The hero is a manwhore but not a cheater, it looks like he was but he was not. The book is chick lit very light and not emotional. The characters have ten years gap age and he’s been in love with her since she was 17 and he was 27 and engaged to her older sister. There’s a very soap operish break up with the sister and with all their families. They don’t meet for four years and when they meet she works for him and he’s a manwhore, who has a woman for every day of the week and he changes them often. He had sex with ow after the heroine comes back and keeps seeing ow and making out with them even if he’s attracted to the heroine. She’s a virgin, pleeeeeeese. They are caught together and there’s a pretend engagement that becomes true and in the end all is well. But I didn’t much like it even if I didn’t dislike it. Why the hero would think he would always cheat on women, when he stayed with the heroines sister for years and was always faithful until he broke up with her for trying to kiss the underage heroine? This is not a behavior of a cheater but of a man who outgrew his puppy love with his childhood sweetheart and was attracted to another woman. So the reason why he decided to become a sleazy manwhore was not real. And please spare me the old lie that he always loved the heroine but couldn’t have her so he bangs whatever walks and breaths. There’s also a third sister who’s a bitch but everyone seems to protect her for no reason at all and the heroines complex that she’s always less than her sister was not really motivated. I didn’t hate it but it didn’t love it either....more
I loved it and I laughed so much! This is JS at her best. The title says it all. The heroine has the mother in law from hell, the woman made her life I loved it and I laughed so much! This is JS at her best. The title says it all. The heroine has the mother in law from hell, the woman made her life hell while her husband the hero was deployed for months thinking his mother was taking good care of his wife. I liked that the hero as soon as he realized what his mother was doing behind his back promptly acted and protected the heroine and always had her back. The humor here is excellent, the book is safe and fun, the usual JS thing with a lot of ott sex , 20 inches penis, and all the weird stuff we know. ...more
Good book with a lot of humor. It’s a paranormal, and the characters are all different kind of shifters. The hero is a Pallas cat and the heroine is a Good book with a lot of humor. It’s a paranormal, and the characters are all different kind of shifters. The hero is a Pallas cat and the heroine is a Tasmanian devil. They have a kind of f.buddies agreement but when she hears him telling his brother that their relationship won’t go anywhere she decides to end it with him. She wanted something casual in the beginning but now she’s falling for him and she doesn’t want to waste time with an affair that won’t go anywhere. The hero doesn’t contradict her but he’s very disappointed that she ended their agreement. We learn that years before he was going to mate with another woman but she dumped him when she found her fated mate. Since then he’s had only casual flings because his cat won’t allow him to bond. This is why he can’t commit, because his cat has always rejected females after some time. Of course this won’t work with the heroine because he’s still very good much attracted to her. When his ex comes back things get complicated. He doesn’t want ow back because he only has the heroine in his heart now, but this causes some issues. There’s also a mystery story with some shifter trafficking and trying to kidnap the heroine. The heroine turns out to be his fated mate. It can be disappointing that he loved another woman that was not his mate before meeting her but the heroine is no doormat and doesn’t pine for him. She’s a very strong and determined woman and doesn’t accept any sh1t. She’s a badass alpha and very independent, and the hero is the one who pursues her. I love the banter between other shifters, the heroine has two girlfriends, one is a bearcat and the other a mamba. Their animals fight constantly and it was really funny. There’s a lot of sex, that someone could love but I somehow skipped after the first pages, but I suppose it was needed to underline the strong chemistry between the characters. The hero is a good guy, he was not trying to reject the heroine because he was not ready to commit, but because his inner cat always rejected the females after some time and he didn’t want to hurt her. Her animal is a grumpy and aggressive devil and I liked that she didn’t accept the hero back when he admitted she was his mate. Her animal is one that holds grudges and he had to wait a lot! There is also some scene of torture and violence that can be disturbing so I put it as a trigger warning. Safety is good, as soon as he meets the heroine he’s all over her and even after their break up he is celibate, and so she is. It was good and entertaining. ...more

The poor dude was traumatized as a child and has never had a serious and committed relationship. He’s a manwhore supreme but not a bad guy, because he never broke any hearts. The heroine has just been dumped by her fiancee because he told her he’s fallen in love with another woman, so when her dad has a stroke she leaves and meets the hero. They decide to have a no string affair and there’s a lot of sex which I admit was quite hot because the hero is crazy about the heroine. He realizes he loves her and he would like them to get serious but the heroine is still recovering from her last boyfriend so he’s the one who pursues her. I liked this book, low angst and all and for once a good committed hero. He even regrets his past because he thinks the heroine won’t trust him, since every woman in town seems to have had a taste of him, eek. But the heroine does Let anyone scare her and all is well in the end. The hero was truly devoted to her and celibate after meeting her, I liked that she changed him in a fundamental way and that he never was tempted to go back to his old ways. There’s a small fuck up the first time they have sex but nothing very relevant and the heroine is not a doormat so she calls him on his bs. I also liked the style, a bit of chick lit but anyway cute and fast paced. ...more
I like this author because she doesn’t usually write heroine who are pushover or doormat, no double standards and no chauvinism. The pact here was madI like this author because she doesn’t usually write heroine who are pushover or doormat, no double standards and no chauvinism. The pact here was made between the hero and the heroine, jokingly, during a fling they had in college years. The heroine was 18 and the hero only a few years older, they moved in the same circles, privileged ones, and their fling was only sexual. Basically they were f.buddies for some weeks during summer holidays. No love, no meaningful feelings, only basic attraction and very strong one. They parted ways very amicably and without regrets. The hero found a woman he loved at college and so did the heroine, but both lost their loved ones who died prematurely. The hero never loved another woman, while the heroine had some very meaningful stories, the last one ended only a few months before because her boyfriend went back with his ex wife. The pact is that if they weren’t married when the heroine was 30 they would get married together. The hero asks the heroine to honor the pact, since she’s not married yet. There will be no love, no mess, but both would be friends and have children. So this is it. It’s a very slow burn story with a lot of sex, because they apparently have a chemistry that is very strong, but both are very respectful and honest to each other. There’s a lot of ow and om drama, his dead ex twin sister who’s a bit cray cray and wants him for herself, and her ex who, despite being with his ex wife, is still in love with the heroine. There are some problematic and nasty young men, some shady business but the boom is anyway pleasant and in the end they both fall in love with each other. I liked that: - there’s no unrequited love. The heroine was never in love with the hero, she never regretted not being with him, never thought about him after they ended their fling. She moved on and fell in love, repeatedly. - no double standard. Even if the sex was good between them, the heroine never carried a torch for him, she enjoyed sex with other men and had a normal and full life. - there’s no pining the dead ones. They both were very young and yes, they both loved their dead exes but they recognize that what they have is much more than what they would have had with the dead ones. - the hero is very caring and respectful to her, he’s possessive but not in a disrespectful manner. He’s very protective with her. - the heroine is a strong and no nonsensical kind of woman, she wants children and a family and accepts the hero warts and all. She’s not jealous, hurt, suspicious. I liked her a lot. Some things I liked less - being a very romantic person I found very unromantic that he didn’t consider the heroine as a partner when he was younger and only kept her as a backward plan if no one of them found another partner, that is, I didn’t find anything better so you may as well fit. Ok, they didn’t know very well each other but it was so unromantic and I didn’t like it. I only accepted because the hero proposed first and the heroine would have never ever considered him as a possible partner. Which is, he didn’t care a lot about her but she cared even less about him. - he is a shady businessman but we never know what kind of shady is shady, that is, is he drug trafficker? Or is he simply not paying all taxes as he should? This was never cleared. It left me a bit meh… I mean, the heroine was loyal to him and trusted him very much but she never asked him what exactly he was doing as illicit and that was so quite not the heroine. Anyway I liked the book very much, it was entertaining and fast paced, and the main characters were very well matched, that one wonders why they never thought about being together before. The angst is low, the safety for me is good because there’s no double standard and they never were serious, to me their time as f.buddies was very early in their life and meaningless for both. When the parts are on the same level I stand contented, and there was never any drama. ...more

The heroine is feisty and quite a sensible woman, not the usual dumb virgin. She’s been cheated on by her fiancé with her little sister and decides to change her lifestyle. She meets the hero who’s a billionaire manwhore, and he’s immediately smitten with her curvy body. They decide to have a fling, and this is maybe the first time in LG stories where the heroine says her ex name while she’s having sex with the hero. Indeed! The hero is obviously paralyzed. After this ahem mistake they don’t meet for some time, and her brother is mistaken for her ex so he thinks she’s back with her ex. He’s quite the cold fish, being the usual lg emotionally stunted hero, but he’s very upset that she dumped him, so when he finds out the man is her brother he’s relieved and asks her to resume their affair. They have some very hot affair, and of course the hero is smitten and in love with her even if he is still in denial, but then there is the big misunderstanding. Her bitchy mother tells her her father is the hero’s father. Cringe moments. Thank god they have a dna test and they are not related and all is well on the end. The book is entertaining and quite scary for the sister love brother thing, and quite sedated for a LG. What I hated most is that she forgave her sister basically at once, and she was not even that angry with her mother for lying to her. The reasons they gave her for betraying her and treating her like dirt were pitiful, the sister basically accused the fiancé of seducing her while she was drunk, oh, pity they kept having sex for six month even sober afterwards! And the mother lied because it was more refined to admit she had a daughter with a rich and powerful man instead of her bf husband. Yes that’s it. Cute little family she has. Thank god the hero was quite a determined and brave young man, and eventually they got married and happy together....more
Ok this is typical JS so no high literature but a lot of humor and laughs. The hero is pretty standard of hers, obsessed, grumpy, very loyal but also Ok this is typical JS so no high literature but a lot of humor and laughs. The hero is pretty standard of hers, obsessed, grumpy, very loyal but also a bit ott and psycho, so the heroine has very little voice in it. It’s quite unusual because she was married to her childhood sweetheart so more than 15 years together and they have been unable to have kids, so one day he comes home and he tells her he has got one of his student, he’s a professor, pregnant. His mother, who wants a grandchild from her only male child, and hates the heroine, basically forces the heroine to accept both the ow and the child. Ow is a psycho bitch, so when the heroine, eventually, grows a spine and leaves the hero divorcing him, the psycho bitch drugs sistematically the hero and her baby to have what she wants, money and a man. The heroine who has been gaslighted into guilt because unable to conceive, goes to another town and meets the hero, who had seen her two years before, was madly in love with her, but, learning she was married, had left in a state of desperation that lasted months. Now that he meets her again and she’s single, he’s all over her, and they begin a new relationship. He’s kind and considerate in a JS way that is, she can’t sneeze without him allowing it, but since he only wants what is best for her, she is happy to ask permission for her sneeze. In a couple of times he goes overboard because she didn’t tell him about her meeting with crazy ex family, but in this case he was right, because the heroine had to lose the martyr attitude and start retaliation. Oh, and she gets pregnant as soon as yesterday. Guess what, maybe she was not the one being sterile? In the meantime being JS, her ex is unhappy in a depressing and suicidal kind of way, he doesn’t care for his newborn child, he starts resenting his mothers presence, whining because he misses his wife, and hating ow, that is a nasty bitch. He gains pound over pound and is smashed by alcohol most of his time, he even loses his job and he sells his house. His mother blames the heroine and we find out she’s the real mastermind, who trapped his father drugging him and planning to get pregnant six times while he was in love with another woman. In the end the ex, ow and mother in law have a really nice karma waiting for them while the heroine becomes a fertility goddess starting with a triplet, twins and a single one. So, very unlikely and ott book, but I loved the humor, in some part it was really hilarious. Of course a lot of ott sex but the hero was anyway a man who put the heroine, her family, his children, above all the rest. Which is more than we can ask in books in this time of penury. ...more

Her brother is in Brazil for a two years assignment sFun reading of olds with misunderstandings all the way. The heroine lives with her sister in law. Her brother is in Brazil for a two years assignment so the women live together. Soon the sil begins to stay late at work, to go out for dinners and plans a weekend in Paris. The sil has a boss who’s a womanizer and heroine thinks they’re having an affair. So she, the naive, virgin and self sacrificing heroine, goes to the hero’s house and asks him to leave her sil alone. The hero proposes the heroine to go to Paris with him instead of her sil. Heroine offends him a lot and leaves, but eventually gives in and accepts to go instead of him leaving sil permanently alone. It was quite fun because their journey, who was not in Paris but in Yorkshire, is a complete mess, and we’re really wondering why the hero wanted the heroine to go to him since by the description everyone can see she was an inexperienced and quite repressed young woman. She was even cute, with short wavy hair instead of big long hair… arrived in Yorkshire they meet the heroine’s parents who are also on holiday and things are really hilarious with the heroine appalled and the hero making up lies about their journey there and forced to leave in a snow storms because she doesn’t want the parents to know they’re together. The poor hero spends all the weekend driving in the snow and trying to reassure the scared heroine that he doesn’t want to rape her. I can only imagine how many times he regretted asking that girl to leave with him. Hilarious. At the end of the disastrous weekend they are kissing and making out and the hero thinks that at last they can do something, but the heroine looks at him with stars in her eyes and confesses that she’s a virgin. Nothing like that to cockblock the poor man. He jumps and leaves as a rocket. The sil affair seems to be still there and when the hero eventually manages to talk to the heroine he tells her there was nothing with sil and never was. Sil made up a story to make her husband jealous, the weekend in Paris was with a group of colleagues and the hero deceived the heroine because he was interested in her, but as soon as he started spending time with her he realized her he loved her and wanted more than an affair. It was cute and hilarious. The heroine was a scared, inhibited and even childish girl and honestly I don’t know yet what the hero found in her, and how he couldn’t realize she was inexperienced. A Diana Palmer hero would have seen her for what she was from a mile. The episodes with the parents, with the heroine’s ex and each time she insulted the hero without a care in the world were really funny. The sil was manipulative and selfish but eventually the heroine was so happy that she didn’t cheat on her brother that immediately forgave her....more

He saves her from her abusive aunt and cousin, taking her to Paris so she can help him to shoo off a nasty ow who’s the wife of his neighbor. The heroine’s father and the hero’s were friends and there was a debt of honor, so the hero is happy to help her to become independent by her aunt. I love the story, the heroine is feisty and never a victim and the hero is older and more experienced but not bad. The physical violence is for this author equivalent to physical attraction so neither the heroine or the hero are disturbed by it. The heroine hI definitely love ML heroines for their level of bitchiness. Thank god for that, especially in the usual depressing and sad HP landscape. The heroine has been the hero's lover for some time, but actually he never told her she was only his mistress, never kept her hidden, but at the same time he never made plans for their future. He's a very busy high profile billionaire, so he has not so much time to dedicate to her, but honestly, he never treated her with anything but respect and consideration. The heroine though, as most women, needs words of commitment and when she finds out she's pregnant she doesn't even think to tell him, thinking he would be angry, and dumps him without any explanation. The poor hero, who never saw it coming, is shattered and starts looking for her. The heroine has taken some time to think and meditate about what she wants to do and when he eventually finds her, she's not ready to take him back. He has some groveling to do because, ok, he might not have been cruel or mean but he wasn't such a considerate boyfriend either. In the end all is well and I liked it. I liked that the heroine had great self respect and didn't make any allowance to the hero. She wanted to be loved and treated as a queen and she made him grovel. After all the doormat heroine who beg for crumbles of attention this one was refreshing. The hero was only a bit slow on the uptake, but not a bad one....more
Best heroine ever, and I mean, this book was written in 1980. She’s everything you want in a heroine. Young but not silly, cute and funny but also seriBest heroine ever, and I mean, this book was written in 1980. She’s everything you want in a heroine. Young but not silly, cute and funny but also serious, beautiful but not vain and with a sensible way of dealing with things. The hero is an ex bad boy who grew up in the same small town as the heroine’s, he went away and became a billionaire. Now he’s back and the heroine meets him at a dinner with her fiancé. It’s clear that the hero is besotted with her. He basically blackmails her to accept a job with him in London, he will pay for her aunt’s surgery. Of course she accepts but she’s quite disappointed. She’s no doormat and she’s not passive aggressive. She accepts to live in his flat and to work for him, even if she smells a rat. The hero takes her to a party where his mistress attacks her in the ladies room. Don’t worry, the woman will regret it painfully cause the heroine is no crybaby. She slaps her back and beats her to a pulp. Then she goes and tell the hero exactly what happens. No tears, no scenes, no nothing. Best set down ever. Or better, best knockout ever. The hero gives the mistress her congee’ and is very impressed with the heroine’s abilities. But he doesn’t learn any lesson because he makes her angry, and as Hulk said at the time, you wouldn’t like to see me angry. He keeps kissing her and pushing her to break with her fiancé and of course the heroine is having doubt because she doesn’t love her fiancé and the hero’s kisses are another thing, but he pushes once too much so she gives him a black eye. And the poor man has to go about with a black eye and a headache for several days. How hard I laughed. There’s a lot of banter and some silly behavior by both parts, the heroine flirting like mad with two of her friends, the hero kissing another girl to make her jealous, but eventually the poor hero is the first to declare he’s hopelessly in love with him. And he admits that he saw her two months before walking down a street and fell like a ton of bricks. Now the heroine, that thought he only wanted an affair with her, can declare her love back and all is well. I enjoyed this one, the heroine is to die for, she’s one of the less doormat I’ve met in hp and m&b ever, without being a bitch. She says what she has to say, she is ready to defend herself and her beliefs and is cute as hell. ...more

She’s a virgin of course and she believes in love so when he tries to have sex with her just because she always runs away. It was kind of cute because it’s obvious that the hero is smitten with her and only sees her and not the big marlin he’s catching every day, a sort of moby dick where MD is the heroine and the marlins are an excuse to have a grab of her big boobs. I’m joking! He’s serious and even asks her to be her friend until eventually they have sex. Sadly the hero tells some things that he will regret, and the heroine understands that he only sees her as s challenge to win, but in reality he’s really in love. So she snubs him and he goes back to the USA. Some months later his agent goes to her and asks her o help him since the hero is ruining himself in every way without her, and doesn’t even see other girls (which really amazes both me and the heroine), so everything is cleared up and all is well and he can go back to be the star he’s always been. This one was really entertaining beside the detailed parts regarding the ship and the marlins, poor animals, that I wasn’t really interested in, but I loved some scenes because they are really old style. The first night they meet, the heroine wears a very sexy dress and the hero basically salivates through all the dinner, then jumps on her like a starving beast and scare the bejeezus out of her. I liked the passion between them, even his kisses are something, and it’s very clear that he’s in love with her. He wasn’t bad and she was a bit on the naive side but a very strong woman anyway. There's a bit of angst because the heroine really was misjudged and mistreated by everybody, from her family to the jerk hero, and this was really bad. She's a nice, caring, hard working girl who loves alternative cares, and has a wellness centre where she teaches windsurfing, yoga, reiki. She loves helping people and maybe the only fault you can find is that she's too trusting but this is obvious in such a loving person. She's also a knockout and a testimonial for swimsuits, but she doesn't brag about. Quite the perfect woman, basically. The hero is her brother's bff and is 10 years older than her, he was her champion when she was a child abut since she's grown up he became a jerk. She's got a crush on him since forever but as times goes by and he's more and more annoying and insulting, she stops caring and starts thinking that he's not the good guy she thought he was. Actually he's got a crush on her since she's grown up, but she's forbidden to him not only because of her brother but also because she's the opposite of what he wants in a woman. He sees her as a beautiful unreliable and flighty child woman, a spoiled child who doesn't take anything serious. He's a doctor, and for him alternative care is an offence. When he realizes he's losing her and she's not following him as a lost puppy he tries to win her back but he's too idiot and clueless to do things properly. Actually the heroine is maybe the best in her family and circle, she always worked hard and never asked for a penny to her parents, and her business is successful. I found that she deserved something better, the hero basically ignored her for years, had other girlfriends and did nothing but demean her and her jobm treating her as a demented child. Ok he had a childhood with abusive and awful parents, and it's quite a bit clearer the reason why he looked for safety and reliability, and actually the heroine with her too trusting and too giving nature is quite prone to failure, not her fault, but because of some people who are ready to exploit her. Eventually the hero redeems himself and wins her back, but I think this should hava happened long before. The heroine is 25 and he's 35, they've known for 20 years, and he started salivating for her when she was 16, so 9 years later he decided she could do. Thank god she was not a virgin and she had boyfriends and sex, and he doesn't seem to be a womanizer, he has a gf at the beginning but it's all very platonic, he's not attracted to her at all. I liked the characters, the heroine is actually very misunderstood and not appreciated by her family until the end, I don't understand why she kept seeing them, and the hero too, since everyone treated her poorly. The hero is handsome and this is all I cans say for him, since he was awful and dismissive to the heroine even if she never did him any wrong, just because he was attracted to her. I think that in the end he groveled enough but I still think she deserved better. ...more

I’m her fan, her follower, her humble subject. The first part is exhilarating. The poor woman had quite a hard life, since her cad of a brother blackmailed the hero to marry her, without her knowing anything and the hero divorced her, throwing her out of his house some months later without any explanation. She found herself pregnant and couldn’t tell the hero because he prevented her to get near him. She married a good and honest man, but quite impoverished, that made her happy and was a good father to her son until he died of consumption some years later. The hero then, who was just been jilted by his convenience fiancée, found out that the heroine’s son was his and decided that he would have the heir without a wife. The hero. A schizoid if ever I’ve seen one. He has a very limited range of emotions and has zero to none empathy. A potential sociopath. He thinks himself a victim of the heroine and her brother and hates them together with the rest of human race. He wants the child, as his heir, and tries to buy him from his ex wife. I recommend everyone to read this part, which takes one third of the book, because the heroine couldn’t have slain him more had she had a katana in her hand. Or a hatchet. Or a uzi. He goes back to her several times and she doesn’t spare him her contempt, her hate and everything she thinks of him. That he’s a monster. That he’s unfit to raise anything, let alone a child. That she'd rather live in a poorhouse than near him. And when he tries to threaten her and her livelihood she tells him quite frankly that she will go to Australia instead of staying with him. How I loved her. And no, she was never in love with him, nor she was in lust. She tried to be a good wife until she understood he didn’t want her, stop. But no tender feelings or unrequited love for the sob. Thank god and the author for this. Sadly her cad of a brother ends in prison and she has to eventually go and live at the hero’s country house with the child since she had to pay to save her brother. This was a letdown for me. She knew her brother only used her and was a dishonest guy, she should have left him rot in prison but we wouldn’t have a book… The hero never liked her and wasn’t attracted by her when they first wed, because he thought her a conniving dishonest bitch, but now that he understands she was innocent he is able to see her with new eyes… Those two are like cat and dog, she doesn’t like him and he’s quite a brooding grinch. But he starts liking his son and the child warms to him. It’s a slow burn, and more on the hero’s side than the heroine’s. I liked her, a very resilient and sensible woman. She doesn’t pine after the hero, after what he did to her, even knowing he thought her guilty with her brother, she doesn’t like him until the end, and at one point she even thinks she likes her son’s young tutor and could one day marry him. Not a doormat here. It will be the hero the pursuer, and she eventually decides she will have him, again. The hero had a lonely and emotionally poor childhood, without any real affection, and he’s not the most easygoing of men, so it’s a real effort on his part to surrender to the love he feels for the first time for the heroine. Very slow burn, very nice and clean, with their first kiss at 80% of the book, but I must say I wasn’t bothered. Of course none of them was celibate, he had mistresses but doesn’t seem a profligate, and she married a man she came to love and had a pleasant intimacy with him, while their first marriage was disastrous on that side too. I missed his apology though, for the very poor treatment of her during and after their marriage, even if he thought her guilty. He could have asked her. The hero has an interesting matchmaking female friend, I loved her. A nice and ok reading. ...more

There are triggers though. - the heroine is abused by her uncle and aunt, treated like a slave, and almost sold to a brother by her aunts brother. -she manages to run away but is taken by the hero, a shipping captain, who is looking for a prostitute for the night. He thinks she’s one and proceeds to rape her. Yes, he definitely rape her and even when he finds out she’s a virgin he thinks she’s selling herself. Then h rapes her for a couple of days until she manages to run away again. In this first part the hero is actually hateful and unforgivable, a bastard rapist sob that doesn’t even have a thought for the heroine as a human being, and worries only that she could have some influential relative that could cause him problems. When he finds out she’s alone in the world he is happy because he plans to make her his mistress. Nothing is redeemable in this hero, in the first part. The heroine goes back home and soon finds out she’s pregnant. Since one of her fathers bff is a very important lord, he threatens the hero and forces him to marry the heroine. And there begins the madness. Total and complete. And my fun too. The heroine never enjoyed the hero’s rape, thank god for this, and never wanted to see him again. She’s still angry and very afraid of him, and disgusted by his touch. She moved on from the rape quite beautifully but I think that in that time and age it was- sadly- quite a common thing for poor women who were not protected by family to be abused by more powerful and stronger men, and she’s quite resilient. This heroine is not traumatized, she’s a survivor but for sure she doesn’t suffer from TBS. Hurrah! The hero, who has listed after the heroine since he first met her, knows very well she is innocent and didn’t trap him, in fact she’s quite direct when she tells him that she told her aunt who was the father of her child under duress and she couldn’t lie and say it was another’s. The hero though seems to have made a lobotomy because he’s angry and threatens to make her life a living hell. He tells her he would have made her his mistress and treated her royally but since he’s forced to marry her she will be his slave and , oh, he tells her they won’t have sex. One of the best moments ever, because the heroine actually jumps in joy because the thought of having sex with him make her gag. The hero is perplexed by her reaction, I was laughing my face off because how stupid is the man? He’s punishing himself and doing her a big favor, what an idiot! When they reach America we all meet the ow, the woman he was engaged because he wanted her piece of… land! You naughty! What were you thinking of? Lol! She is all that an evil ow is, evil, cruel, nasty, and promiscuous. The hero was never in love with her but he had sex with her as everyone else in their town, and IMO he’s a bit slow to protect the heroine from her. But we have a good and chivalrous hero’s brother who immediately loves the heroine and understands how sweet she is. This one hasn’t had lobotomy and is able to understand the heroine’s value and the fact that the hero is smitten with her. He is. There’s a lot to solve because the heroine started to care a bit for him and he’s in lust with her but doesn’t want to rape her or force her anymore and knows he must let her choose if she wants to sleep with him. Misunderstandings. The heroine thinks he’s not interested in her and the hero thinks she doesn’t want him and hasn’t forgiven him, which is partially true. He feels guilty for what he’s done. I must admit that this heroine has pride and wit, she never fails to tell what she thinks and even if she’s only a girl she isn’t afraid to speak some home truths. And the hero takes it all like a champ. Really entertaining. Their thoughts are really to die for, the hero is actually low on the uptake but after all he’s not such a bad guy, even if he was awful in the beginning. There’s also some mystery and eventually all is well, the hero and the heroine reconcile and he’s been celibate for basically one year because of his stupid threats. And no, he never treated like a slave, it was only bark with no bite because he was being forced… to do his duty! This one is worth reading, be prepared for the flowered prose and the great amount of self- thinking with some very funny remarks. I did not find it angsty because the hero is not actually cruel, even in the beginning he’s acting under false assumption because he thinks the heroine was a prostitute and he thinks he would give her a better life as his kept mistress. And the heroine is too smart and too resilient to be a victim and she’s not in love with the hero until late in the book, so the conflict is basically non existent. Old but gold and nice to read, if you don’t have problems with rape in old school romances....more

The heroine is really a redhead with long hair and she also has a similar blue dress on. The hero is an American businessman and he meets the heroine at a bar. He tries to hook her up, and helps her when her car has a failure. They make out in his car and the day after he comes to her engagement party and finds out she’s going to be married in a couple of weeks. He’s angry and tries to change her mind and even goes to her bedroom and kisses her senseless. His intention are of course to have some fun with her, after all he’s a playboy and doesn’t go for marriage, being divorced himself. The day after he kidnaps the heroine and takes her to the Isle of Man, where they have fun and he finds out he can’t seduce her because she expect marriage. So she goes back home, but what the hero doesn’t know if that she had already jilted her fiancé, and so when he finds out he thinks she has deceived him and leaves. Some weeks go by and he’s back, of course with his tail between his legs, and asks the heroine to marry him. The heroine was somehow spineless and too ready to trap the poor man, after all they had met only two days before and she was already thinking how she could make him love her and marry her. A bit early imo. The hero was a playboy and a womanizer, he was only in for some happy and carefree sex with the heroine and I’m not fond of people who tells you what you have to do, what you have to like or not. He pushed her repeatedly. Even if she was attracted to him she didn’t want to have an affair with him and he would have accepted it. The book would be two stars imo, I added one more for the nostalgic factor....more
I loved it! It was a jump into the past, in the early 80s with Hollywood kind of lifestyle full of excesses and tackiness. The heroine is the daughter I loved it! It was a jump into the past, in the early 80s with Hollywood kind of lifestyle full of excesses and tackiness. The heroine is the daughter of a famous actress who’s also a narcissist sex symbol. She’s been sheltered and living in a convent and as soon as she’s 18 and all grown up she’s back home where her mother is giving one of her wild parties, and it’s oh so wonderful! Movie stars and groupies swimming naked and having sex, its basically a x rated movie or a hugh Hefner party. And the hero! Oh the hero! With his golden medallion and heavy golden chain, I can almost see him! And what a sleazy pig he is! He turns up into the heroine’s bedroom while she’s naked and, without any shame, starts mauling her as if she were a pornstar! Really??? Without even knowing her! It’s good to say that the heroine is a typical slutty virgin, and doesn’t react screaming and kicking like mad, she stands her ground and enjoys the hero’s dirty approach. Finesse is not their second name. The heroine’s mother is a jealous aging woman that would like to jump the hero’s bones so she tries in every way to prevent them from seeing each other, and I think it was the right thing to do since the hero was a 34 yo swine while the heroine was a 18 yo naive virgin. Even if she did it for the wrong reasons. The heroine though is a lil slut and doesn’t stop seeing the hero, who’s a sleazy manho until they eventually have sex. Very bad sex though. Because she’s a virgin and he rams into her like a knife into soft butter. Causing her pain and tears. I wonder what experience taught to those men. They should be gods gift to women and they cannot even manage a decent first time with a virgin. A shame. Their second time is much better but the hero is appalled because the heroine weeps afterwards so he thinks he isn’t able to give her pleasure. Aaaaaannnndddd… instead of making some further efforts and trying to give a better performance with some patience and fantasy, he panicks and tells her it’s over between them. Such a great lover he is. The heroine is of course appalled and runs away. When she goes back home later, she finds her mother and the hero in bed together. He’s sleeping of course so we already know there’s a big deception and a big misunderstanding here. She runs away. Five years later she’s a famous actress and engaged to a good man, but of course there’s no passion between them. Her new director and co partner in her new movie is surprise surprise- the hero! So the bickering starts and there’s the usual CM tit for tat where they try to make the other jealous and they repeatedly insult each other… while kissing and mauling at every turn. There’s a would be ow and two om but eventually the hero and the heroine find that they have been both deceived by the wicked witch of the west, the heroine’s mother! Who wins the award for worst mother of the decade! We find out that both of them have been pining for the other and have been celibate for five years and all is well in the end. Nice and light story that I liked because there’s the usual fast and brilliant style that is CM signature style. And both were besotted and stayed celibate! What can I ask for more? And all that vintage dresses and parties! The heroine total yellow look: yellow shirt with yellow pants! The hero with his shirt unbuttoned until his navel! Whoever does that anymore??? And, while the heroine was a virgin and quite slutty, she wasn’t a doormat and I must admit that the hero was almost more immature than her even if he could have been her father. Jayzuz what a trip I had! Recommend it for some light fun....more

This hero is everything but alpha. And the average age of this book is teenager so if you’re not ready to read a ya this may definitely not be for you. I don’t appreciate when a paranormal is a book where everything is the same as in human world except the characters have some sort of ability as in this case they are werewolves. So you have a high school with shifters instead of human, with popular girls and boys and those less popular and ostracized. The basis for this separation is that some of them are scavengers, so the pack forces them to live separate in some kind of trailers without much assistance from the rest of the pack. When the alphas son, a ridiculously immature boy, finds out he’s mated to a scavenger, he tries to keep the fact a secret, while banging the girl without his peers and his parents knowing it. The reason for this behavior is his parents pressure to find a suited mate, ignoring the powerful bond. The boy is torn between the attraction to his mate and the pressure of his pack. There’s also an evil uncle that is the actual alpha and the boy should be his heir, but he knows he’s got a long way to go before he can challenge and beat him. Eventually it will be his mate to save the day, since her wolf is, well, a monster of a beast, and will literally devour the evil uncle. It’s more a story about classes and social standard than a romance, where the difference between groups are solved thanks to the resourcefulness that the one considered weaker actually have. The hero is a weak and immature boy, unable to stand for himself in front not only of his parents but also of his peers. A great difference from the hero of the previous book who was dumber than dumb but actually quite alpha. The heroine is somehow better and generally more mature than the hero. I suppose the irony is well explained because her wolf is definitely the most terrifying beast of all the pack and then some, much more than the wolf of her weak mate. Both celibate and virgin so completely safe in that department.

Not completely. Maybe a bit. But after reading romances with heroes that are whining weak man child, or selfish cheaters, this one has one of the best heroes lately. If you don’t like stalkerish uber obsessed heroes this may be not for you, but if you love a hero that since he first met the heroine can’t stop thinking about her, is overwhelmed by lust every single time he thinks about her and is over jealous and possessive to the point of insanity this may be for you. With this hero you won’t have to worry that he looks at other women or he might be tempted by any other woman than the heroine, he’s so obsessed by her it’s even funny. She’s a goth hairdresser and he’s a rich tycoon, they meet at the salon where she works and it’s cute because the hero goes there almost weekly only to meet her. He must be the best combed man of the town. He asks her to be his date for one evening since his mother is trying to pair him with his goddaughter (that is in love with his brother by the way) They decide to have a casual affair, since there’s this great chemistry between them, and it’s so cute because there can’t be anything casual between them since he behaves like a caveman where she’s concerned. At the beginning there’s a lot of lust, a lot of sex and a lot of second thinking because well, he thinks she’s not the right woman for him, he will need a woman who is of the same social status and she’s not that. And he wants to keep their affair secret. Because he doesn’t want his meddling mother to know. After some months he asks her to move with him and to leave her job and the heroine is quite perplexed because she doesn’t want to be at his mercy. It’s obvious to everyone but him that he’s madly in love with her, that the lust has turned into love and that he can’t live without her. When he sees her with another man he hit the roof and confess his love for her in front of all his family. No real angst here because they both agreed to a casual affair- which is clear that was never that- and the heroine herself had many doubts about the hero and the place she could have in his life. What is interesting is the hot chemistry between them, that soon evolved into something more. So no insta love but maybe insta lust that is more acceptable for me, since it’s more plausible that two persons are at first attracted to each other then after some time they fall in love. The book is also humorous because the way the hero is obsessed with her is at the same time very hot and very cute. I recommend it because IMO it has no triggers and its very very easy to read. ...more

There's a trigger, that is the heroine iSusan Napier can write very angsty and disturbing stories or very funny and light ones. This is the second one. There's a trigger, that is the heroine is married, and I know that technically this would be cheating, but hers has really never been a real marriage, but only an agreement between friends. She and her husband have always been best friends, and decided to get married to save their family business, because their families were rivals and they were worried they could ruin one another because of an old feud. So they decided they would marry and pretend to be in love, and when one of them fell in love they would divorce and stay friends. They are indeed bff, but society think they are a very amoral couple, both pursuing other partners whenever they want. Actually the husband seems to have had some flirts while the heroine only pretends. When husband falls in love with the hero's daughter the heroine finds in the middle of a BM. The hero thinks she's a slut and her husband is a playboy, so he doesn't want his daughter to date him. Of course, since he's married. He's a very serious and judgemental guy that - supposedly- hates and despises the heroine, while he's obviously smitten with her. So eventually the truth comes out and while they have to deal with his daughter and her husband, with also a lot of drama since the girl is pregnant and loses her child after an accident, they fall in love and eventually they all be happy together. Meaning that the heroine and bff get a divorce and he's free to date hero's daughter, while heroine and hero eventually get married. Nice misunderstanding story, with a heroine who's not a doormat or a victim and a hero who's a little to cold and unfeeling but, you know, this is SN and when has she ever written of a hero who's good and pleasant. Cheating but not really cheating IMO....more
