The writing isn’t done well. The mistakes that were made and the incorrect terms for things make me think the author isn’t a native English speaker. There’s nothing wrong with that but when that happens you have to be sure you get a good editor. If this was edited at all, the author should probably ask for her money back.
The story was okay but also left some things hanging and a few loose ends. The conversations were painfully awkward and the steamy scenes just came off weird.
The story had potential so I think if the author did a total rewrite it could be good. ...more

This was a mess. The writing was… not good. The editing was non-existent. There was something wrong with the paperwhite version that wouldn’t let me read past the first few pages so I had to continue on my phone. The story makes no sense. He needs a maid but for it to work they should “get a marriage of convenience”? That’s when I threw in the towel. Wasn’t even worth the time to read 50 pages. ...more

The story was okay it was the complete and utter disregard of giving the reader a professional product that did it for me. The editing was a train wreck, as in there was none. Different characters dialogue were inside the same quotes, words were missing, spelled wrong. Hell, she even called one of the characters the wrong name. Plus the timeline was a mess. She indicates several days have passed but then the next chapter we’re back to the morning after they met.
The entire series was a bit of a mess editing wise but this book in particular was just plain insulting because it was so short. If the author doesn’t respect me enough to edit (or hell, even read through it ONCE before posting) then I don’t respect her enough to pick up any of her books again. ...more

I’ve been reading a fair bit of recent Flora Ferrari’s books and I could tell immediately that this was an older one. I believe it was released three years ago.
The story was thin to say the least… I might just as well ask, what story?
Things aren’t clarified or make no sense. So, why did he have to wait three years? What made him suddenly want to make a move on her? And where can I find this magic pregnancy test that can tell you you’re pregnant after four days?
The characters, especially Nathan, were super one dimensional and have zero personality. She couldn’t even be bothered to give him a job. We never know why he’s rich because he doesn’t want to talk about it he just wants to talk about Aubrey. All FF had to do was say something general like he’s finance or a stock broker. Why is that so hard.
And the writing… wasn’t great. The entire thing was just plane boring and I ended up skimming big chunks of it.
I know I just complained A LOT about this book but I want to say that the author has grown soooo much since her obviously early work. I quite enjoy most of her recent stuff. Bottom line, skip this and grab something that’s been published in the past year. ...more

Some Sam Crescent books I love… and some are like this. It’s like they’re written by a different person or so quickly that zero effort is put into them.
The dialogue was choppy and unnatural. The characters would often have the same conversation more than once only pages apart and act like it was the first time they talked about it. There were so contradictions in the book, sometimes in the same sentence! Then there were sentences that didn’t make any since it all.
The only reason I’m giving it two stars instead of one is because I’m feeling generous and the story was… alright. It’s a student/teacher story and I have a soft spot for them.
I’m actually pretty annoyed that I actually bought this book. ...more

First, I wouldn’t call Simon an Alpha. He seems to just be a regular dude.
Take note that this is a slooooow burn. Luckily, I don’t mind that but some do. However, there were some parts that dragged. Plus, there were points where it felt like the author wanted to show off their knowledge of phisio psychology. There was waaay more in there than needed to be. By the end I was skipping entire paragraphs to get to the good stuff.
The end felt super rushed and I’d call it more of a HFN than a HEA.
Honestly, the writing wasn’t great and the one smex scene had parts that came off cold and almost technical.
What I did enjoy was the concept and the story. I’m a sucker for a student teacher story, especially a slow burn. ...more

This just didn’t work for me. I was incredibly bored and didn’t want to waste the other thirty minutes it would take to finish this out. It’s a second chance romance and while that certainly isn’t the authors fault, they’re my least favorite trope so there had to be some good other things to keep me interested. There wasn’t. I’m rating this one 4 stars based solely on story. The writing was not spectacular and the formatting was downright tragic and confusing but the story kept me going.
Admittedly this is my first shifter book so I’m not sure if what was written here is the norm or not. I picked this up as a recommendation because I was looking for stories with either period smex or the hero taking care of the heroine who was on her period and this fit the bill. So if you’re grossed out by the former this is not the book for you.
All intricacies of a wolf relationship and how the pacts interact were really compelling to me so I at the very least this has inspired me to give another shifter book a try. ...more

I’m very familiar with Nichole Rose. Almost every book of hers I read is five stars and goes on my re-read shelf. I’m sad to say she’s broken the pattern with this one.
I’m not as familiar with Ms Fraser’s work and I don’t know how they split up writing the book but it had some major issues for me.
First, the heroine was somehow both a giggling airhead and a know it all. She was so annoying I wanted to chuck the thing after her first chapter but foolishly I persisted.
There are a LOT of inconsistencies in the writing. The wrestling on the ground, suddenly she up against the tree. Her back is facing him but he’s kissing her lips. And my personal favorite, he asks her to marry him and three paragraphs later she wonders “is he going to pop the question?!” These are just a few.
The story was way too long, it ended up being boring. I kept going for the promise of primal play on the horizon and that was lackluster at best.
I’m just really disappointed and expected more, especially after reading the Invisible man story from this series which was great. ...more

I’ve read close to a dozen Haley Travis books and I’ve rated them all five or four stars. This felt like it was written by a completely different person. I literally had to go back and check the name of the author while I was reading.
The characters were flat and had zero personality. The dialogue was very forced. Jackson’s dialogue was so bad it would have rated a Kraft Single on the cheese scale. The plot was also really shoddy and full of holes.
I think I’m being generous with the three stars on this one, if it was any other author it would have been two. I’ll give the next book a try when it releases because I have faith in Ms Travis and I really hope this was a one off bad experience. ...more

Less than a good read. The writing wasn't very good. I normally love an authority figure/teacher/student romance but I found this one wanting and a bit lackluster.

While the writing was baaad, the editing and formatting were worse. I absolutely would have DNFed this after three pages if I didn't love a possessive, protective alpha male. Talon definitely fit the bill. After awhile, even that got old but the story kept me going.
Then the end... the completely and totally anticlimactic end. UGH! They just let the story fizzle out. And there was no dark moment between the characters. Jordan Silver had such a good opportunity to make Talon lose his mind if Skylar had done some push back and left him for is over-controlling ways. What a missed opportunity. ...more
