Thank you, thank you, thank you Sourcebook Casablanca and NetGalley for yet another masterpiece by Alexis Hall.
I know I may have an unhealthy obsession with Alexis, but praise must be made where praise is due. I discovered Alexis not too long ago, always thanks to Sourcebook Casablanca and NetGalley, with 10 Things that Never Happened and I never looked back since. I proceeded to read every single book Alexis has ever written and listen to the audiobooks (particularly if voiced by Will Watt). And you may ask yourself, Costanza aren´t you tired of reading the same author back to back all the time? Answer: no! Alexis is a genius -no I´m not exaggerating -, he makes me laugh and cry in the span of three pages, and his writing style is so witty and genuine that I feel like I´m reading the story of one of my crazy friends even though these are just characters and they don´t really exist.
For Real is the newest Alexi´s baby and if you like spice, BDSM, feelings, self-discovery, and lemon meringue pie, well you HAVE TO RUN THE 11TH OF JUNE BECAUSE YOU NEED THIS. YOU NEED IT.
And bear in mind, I´m not saying this because I am biased, I was very skeptic in the beginning. This was the first time a synopsis by Alexis didn´t immediately capture me. I´m not a big fan of the age gap and I didn´t know if I liked the idea of BDSM, but like always Alexis is just the best. The way he approaches all the themes, the spicy scenes, and the overall plot is just too good. There are various points this book was so gently handled.
I don´t think I have anything else to say. I would probably spoil something and I don´t want to. This book needs all the spotlight like does Alexis!...more

It took me a minute to write this review because this series has been such a big part of my life in the past 3.5 years that I needed time to process. But here we are.
(( I don’t think I can call this a review, it’s more and emotional dump ))
Restless Stars comes after a loooong and painful journey and here I saw how the Twisted Sister wanted to give a price to the loyal ones who stuck with them until the end.
The book was long and sometimes rushed, but there were so many things to untangle that it could be otherwise. What surprised me was how every chapter was actually action packed and something was always happening.
⚠️The characters development was a little under the weather here, and it was a pity. Tory, Darcy, Xavier, poor Max and even Geraldine (who has a personality bigger than life) didn’t totally satisfy me. Like they were there but they were just being.
I am completely, utterly, shamelessly wordless. Coming up with something to describe this book, let alone this series it´s almost impossible, because I am completely, utterly, shamelessly wordless. Coming up with something to describe this book, let alone this series it´s almost impossible, because just one word comes to mind: MASTERPIECE.
I knew Carter and Gavin´s story would have been my favourite. But what is the meaning of favourite when ALL the books in these serie are perfection and were my favourite at some point in my life?
TJ, I can and will give my soul to you, afterall I am already giving you my money, so same same.
Anyway. Since apparently I cannot explain myself, here is a list of things I likes about the book: - GAVIN! - CARTER! - The book from Kelly and Joe. - Joe vulnerability. - GAVIN! - Ox wolf Jesus. - Chris and Tanner platonic whatever (I need at least a novella about them). - CARTER! - Rico´s bright soul and Bambi girlboss greatness. - Robbie and Gordo´s relationship - Elisabeth - GAVIN - Will and his sense of humor - CARTER
10000 starts and all my fucking love to this serie!...more

Thank you, Net Galley and Bolina Audiobooks for letting me listen to the recording of this masterpiece. I am grateful for letting me discover this story. The audio actress was simply amazing and managed to interpret all the nuances of the author's writing style!
I sincerely am at a loss for words for this book. The emotional rollercoaster it brought me in was unexpected and I think everyone, EVERYONE, should read it. It´s a Young Adult book and the protagonist is a teenager, but this book NEEDS to be read by parents, teachers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, doctors, gardeners and so on
The book starts with Emery waking up in a hospital bed and remembering the car accident that brought one of her classmates to death, her brother to OD in the backseat of the car, and her brother's best friend in jail.
Emery is a teenager who feels invisible, she needs to be fine, fine, fine, and not a problem like her brother Joey, or perfectly pretty like her sister Maddie. Emery is the richest girl in town but she is not popular, even though she is hooking up with the baseball star player, but in secret, because she is invisible after all. Emery is the one who needs to be fine, fine to take care of her brother after he comes back from rehab, or fine to not make her mother more worried if she cared enough to see her. But Emery wants to be a teenager and she is tired of having to do the right thing and be fine all the time because she is not. Her brother says he is ok, but maybe he is not. Her mother is in control, but maybe she is not.
In this book, there are so many themes and focus points that it really is food for thinking. This is a story about addiction, about struggling, feeling wrong or invisible, it´s about how misogynistic our society is and how much girls cannot even make a tini-tiny error because they become immediately easy. It´s about losing hope, losing purpose, losing everything. But most are about the consequences of our actions. It´s about how someone struggles and everyone around this person is affected. How your sadness is my sadness when I love you enough, and maybe sometimes you need to lean on me to get better.
In the book, the protagonist is asked by her literature teacher to read a book, of relevance and make a 30-page essay about it. Well, High Schools all over the world. This is the book you were looking for. Nothing against the big classics I love them, but this story, this author, is able to portray a social problem that sooner or later touches everyone....more

--------- It's been almost a week since I finished this book, yet it continues to live rent-free in my mind. You might think, "A week isn't that long," and you’d be right. But during this week, I went on a ski trip to Norway, read three other books, and dealt with a ton of frustrating work stuff. Despite all that, my brain keeps drifting back to this masterpiece.
The Will of the Many is an absolutely captivating story, featuring a badass main character, fascinating world-building, and a unique 'magic' system that had me hooked from start to finish.
My Brief Synopsis: After the Cataclysm, the Hierarchy seized power and established a system where individuals give and obtain Will, granting immense power to those at the top (they receive the Will of many, making them stronger). At seventeen, everyone is forced to participate in the procedure of giving Will, but Vis Telimus refuses. Despite being an orphan, Vis is more educated than most, and when a Quintus offers to adopt him and enroll him in the best school within the Hierarchy in exchange for help uncovering the mystery of his brother's death, Vis seizes the opportunity. It’s his only chance to avoid becoming just another Will feeder.
As Vis enters the Academy, he must quickly rise through the ranks to find answers. He must solve a murder, search for an ancient weapon, and uncover secrets that could tear the Republic apart.
I loved every single word of this book. It’s an addictive story with a jaw-dropping, plot-twisting ending that left me desperate for book two. I can't wait for its release!
I would highly recommend this book to fans of Red Rising and Mistborn. For me, this might just be the best book of 2024. And yes, it's only March, but surpassing this one will be tough....more
