Un po' come l'Ulisse pascoliano, L'UOMO DEL LABIRINTO è un thriller psicologico che scava nei meandri reconditi della mente umana, dove la paura riesce a secretare gli avvenimenti più abominevoli e i ricordi più inquietanti. A chiedere chi lei sia è la prima protagonista di questa storia, Samanta Andretti: tredicenne rapita e a lungo tenuta prigioniera. Molti anni dopo viene, improvvisamente e misteriosamente, liberata, ma i traumi e le ferite, fisiche e soprattutto psicologiche, le impediscono di ricordare chi è e chi l'ha tenuta segregata. Ricoverata in una stanza d’ospedale, il rassicurante dottor Green cerca di recuperare i suoi ricordi, scavando tra i suoi traumi. Accanto alla vicenda di Samanta, c'è un'altra storia. Infatti, due vicende scorrono parallelamente a capitoli alterni. La seconda storia è quella di Bruno Genko, un uomo che non ha niente da perdere. È l'investigatore privato, incaricato del caso nella scomparsa di Samanta Andretti, sedici anni prima. Ha saputo della ricomparsa della ragazza e vuole risolvere il caso, catturare il colpevole, prima della polizia, mantenendo una promessa fatta ai genitori, rimasta sospesa nel tempo. È così che Bruno Genko dà la caccia al peggior tipo di sadico, quello più interessante, il sadico virtuoso. Ma la caccia prosegue su un doppio binario: quello nel mondo reale, condotta da Genko, e quella nella mente di Samanta, portata avanti dal dottor Green. Tante sono le risposte da trovare, tanti i personaggi che ritornano dal passato. È opera di Luca Bontempi, classe 1989, esperto del genere supereroistico, ma anche appassionato cultore e creatore di fumetti. È stupefacente vedere come uno dei generi erroneamente definito minore, in quanto si tratta di una vera e propria "letteratura disegnata", abbia avuto invece un enorme successo nel corso degli anni, una larghissima diffusione mondiale e anche un'evoluzione, ricca e rilevante, seguendo i cambiamenti culturali e storici della società. Partendo dalla sorprendente complessità del linguaggio, costituito da testo e immagini, e passando per la consolatoria e rassicurante struttura narrativa alla base del fumetto, Bontempi ne delinea quella che è la ricchezza. Narra la storia del fumetto nelle varie età: Golden Age, Atomic Age, Silver Age e Bronze Age. Se, agli albori del genere, anche i creatori di Superman, Siegel e Shuster, hanno avuto difficoltà a trovare chi apprezzasse il loro superuomo, dal 1938 in poi, molti sono stati gli altri eroi che hanno visto le loro avventure narrate nei fumetti e non solo. Quasi tutti i supereroi moderni, chi prima, chi dopo, sono approdati al grande schermo. I fumetti e i supereroi si sono evoluti stando al passo con le nuove tecnologie e non hanno smesso di catturare l'entusiasmo degli appassionati del genere.
