Book five in this series centers around Angel Salvatore's apprentice, Daniel Macavoy(view spoiler)[becomes a Salvatore(hide spoiler)] (21) and his fae Ruairí ‘Rory’ Brennan (ancient). While it was better obvious from the start of Rory and Daniel meeting that they would become a couple, it was nice to see it come to pass. I like them as a couple; they are sweet, kind and loving. That's the thing though, the book was too sweet, too loving. Don't get me wrong, it's full of action but it's still so damn cute and sweet. All lovey-dovey. I absolutely LOVED seeing Angel, Simeon and our little dragon.
Towards half the book, I skimmed more than I should. It's not that it's bad, I was just a tad bored. To be frankly honest, I see this series as Angel's series, so he's got my focus. The book itself is predictable, enjoyable enough and has family moments. I love the family moments. I truly hope Cian, Rory's brother's book will be more exciting. However, this author loves to write gentle and kind love interests so I'm guessing we'll get another like that. That said, I do love Cian's more... animalistic side so it could still be more interesting. Overall, I liked it, but I was bored and I kinda just wanted Angel and his dragon. I know, I'm annoying. It was good to see Daniel finally coming into his own though.

This novella help giving Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan and Prince RegentVasili Caville a proper closure. Niko just wants a live with Vasili where Vasili can finally be free, but Vasili believes Niko deserves better. Can Niko show Vasili that is it Vasili he want and love before Vasili pushes him away for good? Overall, I liked it. We FINALLY got to see Niko top Vasili and that was hotter than any other of their sex scenes. In my head, Niko is the top so it's sometimes hard that it is Vasili who tops, except for that one scene. I cannot help it, in my book, I need the bigger, more dominant one to be the top. That is my preference and what turns me on xP

I am pissed. Akiem did not deserve that. Fuck this. Lysander did not deserve that. Fuck that. Fuck a lot of things that happened in this book, in this series. I liked book one, it wasn't too dark/brutal, but book two and three? A little too dark for me. Especially book two, which was worst. Rape is a horrible thing. I still cannot get over the bad representation dragons have here. It just doesn't feel right to me. I hate how much Lysander went through and I hate that he didn't get more goodness. Even when he tries to help, they shoot him down. I don't get how Lysander can continue to be so good after everything. That itself shows how strong he is. That said, I wanted more loyalty. I needed it, in fact. I wanted more of Lysander and Akiem as brothers, protecting each other, Akiem getting a second chance. I don't know why, I just needed it. I wanted more from this book, pretty much. Eh I don't know what I feel. Did I like it? Some parts. Did I dislike it? Many parts. I just... don't know what to feel. Maybe it was just too dark for me. Take the raping away, and I might have liked it more. However, I believe it's the representation of the dragons that mostly ruin things for me. I needed more loyalty and not mindless beats who only fuck and rape. That said, I liked Eroan best in this book, he had redeemed himself from the other books. But nothing beats the beautiful soul of Lysander.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Might Contain Spoilers*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱
This book was a little harder to read. I lost complete respect for Eroan in this book - sure he won some of it back but barely. Lysander did nothing but to help him and Seraph, and Eroan left him for dead. Left him to be raped, which he was, many times. I hate him. I hate how it change Lysander. From being a sarcastic badass to... scared. It breaks me that he is/was broken. That his instincts was now to submit. He was the only light in this book and he deserves so much fucking more. I hate that he had to go through all that, all that torture, all that rape - and it was a lot of rape. While book one had attempted rape, this one had lots of rape and mostly towards poor Lysander.
That said, I still hate the representation of dragons here. Mindless beasts who rape and fuck anything - including "family", torture and has no loyalty. It's a disgusting take on the dragons and I love dragons so this is hard for me to read. While I love elves, dragons has always been superior to all supernatural creatures in my eyes so even though the representation to the dragons here is that most of them are evil, I still find it difficult to cheer for the elves. I have a feeling I will not be satisfied with how this series will end...

I'm not sure I'd ever love an elf from this world but he did have "some" redeemable moments so maybe? That said, I actually want more of Niko and Vasili's journey. I feel like this wasn't enough. I understand that there's a 3.5 book as well, - which I'm gonna read next - but I feel like that won't be enough. I think that Vasili is such a complex character that his story can go on forever. First read review: While this book was the least good in this series, it was still interesting. I do not regret changing my mind to read this series at all. Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan (24/25?) and Prince Regent Vasili Caville (23/24?) were good character and kept things interesting. For some reason, I wanted something more out of this one, yet I don't know what that was/is. While Niko remained strong through out the series - even got stronger - I felt like Vasili lost a bit of his appeal. He was so.... badass in the first book. He still was in book two and three, probably the strongest character in this series, but somehow, in my eyes, he lost a bit of his edges. While I had grown tired of his games and lies in book one and two, he had this mystery to him: he was more than just the flame. Yet as the story went on, I felt like he was just the flame and Vasili, if you know what I mean? I'm rambling; I'm sick so I'm probably not making any sense. That said, I kinda wanted to know more about the elves. Is the rest of Ariana Nash's series kept this this level of darkness or do they go darker? Because this darkness in this series was pretty much my limit. Any more and I'm not interested...

First read review: With the book ending in such a cliffhanger, I'm so fucking glad I didn't start reading this series until all the book was out. That said, I grew tried of Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan (24/25?) and Prince Regent Vasili Caville (23/24?) constant back and forth between hate and barely like. While I liked the sexual and none sexual frustration, I just wanted them to get over it and fuck like bunnies and confess their love. That said, I was a bit confused with the history within this series and the thing with the keys. I hope things get more cleared up in the last book. Overall, I liked it. I'm glad we got to see even more layers to the prince and captain Yasir Lajani of the ship Walla’s Heart was a nice character to add, though I mostly wanted scene with Vasili and Niko.

⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Glad I'm Done With The Series*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱
In the forth book in the series follows Juliana ‘Jules’ Norris (27), a demigoddess with undertones of mage and Realm Walker for the Agency, who tracks deadly paranormal quarry using her unique ability to see magical signatures, and her mate and husband, Thomas Kendrick (nearly a 1000 years ), a master vampire, have to find out who is killing demi-angels. unfortunately, Juliana has a bad feeling about this case and it turns her world anew. Overall, I skimmed a lot in this book. I've simply lost my interest. I can't connect with the character and I don't find Thomas all that hot/sexy. He's supposed to be this badass vampire leader with the largest section of territory of any of the council members, yet not once have I seen him in his apparent position and power. I love my men all powerful and dominant, and Thomas is far from that.
Juliana hides too much from Thomas. I can't see their chemistry and I feel like all Juliana does is boss him around and him letting her. It's more like a boss and employee relationship than husband and wife in my eyes. My problem with this book, I think, is also the fact that while there is tons of supernatural creatures, it doesn't feel supernatural. I feel like there is no true power, when we all know there's always a power structure, but where is it?! Juliana seems to haven no fear for anyone, nor does any of the other characters. This book just doesn't make me feel. It's like I'm on the outside looking in. I believe this is the last book in the series (?) and for that I'm glad. I don't think I could've handled another book of Juliana. She's just not a Kate Daniels/Cyn, and Thomas is sure no Curran/Raphael.
Other characters: → Nathaniel West, a 150-year-old werewolf with an immunity to silver and Juliana's mentor at the Agency. → Michael Bishop, the only one Thomas trust with his life and, more importantly, Juliana’s. He's also friend. Michael was Thomas’s second, the one that would take over his territory should anything happen to him. (view spoiler)[One of Zara's people/clutch killed Michael. (hide spoiler)] → Sara Piper (several 100 years younger than Thomas), Thomas's sister. Her husband, James Piper, Thomas’s brother-in-law, was also an inkmage and the leader of the Gathering. The Gathering was the mage equivalent of the vampire Council, only much larger and more structured. Rachel Juliana Piper, Sara and James's daughter. Sara was killed by Taft in book two. → Jeremiah Grace (looks 30), Juliana’s screener with the Agency and a fire elemental Anna, his wife for seventy years, a Celtic demigoddess of love who retired from the responsibilities after meeting Jeremiah. → Ben Nichols, vampire and Juliana's boss. (view spoiler)[Both Juliana and Nathaniel quits the Agency as Walkers and joins the Wardens at the end of the book. (hide spoiler)] → Raoul DeSoto, a vampire who was a black mage before turning. When Thomas left seven years ago, he left Raoul as the leader of the local coven. Raoul then tortured, raped and left Juliana for dead. Thomas had him captured and tortured for what he's done to Juliana. → Aeron Rowantree, Juliana's father who was one of the higher gods of the dark fae; god of death. → Phipps, the police commissioner, → Warden Hamilton Clayton, a mage; a powerful one. Leader of the Wardens. → Warden Deke, an ogre. → Warden Joshua ‘Rebel’, a djinn. → Gabriel, Angel. His kids, Henry and Maddy; both demi-angels. Henry was killed which starts a new case for Juliana. → Travesty Fulton, an informant and dealer. → Zara, a powerful dark mage and Juliana's mother. Sinister. She was declared an enemy of the Gathering many, many years ago. She was killed during an altercation over an artifact. At least they thought so. No respectable mage would allow their child to bear the name. → Skelly, a reanimated skeleton that used to be dark fae. Juliana summoned him when she was six years old. → Nicholas, works at Roma, the hotel Thomas owns. (view spoiler)[A Wendigo. (hide spoiler)]

In the third book in the series Juliana ‘Jules’ Norris (27), a Realm Walker for the Agency, who tracks deadly paranormal quarry using her unique ability to see magical signatures, is going undercover to find who is killing and dumping blood slaves. However, in order to do that she has to lie to her her mate, Thomas Kendrick (nearly a 1000 years ), a master vampire. Overall, I hated how Juliana refuses to trust in her United bond with Thomas, that she keeps fighting their relationship. I understand her wanting to stand on her own feet, but to lie to her mate, the one she is bound to forever, is pathetic and immature. She choose to mate with him, so why is she so hard on wanting to be separated from him?
As for Thomas.... well for a guy who is supposed to be almost a thousand years old, he doesn't act like it. He's supposed to be all powerful, yet not once have I felt his power. I keep comparing him to Raphael and he fall so damn short that he isn't even in the same category. That said, I'm not connecting with Juliana, I can barely feel any chemistry between Thomas and Juliana as Juliana rarely shows affection - sometimes I even wonder if she loves him, and I'm struggling with liking the story. I will read the last one in the series just to get the series over and done.

Here's the thing... I only cared for Shadow. Besides for a few sarcastic comments from Mera, I didn't give a shit about her. I don't even know why.. Perhaps I'm jealous of her, of how she refuses to back down, never scared to say what she means and so forth. As someone full of anxiety and self-issues, she should be someone I should look up to, yet I just don't care for her. I find her too... annoying and stubborn. Maybe it's because I'm a quiet person that liked to be alone - except when I'm with the few people who I'm comfortable with and that makes Mera exhausting? But luckily, Mera wasn't THAT annoying in this book. She had finally let herself love without being too damn stubborn. Shadow wasn't that weak like in book two. I still love him. That said, the book was so goddamn predictable. I had pretty much guessed everything that would happen in this book. Overall, it was okay, I enjoyed it though I did skim some parts.

Again, I'm quite unsure of how I feel for this book. One one hand, Shadow is very hot. On the other hand, Mera annoyed the shit out of me. She was so quick to judge, to jump to conclusions without giving others a chance to explain. Shadow would do one thing she didn't agree to, and suddenly she owns him no loyalty? Wow. I would never trust Mera at my side. She's so... childish. She's so stuck on the need to be independent - which I understand - but there is no weakness in relaying on others sometimes. She's too stubborn. (view spoiler)[And I'm not surprised that I was right that the author would write Mera as a powerful creature that might be just as powerful as - if not more than - Shadow. Also now his mother is more powerful than anyone. It kinda ruins his usefulness and power; it downplays his part in the power structure. (hide spoiler)]
One question; why didn't Shadow gather information from Midnight on what has happened in the Shadow Realm BEFORE he entered the world again? That said, I don't dislike this series. It is interesting, and I like the world. And I certainly like Shadow (a part of me loves him, I do, but if you read my review for book one; I'm shallow. If you read my spoiler ^^ then you know why. I just don't know what I truly feel. Perhaps I need to stop and think on it for a while. Right now it's too fresh and all I can think of is how annoying Mera and the stubbornness was. I hate that I have to wait until freaking March to read the next - and last book in the series though. I should've waited with reading it. Waiting is the worst. Wonder how the series will end...

*Contain Spoilers* We all know I'm shallow. Especially if you have read my reviews. You know the main male character is the most important one for me. I need him to be the baddest, the sexiest, the most powerful. And I most definitely didn't like that there seem to quite a few that has just as much power as Shadow, if not more, in this book. It seemed pretty obvious to me that Mera, once she's fully embraced her destiny, she'll become either more powerful than him or his equal. Which each person that might be just as powerful or more than Shadow, I kinda lost interested a bit, feeling like Shadow become... less. Less powerful, less unique. I hate when a book is so predictable. I want the male to be at the top, the number one most powerful. But yeah, I'm not surprised that Mera will be more powerful (my expectations sadly). This is sadly - for me - how most authors write their characters these days.
From the ashes, the phoenix will rise.
As for the story, it was interesting. I love shifter book, and I love the enemies to lovers theme. And while I know Mera was supposed to be presented as sassy, she felt more as a chatty girl than anything else. Shadow was supposed to be this all powerful god, yet he as was easily taken down by Torin and Jaxson. I don't like the love-triangle that MIGHT happen in next book. And I feel less excited for book two (and three) considering how this book ended. I know I seem shallow, and I am when it comes to books, I just need my man to be more powerful, more dominate and alpha male, and more dangerous than the female. It's just that simple. Some can write a couple perfect, where the balance of the power between the two is so well written (Kate and Curran; Kate Daniels), but most nowadays is focused on making the female better than everyone and everything else. And while that is great in real world, it's not how I want the books I read to be. The male is what draws me in, the female is a bonus to me. Overall, I did like the book, I just had hope for more, but thankfully I had my expectations low. 3 stars is not a bad rating considering the length of the book and that not much actually happened.
Characters: The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag. (view spoiler)[ → Mera ‘Sunny’ ‘Sunshine’ Callahan (22), senior in college; born into the most powerful shifter pack; Torma, in the world; The alpha was the alpha of all American packs. Dear Old Dad—a.k.a. Lockhart Callahan decided to die via challenging the alpha, making her family persona non grata. They were lower than shit in this pack, and the only reason they were still here, according to her mom, was because the enemy you knew was better than trying to make it out there as lone wolves. → Simone ‘Sim’ (21), Mera's one friend. Had good standing within the pack because of her parent's place: enforcers for the alpha. → Torin, future alpha of the Torma pack. His father, Victor Wolfe (changed his last name to Wolfe), had ruled them for fifty years now with no sign of retiring. (view spoiler)[Shadow Beast, the one wolves worship and their maker, killed Victor. Torin is Mera's soulmate; he rejects her first, but later wants the bond. (hide spoiler)] → Sisily Longeran, the alpha chick of Mera' year. Expected to be Torin's future mate. → Jaxson Heathcliffe (23), Mera's favorite tormentor. He was her oldest friend outside of Simone, but became enemies after Mera's dad's sin. He was best friends with the future alpha, Torin. Mera's dad and his dad had been best friends, second- and third-in-line to the alpha, both powerful and confident men. Jaxson’s dad, Dean Heathcliffe, was the one who’d straight-up gutted Mera's dad, mere seconds after he’d attempted to take out Alpha Victor. Jaxson was beta-to-be. → Lucinda Callahan, Mera's mother and a drunk. → Dannie ‘Dan’ (old?), the wanderer, was a newish recruit into Mera's pack. She’d shown up ten years ago, just after Mera's father’s murder, and had somehow gotten herself added to their register faster than anyone in pack history. She owns Dannie’s Books; the only bookstore in town, where Mera works. → Glendra, the alpha’s mate. Torin’s mom → Gaster (at least a thousand years old), of the underground goblin clan of Faerie; demi-fey. → Lady Hel, a royal of the demi-fey and helps Gaster out at the Solaris System (the Library of Knowledge) as part of her right of passage to her final role. → (view spoiler)[Darkor (hide spoiler)] ‘Shadow Beast’ (over thousands of years), a god, a Shadow Beast, a demon of the darkest worlds; the Shadow Realm. The maker of shifters. ‘Inky’, his shadow. Shadow is the guardian of the vast array of knowledge the Library of Knowledge contains. His protection also extends to any who reside within the walls unless they break one of the rules. He's called on to mediate more than he’d like, but he wouldn’t give up his power or control for anything. (view spoiler)[The reason the Shadow Realm door is barred is because of Shadow: he was born as the next Supreme Being, the true heir, and his family conspired against him, taking his crown and power. He was betrayed by the one who was supposed to have his back, and when they shot him out into the space beyond his world, they barred the door with a spell he’ve never been able to best. (hide spoiler)] → Len (at least thousand years) of the Silver Lands, a prince of the silver providence in Faerie. One of five that Shadow trust with his life; friends. → Reece, from the Desert Lands, a deity. Competes with Shadow in power. And broodiness. Book one occurred in June, book two in August, book three in December and book four starts in February. While the timeline is long between each book, I feel like the main plot doesn't go forward. It's just a new fight in each book, but it's all on standstill. And while it's cute with Wade's continuing eating all the freaking time, it's also getting tiering. It's all he's talking about. I want some development for him - some growth.
Overall, I skimmed some bits in this book, that I didn't do with the other three previous ones. While the story was interesting to a point, it kinda felt like the same thing over and over again, to be honest. I wish we got more depth, more of the feeling that they are actually taking a step forward, and I wish there was more possessiveness between the two main characters. I more Lucien to love and protect Patrick. There's a whole lot I want, and I'm not getting it and it's effecting my enjoyment of the book and the series as a whole.
Characters & Information/Spoilers: The list is LONG so I've put it in a spoilers tag. (view spoiler)[→ Patrick ‘Pat’ ‘Pattycakes’ ‘Razzle Dazzle’ Collins (29), a special agent for the Supernatural Operations Agency: SOA (DC office). → Jonothon ‘Jono’ de Vere (30), a werewolf god pack alpha. An elder who belonged to the Dragon species. → Spencer ‘Dead Boy’ Bailey (30?), a soulbreaker mage, capable of exorcising demons from souls and putting the dead to rest, amongst other things. He couldn’t raise the dead, but his magic had an affinity for death and was too close to necromancy for anyone in the government to be comfortable with. Book one occurred in June, book two in August, and book three starts in December. While I like this book less than the first two, it was still an alright read. I like that you get to see Jono and Patrick getting closer to each other, and the pack getting bigger, but something huge is missing from me, and I believe it's the depth. I need more from it. Less fighting/action, and more depth. I just don't feel the book in a way, if that makes sense. That being said, it was still interesting, but I feel like they haven't really gone any further in the plot. Overall, I liked the characters, the pack and the action (though there was a bit too much action). I did miss Lucien, and I wish we'd get more of those two together, where they actually care for each other. Is that too much to ask for?

That said, I skimmed quite a bit, especially the scenes with Julian. I could barely stand him - now more so since I knew what would happen. Niko falling in love so fast was annoying. Who trusts that easy? But at least it was fixed in the end, yeah? Was the "re-read" aka skimming worth it? I'm not sure. I felt like I cared less with this book this time around. The triggers don't really do it for me. Perhaps I truly should stay away from dark themes? New rating: 2.5 stars. [image]

First read review: I am glad to say that I don't regret reading this book even though my original thought was not to read it - had even shelved it as a 'checked won't read' book. I had originally thought it would be too dark with too little emotions and progress for me like, like for example Captive Prince series by C.S. Pacat and Beautiful Monsters by Jex Lane, with torture, rape and so forth. And while this book had dark themes, it wasn't completely in your face either. I didn't feel like I wanted to throttle someone or rip their heads off and that is a good sign in this genre. I liked it; it was interesting, had good characters and didn't go to far to my liking. It bordered on it with the ear almost cut off and rape, but as the ear is still there and Niko killing his rapist, it was... readable. However, it was a bit predictable; I immediately suspected who is was so when that person was revealed, I wasn't surprised. I will definitely continue the series as I'm curious as to where it'll take us.
Some of the main characters: → Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan (23), forced to become Prince Vasili’s doulos; a derogatory term reserved for criminal slaves—thieves that had been pressed into service instead of having their fingers severed as punishment for their crimes. Though this is only a cover so that Niko and Vasili can talk in private and no one caring. → Prince Regent Vasili Caville (22/23?), first born prince. → Julian, Vasili's…personal protection and guard. Becomes Niko's lover. (view spoiler)[Niko killed him at the end of the book. Julian was the traitor who tried to kill Vasili and worked with the elves. Julian had also killed Carlo, the youngest Caville prince, and was the sorcerer. (hide spoiler)] → Lady Maria, Vasili's aunt. → Prince Amir, Vasili's younger brother (the middle brother). → King Talos of Loreen, Vasili and Amir's father, a mad man. (view spoiler)[Vasili killed him at the end. (hide spoiler)]
What I don't like: (view spoiler)[ - Whipping, both sexually and for torture. - Julian and Niko's relationship turning sexual and in love. They would've been better as 'friends' in my opinion. - Rape and torture, even though it was off page with Vasili and in the past, and on page with Niko being raped by Julian while drugged. (hide spoiler)]
Quick basic facts: Genre: - (Adult) Dark Fantasy Romance (M/M). Series: - Series, Book One. Love triangle? - (view spoiler)[No, not really. Niko is in love with Julian and vice versa, but Julian also loves Vasili, but Vasili isn't capable of love according to Julian. Then there's the fact that Julian was evil the whole time and is killed in the end. (hide spoiler)] Cheating? - (view spoiler)[No. But Niko kissed Vasili when he was 'seeing' Julian. They haven't talked about exclusivity. That said, Julian and Vasili has a somewhat relationship as well where Vasili whips Julian in bed - though not sexually. (hide spoiler)] Triggers? - (view spoiler)[Rape, violence, betrayal, abuse, torture. (hide spoiler)] HEA? - (view spoiler)[No. (hide spoiler)] Favorite character? - Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan. Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes, I believes so. Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes, if you like dark themes. Will I read this again in the future? - Who knows. Rating - 3 stars....more

I need book four right now. Right now. I truly like Scarlett Dawn's writing style, I like her characters and I definitely like her character's development. It's fast forward and easy to like. This book, is so far, the best in the series. I like that we're seeing Athon and Trixie getting slowly - almost too slowly - closer, even though they got a long way to go. I can't wait for more and I hope that we won't wait long. That being said, the mission in itself in this book was more a side plot and the focus, at least for me, was showing Athon and Trixie take a couple of small steps closer.
He pointed downward at himself. “And this is better than a fine cock. It is a magnificent cock.” I held my hilarity at bay, keeping a straight face. “Yes, you are right, of course. Magnificent.” “Awe-inspiring.” “Yes, yes.” Men were so silly about their dicks. “Most definitely, your one and only.” His golden crown glimmered in the dim lighting as he leaned down to place his face in front of mine, his white hair falling over his muscular, bare shoulders. “There would be no reason for you to stray because you have the most magnificent, awe-inspiring cock at your disposal.” “Yes, I remember.” I rolled my eyes. “Are you done now?” “Not in the slightest.”
Characters with some information: The list is long so I've put it in a spoilers tag. (view spoiler)[→ Penelope, Trixie's Fae-gifted pegasus. → Traevon Towers (one thousand two hundred and fifty years), King of the Elves (Gatlin Grove, the Elf Kingdom’s capital city) and Trixie's father who has ruled a thousand years. Javon, the King's Fae-gifted pegasus and Penelope’s sire. → Isabella (over two thousand years old), Trixie's grandmother. LOTS OF INFORMATION -> (view spoiler)[Gets killed in the beginning of the book. Though her shell (body) may be dead, but her Fae-spark is very much alive (a ghost/spirit). The King guess is that ‘‘Only a pureblood Fae can completely bring someone back to life, as they did with the five originals who kept killing each other. So I believe Isabella has been Fae blessed, sent for a higher purpose, even if she is without her earthly body.’’(hide spoiler)] → Minnie, the King's soul mate and Trixie's mother. → Caspian ‘Cas’, Trixie's cousin and the nephew of the king. The King's best - and secret - assassin and Trixie's best friend that slipped and told her about his assassination of the previous shifter king for the King. → Queen Alora, the merfolk queen. → King Elon Haxx, the Gorgons king (can turn you to stone?). LOTS OF INFORMATION -> (view spoiler)[Both he and Alora is incredibly close - always have each others back/back each other's ideas. They’ve ruled the longest of any of the kings and queens. It’s near impossible to break them apart, and even harder to disagree with them. They’ve seen too many rulers come and go, except for themselves. The two believe they are better than everyone else. - Egotistical and a superiority complex are their weaknesses. (hide spoiler)] → Queen Mikko Boone (300), the caster queen for mere fifty years. LOTS OF INFORMATION -> (view spoiler)[Brilliant but too big of a heart. She cares too much. She cares about everything. If she’s not careful and doesn’t start using that brain of hers, her tender heart will be her undoing and her younger sister - who is a pain in the ass - will kill her off to take her place. (hide spoiler)] → King Athon Alistair (500, turns 501), of the shifters of three hundred years and was the only tiger shifter to be born in history. LOTS OF INFORMATION -> (view spoiler)[He and king Traevon will continuously fight because Traevon screwed up killing Athon's father when he didn't know just how powerful Anthon was. Although Traevon sit right in the middle of longest to shortest years on the throne compared to the other rulers, he have always had the most power in my Fae-spark—until King Athon took the throne. He is only five hundred years old, less than half Traevon age, and his power rivals his own. He fear to think how powerful he will be when he is Traevon current age so he needs to around to keep him in check. Since he has no heir and Athon's father killed all their relatives before Traevon could kill him, Traevon hasn't had him assassinated. Though despite how ruthless and cruel he can be, he is a great ruler to his people. He keeps the shifters in check, which is hard to do with such an unruly kind. Traevon has yet to find Athon's weakness. Traevon's weakness is his family - he is the only ruler who is soul-mated so far. (hide spoiler)] → Bishop Marzel, personal assistant and personal guard to King Athon. → Louie, the name of the four Misfits (gremlins). The fourth Louie is black - the one without soul and has the real authority. Red Louie was the one holding the string of destiny (the triplets got all the powers that the Fates had after eating them). Blue Louie held the death strings. → Axel, Athon's Fae-gifted pegasus. → Marlon, Trixie's uncle and the king’s advisor. Caspian's father. → Bortia, a powerful gremlin (dark Fae). Not one of the Misfits. Athon kills him after he figured out Athon and Trixie are soul mates. → King Ula Cromay, King of Dragons. There are only three dragons left, Ula included. His people were used as weapons in the great scourge, and they were mostly wiped from existence. Fairy is not what it once was. So Ula is in the Kingdoms (in Trumbalay) with the remainder of his people. → Ruiuen, the white-winged wolf who keeps showing up when the Rulers + Trixie finds an artifact, and both times she wishes to speak to the soul mated "couple" to give them gifts. While the book was still interest, - just as book one - I actually wanted a bit of romance, or at least some improvement/development between the two main character. I liked that short, but gently moment the soul mates had. I hope we get more of those! I still like the characters, though again, I want more development regarding the relationship that isn't a relationship. While I know I only have to wait a couple more days for book three, I'm dreading the wait for the rest of the books that is planned (author hasn't yet decided how many books the series will have). I want them all now. I want to binge read.... Please don't let me wait long, I beg of you. That said, I enjoyed the book. It was fast forward, easy to read, didn't have too much information and a little action. I want more depth though...
