This book makes it into my top tier book settings because a cute little Welsh coastal town? Sold!
This was a slow burn which I always say I hate but I’m actually a liar because I lap it up lol.
Some parts of this book were difficult to read for me but in a good way? A lot of the time when I read book with autistic characters I struggle with how palatable their autism is made. Like it’s a quirky superpower and not something that can be incredibly difficult to live with and also difficult for your friends and family at times as well. I found myself getting mad at Dax for the same things I get mad at myself about. He was a lovable character but he felt like a realistic portrayal of an autistic person. I also liked the fact that finding the love of his life didn’t just make him ‘overcome’ all his autistic traits which is a pet peeve of mine.
The author also did a great job with the side characters in this. I loved them all and I’m excited to see where she goes with the rest of this series. ...more

I love a good second chance romance and this one was sweet. I’m not gonna lie, at times Journey felt very Rain coded but I’m not mad because I love these types of characters.
One of the things that sometimes annoys me in second chance romance is them not having a good reason the separate in the first place but I thought this was done really well here. You could totally understand why Journey needed to up and leave and you could also totally see why Cameron couldn’t just go with him. I thought was done really well.
I felt like their prolonged reunion relied a bit too heavily on miscommunication but also human famously don’t communicate well so it is what it is lol.
This author does side characters really well, I loved the small town eccentrics and it really made the story a lot of fun.
While I didn’t find the narration to be bad or distracting, I just didn’t find that he did the two MC’s voices differently enough. I was often confused about whose POV I was in and I couldn’t immediately tell by the voice.
Overall though it was enjoyable and I’d recommend. ...more
Wow. This is probably the best debut I’ve ever read. It’s actually one of the best books I’ve read so far this year.

Sweet, messy, co-dependant Alek and Ian, I love you both. If Ian was my friend, I’d have told him to run far away from Alek and never look back. But also I would take a bullet for Alek. He was the morally grey character you felt like you should dislike more than you did. Because he’s also absolutely hilarious and apparently I’ll forgive a lot for a funny character.
This story was beautifully written. Every single sentence in this book delivered this poetic prose that managed not to feel pretentious. It all just flowed and it was a joy to read.
CW - suicidal ideation.
Gosh, some of this stuff was difficult to read. Having had serious bouts of depression and experienced suicidal ideation myself before, reading Alek’s experience really hit close to home. The author managed to perfectly balance the low with the sheer apathy and almost clinical detachment to being alive or dead. Going on the journey with Alek wasn’t easy but it was worth it.
I wouldn’t recommend reading this while in a difficult head space but outside of that, I can’t recommend it enough. One of the most stunning stories I’ve read in a long time and I can tell that Alek and Ian will be remaining on my mind for quite some time.
Thank you to Booksirens for the free ARC of this book. This is my honest review....more
I think I need to be done with this series. I actually liked Ty and Lane and I still loved Macklin but Walker can get fucked.
Walker was manipulative I think I need to be done with this series. I actually liked Ty and Lane and I still loved Macklin but Walker can get fucked.
Walker was manipulative and just a bit of a dick. Him and Ty had no chemistry so I was not into that whole weird thing. I’d rather read more about Macklin getting fucked by tentacles than have to read any more about Walker and Ty thank you very much.
I need to read something normal before I permanently alter my brain chemistry. ...more

I really liked both the main characters and I struggled to put the book down for the first half especially. The actual writing was great and I was impressed that a story with a ‘groundhog day’ premise, didn’t actually feel repetitive to read.
My main issue is that the plot relied heavily on miscommunication and withheld information. I really struggled to buy into why Percy wouldn’t have told his best friend/boyfriend that his mum was dying and the plot of the story was completely riding on this fact. I wasn’t sold on Percy’s motivations to keep all this from Chris. I did think that Percy’s fears around coming out were written very well and felt very authentic.
Overall I enjoyed the book but it was longer than it needed to be. I will be keeping an eye out for future books by this author though because I really enjoyed the writing style and the story felt like a fresh take on a time loop scenario. ...more
