You probably haven’t heard of S.M.Landon. Stef is a new author, with this only being her 2nd book. It’s a gamble trying a new author, but if you want to FEEEEEL, you need to read this book. Stef has this incredible capacity to make you burn with emotion - heartache, rage, frustration, happiness, & deep love. The writing hooks your heart…

Noah is reluctantly in college, and acts out to be able to leave. He is rescued by his Dad’s work partner & friend, Sawyer. Instant attraction, and despite the age difference and being Noah’s dad’s best friend, they fall quickly into an intense relationship. Sawyer is a calming influence on Noah, reigning in those brattish tendencies, but Noah’s past comes back to chase him.
I’d guessed the plot twist before it happened, but good effort made to give multiple possibilities for the “who dunnit”. Enjoyable, easy read, but be aware of content warnings for triggering content...more

Like spine-tinglingly gorgeous writing, and an emotional story that deals with really hard topics. It’s starts with extreme violence, and ends in the most sensitive, sweet & intimate love story. I legit sighed in happiness & had little tears in my eyes on the last paragraph.

One of the shorter books of Tal Bauer’s, but adrenaline-charged & filled with drama & action. Always love this author’s political/military thrillers with obvious deep knowledge of defence force protocols & processes.
I particularly appreciated this deep look into the cultural and social dividing lines for black people and the racism they experience. A significant part of the book was set in Africa, and I noticed the deep research into the complexities of the West’s relationship with a continent often tearing itself apart with civil war.
There is a lot of medical drama in this book, and as a health professional I appreciated the medical accuracy. Oh, and the guys were SMOKING HOT together!

PHEW. Now THAT is a ride and a half! Another book by Nyla K that held me captivated, had me needing a cold shower, and had me squirming with discomfort in equal parts.
First, the captivated bit. It follows on from the first book in the Alabaster Penitentiary series, and yes, you absolutely have to read them in order. The first book leaves you with A LOT of unanswered questions. This book centres around 3 of the guards who were minor characters in the first book - Velle, the head guard; Joy, the second in charge; and Rook, the newest team member. Honestly, when I saw this was an MMF, I nearly didn’t read it. I haven’t read MF romance for a few years now, because I prefer MM+. But I’m glad I did read this, because Joy wasn’t your typical clichéd “soft & sweet” female lead. The dynamic between the three of them is some of the HOTTEST STUFF I’VE EVER READ. And, for this middle aged woman who’s read A LOT in this genre, I learnt stuff. HOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEE! Tatts, piercings, voyeurism, food play, toys galore…. and best of all…. SEX ON A HARLEY. ...more

Partly because there are so many warnings by the author, begging people not to give spoilers. Which makes it hard to review as a consequence.
There’s a lot of hype about the massive twist in this. So I held my breath waiting for it all the way through. The plot was unexpected in a lot of ways, and really kept me avidly reading & putting life off to keep devouring it. The steam factor was dialed up to super hot, and the characters were original. There were some pretty traumatic noncon/dubcon situations which made me squirm, but surprisingly they weren’t enough to stop me reading, because I wanted to get to this huge twist….
So the second reason why this is hard to review is because I ended up disappointed. I had actually guessed the twist very early on, reading all the way to the end to realise I had been waiting for nothing. I already knew. But the frustrating thing is that there were so many aspects that were inadequately answered by “the twist”. All these unanswered questions (which I’d already messaged to my book buddy @Stephanie!) are acknowledged by the author at the end of the book, again with no answers but the hint that they’ll be answered in future books in the series. I dunno if it’s just me, but that’s kinda annoying. It doesn’t make sense, other than as a sales technique for the author. But I think all that has happened in this circumstance is that it’s left this book incomplete and rushed. Weird to say, when it’s over 400 pages, but there was so much potential to make it more.
Despite all this, it IS GREAT. That’s why I’ve stuck with 4 stars, when I was contemplating 3 stars. Oh yeah, and the s3x was spicy AF…. ...more

The only other author who writes psychological thriller/MM romance this good is Tal Bauer, and I never thought I’d say this but Nik and Ben are up there in my fave 3 couples, only beaten by Tal Bauer.
This is just spectacular. Their love is palpable, the drama is “need-a-break-or-my-heart-will-explode” intense, and the progression of Ben & Nik’s connection is EVERYTHING. Each time one of them doubts that connection, the other responds to prove the depth of their love.
This one actually had me gasping, and crying, and raging, and bawling. And I loved every minute of it. A little far fetched at times (or these guys would be the world’s unluckiest couple), but it’s a great ride....more
