number of threads wrapped up in this book. I’m glad DB got a chance to live with little to no pain, but it was just a bit too much to swallow that the serum and knee replacement and skin grafts worked so well. Maybe I’m a sadist, who enjoys seeing people suffer? Hm.

I’m sorry to see this series end but I really enjoyed DeShaun (DB) and Odd’s story. While I understand DB’s reluctance to start a relationship with Odd, he caused each of them so much unnecessary pain (emotional as well as physical). It seemed as though the story was going to focus on the relationship because not much of anything else was given much attention until about 40%. That’s when they stop being idiots and accept everything. After that, things start getting interesting. Story gets action packed about 3/4 in.

Like most readers of this series, I'd been looking forward to this book because the chemistry between DB and Odd was palpable across the the other books of the series.

I'm happy to report that these two got FINALLY got their HEA but boy O boy did they have to WORK for it. Admittedly, things would've been smoother had it not been DBs stubbornness but in a a way I understood him. I didn't agree with him, but I understood him. Good thing Odd decided to fight for DB, saving him from himself because it was not looking good. Lol

Also, we got to catch up with all our series faves (mine were Rafi and Anders), had a some fun, final heart pumping Operations to bring down some bad guys, and finally put a wrap to a series I picked up on a whim and ended up thoroughly enjoying.

Can't wait to see what next this author brings! I'm READY!!

Austin, Texas. Final of the series, and we see everyone here. Biracial romance.
We are finding out about the mysterious DB, boss of the Blaylock Security company and the Special Ops.
* DB/Deshaun, the hot ebony man, with

a bad knee. He's muscled, strong, and confident, but he's fearing the next surgery on his leg, which he got in Iraq. It will be a special type of surgery for his knee, leg and penis.
* Odd, 32, the Viking twin of Anders, is an

Electrical Engineer and on the Special Ops team. He's got long blonde hair until he cuts it, but he's loaded with muscles, strength and humor.

Odd and DB are attracted, but DB doesn't want to be a burden to Odd.

We see a PTSD episode that's met with tender understanding, and many decisions to be made, also the ever present camaraderie is upfront. There is an Op and rescue, violence, murder, suspense and more, as the men try to figure out who the mole is that is tipping off the bad guys. Bad information is seeping in.

Later, Odd tracks down DB and tells him it's time, no more hiding. They talk, and demonstrate how serious they are. The sex between these tow is electric, and the emotions are deep.

Post surgery bring PT, fun, and explicit descriptions are given for the surgery, and sexy times.

Then the bad seed is found.
Big changes are coming now.

This is the end of this delicious series, with some things left open, and maybe.... we'll get a spinoff.
ENJOY !

Deep Impact is book four in the Wrecked: Guardians series

Aww Odd and DB, their story was one I was curious about with the interactions they’d had in previous books.

This book does deal with past traumas but in a way that’s very low angst. And of course Odd being a Bash there’s no shortage of laughs.

This is one review for the series.
An MM romance, that is a lead off from the brilliant Wrecked series.
The difference being that these books concentrate more on the mercenary side of the friendships.
They contain, violence, aggression, drug and human trafficking, and other triggers.
The books are written beautifully and are very good.

The good
+ Odd's and DeShaun's pining, and it not taking up too much of the book
+ Their reasons for keeping apart are actually valid (usually they don't make sense, but I understood them both)
+ Odd had all the right responses to DeShaun's revelations
+ All the family moments. Foster boy DeShaun really deserved those
+ The reality check (what they're doing is still illegal, even when they feel like they're doing the right thing)
+ The sheer power of the Guardians. I love me some OP heroes, and these guys do not disappoint

The neutral

The bad

Would recommend.

Such a beautiful story. Odd and DB have been circling each other for years. Between the mental and physical issues DB was suffering, he felt unworthy of being loved or helped. DB found it fitting that the excruciating pain he dealt with daily was his penance for the guilt he carried over what happened with Jake. Also, DB didn’t want Odd having to deal with his physical limitations. So imagine how giddy it made me when DB FINALLY let Odd in. The progression of their relationship throughout the book was beautiful. I also loved how each of the previous couples had something important occur in the book too. It made me giddy and honestly I didn’t want to say goodbye. The last chapter and epilogue was perfect. The author gives us insight into the path each couple’s future will go. I’m excited to see what the author does next with this universe. I really don’t want to leave it completely.

An important side note: I didn’t read every book in this series, but I was able to still follow everything. However, I believe it would have been even better if I’d read the whole series.

A bittersweet goodbye

I think DB and Odd may be my favorite. There was just such a richness to their story. You wanted to make everything right for them from page one.

There was definitely some push and pull between what they wanted and what they thought the right thing was. I was slightly frustrated that DB kept making these arbitrary decisions for Odd. He should have known better.

Fox has a unique way of making us fall in love with these characters. You genuinely root for them and want things to work out. I was so glad that it did for DB and Odd.

This series has just been fantastic. I think this one was the most violent and disturbing yet, but also the most emotional and beautifully romantic. And of course we get all the humor and action we’ve come to expect from this series. I’m still hoping for a Parker story - at least a short or novella! And really looking forward to the Rebel Sky Ranch series!

great way to end the series

Rating: 4.5🌈

Deep Impact is the finale story to Fox’s Wrecked:Guardians series and the author sees her characters off in their new roles and pathways in a totally satisfying manner. This comes complete with a great epilogue that lets us see our couples happily together in the future.

It makes sense to save the head of the agency, DeShaun Blaylock , of the legal firm Blaylock Security and Investigations, as the last person to concentrate on for a story.

Well , DB as he’s known, boss of Wrecked:Guardians, and the man who’s loved him for years not so secretly.

That’s Odd Bash. Twin brother to Anders Bash. Where Anders is the medical doctor, Odd is the technical genius. Both men working for Wrecked as well as the Guardians.

Throughout the series there’s been a serious underlying romantic connection between DB and Odd that’s never been acted on or acknowledged. Just sexual tension everywhere that is the talk of the team.

Why DB doesn’t engage with Odd has been a question.

Fox wraps her story around that answer here, one that rests in DB’s current disabilities and mental state.
The author does offer a trigger warning about the subject matter involved here with DeShaun. It goes back to a military mission that goes horribly wrong. A bomb explodes, a team is destroyed and DeShaun will survive having to go through multiple surgeries, savage wounds, burns , and ongoing medical issues that are believably described and discussed.

This is the author’s note:

“DeShaun (DB) has serious physical issues, as noted in earlier books. In this book we find out the full extent of his injuries, and in describing them I endeavored to use frank, accepting, often wry language. While I specifically avoided being overly graphic, the depictions may still be disturbing to some readers.”

FYI. DB also has PTSD and reoccurring nightmares about the mission. This element includes Jake , a character that DB blames himself for the failure of that man’s mission as well. It’s a package of guilt, nightmares, old history, and inability to heal.

This makes for compelling reading and gives us real insight into DB’s actions all this time.

Odd, whose personality is the opposite of his brother, has been giving DeShaun the space he’s indicated he wanted. Have to admit, I adore Odd, the quiet man to Anders wild one. But Fox’s interaction between the brothers here is wonderful, playing up their love for each other, their friendship and support. It also showcases Anders in a better light than Anders own book did. Great to see Anders and Omar again.

Every aspect of this team was spot on. Seeing the couples, getting DeShaun and Odd together, the missions to save the children being trafficked, it’s all here.

If the one thing, the “bad guy” felt a tad weak, well , I think he was just a little bit of a narrative ploy more than an actual good villain.

But everything else was so solid. The action, the ending, the epilogue. Absolutely satisfying. And there’s a new series getting ready to start where we’ll see these characters again.

I felt Deep Impact (Wrecked: Guardians, #4) by Kelly Fox might be the strongest story of the series and the great way to finish. I’m absolutely loving it and recommend it.

Read the series in the order that they were written.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was another good addition to the Wrecked Guardians Series and that it wrapped up the series nicely. I thought the chemistry between DB and Odd was off the charts, as well as hot as hell. Man, DB and Odd have been in each other’s orbits for years but DB keeps Odd at a distance with excuses of why they can’t be together, the main one being that Odd is DB’s subordinate but really it’s due to how damaged DB is both physically and mentally. He believes that he doesn’t deserve Odd because he has so much guilt where he was Jake’s Commanding Officer and he sent Jake on a mission which went horribly wrong and Jake came home but not whole with everything he suffered through. Jake has never blamed DB but it’s hard when you blame yourself you think other’s will as well.

DB also doesn’t want Odd to start to resent him also after losing his grandmother/only remaining family when he was 12 years old and suffered through the next 6 years in foster care someone loving him also terrifies him. I loved seeing Odd’s true self shine through and him and Anders are a lot alike whereas Odd always seemed the quiet sensible twin, he’s still not as extra as Anders that’s for sure. I’m glad that Odd didn’t give up on DB and found ways to show him how much he means to him and that all his scarring doesn’t put him off. The teddy bear tattoo made me tear up a bit, especially the moment when DB noticed it and how much it showed him that he’s cared and loved. Even though it’s bittersweet that I’ve finished this series and looking forward to reading book 1 in the Rebel Sky Ranch Series which is one of the many books in the Wrecked Universe that Kelly has created. It’s Sam’s turn next. I’m also looking forward to getting some cameos of the Wrecked Guardians in the rest of the books in this universe. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.

Fantastic Final Chapter to the Wrecked Guardians series by Kelly Fox. Deep Impact is the story we have all been waiting for. Throughout the Wrecked Guardians Series, we have been pulled in by the sexual tension between Odd Bash and Deshaun “DB” Blaylock. DB and Odd have been in each other's lives for years, starting back when both were in the military in different branches but worked together on certain missions. Initially, DB refused to become involved with anyone who was under his command, in any capacity. Then, after a horrifying injury, DB felt that it wasn’t fair to Odd to pull him into his physically and mentally messed up world. Odd, after years of being pushed away, finally decides to force the issue with DB leading up to the moment we have all been waiting for. DB finally decides to give the relationship a chance, but a shadow from his past threatens to break apart everything he has worked to put together. In Deep Impact we are brought to a fantastic conclusion to the Wrecked Guardians saga with all threads finally pulled together in a way only Kelly Fox can bring us. Can’t wait for her next journey bringing us Samuel’s story with what I’m sure will be some Cameo’s from our favorite family members!

Miracle

There’s something special about the Guardians and with each book I read I fall deeper in love with them all. I knew going into this one it would hurt my heart because of DeShaun and make me sad because it’s the last one *sniff* but I didn’t expect, and I so should have, how full it would make my heart feel. There is so much love and family with these guys, it overflows the pages with every word and I want to soak it all in. DeShaun and his pain is real, I cried buckets for him, but I’ve never been more thankful for our nosy Guardians or Odd’s family as they wouldn’t let his stubborn self live through his struggle alone. And Odd, sigh, I love how he gave DeShaun whatever he needed and fought for him even when it meant Odd had to fight him. “I want to see you. I want to know you. There’s literally nothing, and I genuinely mean nothing, that you could show me that would send me away from you.” To see these two together and in love is a truly beautiful thing. Their connection is swoon worthy, enviable, and red hot. And believe me when I say they love hard and with no boundaries. Although I wanted to savor this book, I devoured it all and the ending is epic. It’s everything I wanted to see, expect and love about these amazing, incredible men.

Perfect way to wrap up an amazing series.

Kelly Fox certainly knows how to weave a story that grabs you immediately and doesn’t let go until the very end. With strong complex characters, an engaging plot and perfect pacing that keeps you turning the pages.

Odd and DeShaun, aka DB, have been circling around their scorching chemistry for years, having the occasional flirtation but never going further. DB has his reasons for keeping Odd at arms length, even though he knows he’s breaking Odd’s heart. Reasons that involve both mental and physical injuries from his military service. These are written and described with the utmost sensitivity and compassion and at times my heart cracked for DB and Odd. When they finally get themselves sorted out be prepared for many hot and steamy scenes!

So there’s feels, lots of feels, which are nicely balanced with laugh out loud funny moments, action, and not to be left out - Anders being, well, Anders.

I loved every moment of this book which beautiful wrapped up the series and I’m looking forward to seeing these old friends popping in again in the spin off series.

I love it when authors spend several books building us up for the HEA of two characters we already know and love. It makes starting a book feeling like we’ve already started their journey and that’s really special. The investment makes the difference. And MAN was I invested in these two from page one. THEIR story isn’t necessarily heartbreaking, but one of theirs is, and sometimes I got choked up at the pain they endured to finally accept they were meant to be together. DB and Odd are just simply really really special and so dang sweet together.

I *really* appreciate Kelly’s ability to both take us out of reality with sexy queer mercenaries and highly technologically advanced medical practices, while also grounding us with the really real things like PTSD. It keeps us as readers engaged by letting us connect while also getting lost in the fantasy. And she absolutely EXCELS at being character driven. In all honesty, in this genre, she is probably one of the best authors when it comes to characterization and dialogue.

I am sad to say goodbye to these lovely and diverse characters, but I cannot wait for more from her. This was by far Kelly’s best to date.

I hate endings. Especially series endings when I’m monstrously invested in the characters. So it was with some trepidation that I picked up this novel. And while Odd and DB’s story was wonderful, I found myself reading it and bracing for the inevitable end of the Guardians series.

I shouldn’t have worried. Fox handled wrapping up the series beautifully and I felt both satisfied and, finally, able to enjoy the beauty that was Odd and DeShaun’s journey.

The extent of DB’s trauma was never fully explored until this book and he has a bucketload of challenges. However, if anyone is up for the challenge, it’s Odd. These two men are breathtaking together; their unconditional love unwavering.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Guardians book without lots of appearances by the rest of the gang, and those interactions were as enjoyable as ever. I particularly enjoyed digging deeper still into the sibling relationship between Anders and Odd, and getting further glimpses into their parents’ unconventional style.

Overall, I would say not to let the fear of endings deter you from reading this fantastic book. Fox handles readers’ hearts gently and gives us everything we need.

Let me start by saying that this book exceeded all of my expectations. The finale to one of my favorite worlds is sad but Kelly wrapped it up perfectly (hopefully we'll get glimpses of them in the future). Deep Impact was fast, entertaining, and funny as heck. This one made me laugh, cry, and yell a little bit. I swear I could feel everything the characters did.

DB and Odd were written really well. The tension was so thick and heavy in the previous books it made me crave their story. DB is forever trying to protect Odd and Odd is forever trying to save DB. Their friendship is sweet and the chemistry is HOT! And the way in which Odd loves DB.. that selfless and legitimately unconditional love is incredibly beautiful and powerful.

I love how all the Guardians are involved in each other's lives. Their bond definitely made this series one of my all time favorites. If you're looking for strong, snarky, and sometimes insane characters.. look no farther. And if you want action packed male romance this book is for you.
