Narration 4.5 stars I listened to this in less than a day because I couldn’t stop listening. I loved the rock star plot(and no, I don’t love all rock star plots),the characters, the humor, the romance and just about the whole thing. Fmc is daughter of an aging rock star, who she hates. Not father of the year. She has two sisters she adores and they are all the same age, just with different mothers. She’s just found out she’s losing her job soon and got dumped by her boring boyfriend. She’s going to lose her flat too. A family friend dies and a major rock star comes to the funeral. She doesn’t keep up with music so she doesn’t recognize him and ends up spending the night with him. Through circumstances she ends up having to take care of him while he writes an album. Platonically.
I didn’t realize I was going to laugh out loud so many times. So many books tout themselves as funny and I don’t even laugh once. This didn’t do that(that I know of anyway). So yes, I was very happy that it had so much humor. It’s British and I did enjoy the narrator. Sometimes I have problems understanding some words when the narrator is British but not this time. I thought she did a good job. Very well done romance with wonderful main characters. Side characters were all fleshed out well by the author too-especially her two sisters. I loved it!...more

I was pleasantly surprised while reading this book. It's my first by this author and I was really glad I got this book and the next book on KU at the same time.
It's a college age book, although the H is 28 while the h turns 20 in the book. It's also a professor/student romance although it's not as bad as that sounds. The h has no idea what she wants to do with her life while the H only knows that he doesn't want to be a teacher. They have an immediate connection but the professor is trying his best not to mess up and date a student.
I enjoyed most of the characters a lot and how bonded the friends all became. I especially enjoyed how many times I laughed out loud. It's not necessarily a comedy-but there was a lot of humor at times-always a plus in a book I'm reading.
I would recommend this to adult contemporary or romantic comedy readers. Fun read!...more

Narration 4 stars Laugh out loud funny more than a few times. You can’t tell from the premise how really good this read/listen really is. I loved the main character and the hero was pretty great as well. The romance does take a backseat to the heroine’s role as hired bridesmaid. So funny. Still a sweet romance but not of the lusty sort. Pretty much rated it PG only because sex is casually mention a bit but mostly this is a clean romance. Highly recommended!...more

I loved both of he main characters until the hero really just made me mad. There was of course the “problem” most contemporary romances feature. And this time the hero was an idiot-not going to sugarcoat it. If I was the heroine I wouldn’t have had anything to do with him again. But true love prevailed of course. Sorry if this sounds like a rant-I just finished the book and that part of the book is still fresh in my mind. To be honest, the heroine does some really crazy things when she could just borrow money from her best friend who has the money. That part I could live with because it does cause some humorous moments. The thing is though, I still thought it was a good listen and I’m glad I bought it. There’s good characters and lots of humor and what was for the most part a good romance. So yes, 4 stars and a recommendation to adult contemporary romance readers.

I was laughing out loud throughout. I loved book 1 and this one was good as well. I’m glad I found it recently on KU as I didn’t even know there was a book2. Like the first book, the bulk of this book takes place in India. Through the eyes of this author, India opened up for me while reading each of these books. The people, beauty and culture in particular. Of course the fact that it’s a sweet romance just makes it even better. Recommended! 4.25 stars because 4 just wasn’t enough. ...more

I can honestly say that this is probably the funniest book I’ve ever read or can remember reading. I laughed throughout the read and not just a little laugh. These were side busting laughs out loud. I can see this author duo writing many more rom-coms and I will be first in line to listen when they do.
Andi Arndt was both the narrator and the co-author. She is perfection as a young Minnesota woman living in a small town. The heroine is extremely bright, and has just been laid off as a kindergarten teacher. She wants to do her own thing now. So she takes a job in a recording studio. Pretty quickly, she realizes that the books that are being narrated are women’s erotica. That, of course, goes against all her principles. But hey, she needed the job and it’s just the thing to help put herself out there. The hero is her next door neighbor and is the epitome of what she wants in a man. He’s Intelligent, interesting, handsome, nice and is very happy to have found a job he loves and of course a woman he loves even more. Side characters were mainly comprised of her family members and some people from her new job. They were all just as well realized as the main characters. And also made for some really cringe worthy moments and/or laugh out loud moments at times.
I am going to leave it at that. I found the story to be well written and as I said before amazingly funny. It may be funny but it’s also an adult read. I highly recommend this to adult rom-com readers as well as contemporary romance readers. Or listeners. Now available on the Escape Package on Audible. ...more

I know this is a rom-com, but the main character irritated me. I know that's not what most people are saying in reviews but she just acted too flaky to me. I kept wondering how she could even keep the good job she had. Her mind went every which way for no reason and a lot of the time I was like huh?
Having said that, along the way I started warming up to Peyton and ultimately I did enjoy this read and even laughed out loud several times. The hero? Vince was the best! He might have owned a strip club, but he balanced that with being one of the top lawyers in Las Vegas and also by all his charitable good deeds. He's a good man and very practical. Peyton was his opposite in every way but the two of them just worked together.
It ended up being a good read and I should never have doubted this author. All her books have been fun reads for me and this book fit right in with the rest. If you haven't read Good Girl you should (not totally necessary)read it first as all the characters are all introduced in that book. Plus it's really a fun read. This was fascinating and at The Delight A unique story about a woman with Asperger (high functioning autism) finding her true love with a male escort. This was fascinating and at times, laugh out loud goodness.
Review This book was amazing. I could stop there after telling you to run and buy it, but of course I won’t. It’s the story of a woman with a life wrapped up in mathematical statistics and algorithms. The life suits her and she only rarely takes a day off, working through weekends. Because of this, she is very successful in her work. She owns a sparsely furnished beautiful home and is rarely there, only to eat a lonely dinner and sleep. Her parents want grandchildren and her mother is on her to get married and have babies. To that end, she decides to hire an escort to teach her how to be a better lover and partner. It’s like trying to learn Greek would be for me.
When Stella Lane meets male escort, Michael Phan, her life is turned upside down. Stella doesn’t do well with upside down. All she knows is that she trusts Michael, something she has never afforded any of her other dates. He’s the epitome of patience and understanding. For Michael, it’s a job, one that he only does once a week in order to pay massive bills due to his mother’s illness. He never sees a client more than once due to complications. When Stella breaks through and he allows himself to see her several times-but still once a week-both of their lives will never be the same.
I felt for both of these characters. Stella was beautiful, but didn’t know it, and she truly can’t figure out human behavior. She knows how she should react, but usually she only pretends her reactions. At times, when she shows her real reactions, she really messes up. With men, it’s even worse, especially the few that she tried out sex with. She just doesn’t get what the big deal is. Michael on the other hand, looks like a movie idol, and could have any woman he wants. He comes from a large, wonderfully real family, one that gets by without any help from his cheater of a father. His family knows nothing about his secret life.
Of course, other things happen in this story, but I will leave it for readers to find out. The author wrote what she knows. She was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome in 2016 and that just made the story even more interesting to me. I found this book to be well written, with humor and a bit of honest angst on both main characters part. There’s drama and a fair amount of sensual scenes, but it does take awhile to get there and that was perfectly fine. And did I mention that this is her debut book? More than worth 5 stars, for me!
Highly recommended to adult contemporary romance fans, especially ones that like a unique, heartwarming and at times funny story. (Originally posted on Delighted Reader)

And since I’ve read it or listened to it several times I need to tell anyone that will listen how much I loved this book. It has the perfect book boyfriend in Cam, a Scottish rugby player, who spends his time wearing a kilt and partying. He is only staying in a friends apartment while he’s away for the summer. His neighbor across the hall is really hating all the partying and noise. They meet when she complains. Her companion, a cat, decides that Cam is the person she wants for herself. A traitor! Yes, this is a funny book, but as it’s by Geissinger you can bet on it being deeper than that and of course it is. I loved the whole thing and highly recommend it to adult romance readers....more

Molly Harper is a treasure for all who adore books that are fun, romantic, and easily read. Not to mention flat out good and laugh out loud inducing. Her Jane Jameson books about a young woman learning how to navigate being turned into a vampire were a hoot. And topping it all off, after spending most of my life in Kentucky, it’s nice to read a Kentucky author for a change. Or in this case, listen to one. Now that I think about it, I’ve listened to all of the ones I’ve read so far an there’s a good reason for that. More on that later.
Jillian Ramsey is a anthropologist researcher for the League for Interspecies Cooperation. She is sent to the town of Mystic Bayou in Lousiana to find out why the town is able to live harmoniously with both the supernatural and humans, side by side. This is a world where few know of the existance of the supernatural, but will need to know probably someday soon. It’s getting harder and harder for the league to keep a lid on things of the paranormal sort. It’s her first assignment so it’s a learning situation for both her and a town that suspects anyone not from Mystic Bayou. So she sets out trying to interview the supes and humans alike and becomes immersed in the small town bayou culture and in the supernatural customs. Helping her is the somewhat grouchy police chief and dragon shifter, Bael Boone, and his best friend and mayor of the town, Zed Barron, a bear shifter. And no, there is not a love triangle. To keep things even more interesting, a mutilated body is found not long after Jillian comes to town.
As usual, Harper’s characters are the best part of the book. Jillian is smart as a whip, has her doctorate, and just wants to do the best job she can. She’s tenacious, but not stupid when it comes to getting her interviews. I enjoyed that when someone tells her not to do anything stupid, she actually doesn’t. It was refreshing for a change. Bael is tough on the outside, but has a bit of a marshmallow center. Always fun in a dragon! And Zed is levity personified. He is Bael’s best friend and loves to stir up things for Bael-especially when it comes to Bael’s love life. Also featured are members of Bael’s family, including his weirdo cousin-one that becomes the bane of Jillian’s life at times. All sorts of fun supernaturals round out the characters.
Narration? This is why I listen to all of Molly Harper’s books. Narrator Amanda Ronconi is perfect for all things Molly Harper. She easily became one of my favorite narrators as soon as I started listening to the Jane Jameson books. And that hasn’t changed a bit with this book. What did change this time is the inclusion of a male narrator, Jonathan Davis. He was good, but I admit I would have found it just as good had Ronconi narrated the whole thing. Not disparaging Davis at all though, as I do enjoy having both male and female narrators as a rule, and as I said, he was good. So narration was 4.5 stars for me-rounded up on my Audible rating.
So, good story line and characters, plus dragon lore and romance, made for a fun, enjoyable listen for me. The murder mystery aspect was just the icing on the cake or maybe alligator in the bayou in this case. Harper’s trademark snark is always a welcome addition to her stories and was represented as well. Highly recommended to adult readers of fun paranormal romance. I can’t wait for the next one!
