I adore ghostly love stories, and this is what this was, along with some sort of demonic curse, paranormal hunters, and public sex in a hotel hallway.

I kept thinking that the characters Kate Harper created were depicted with quite a bit of depth for which a short book. I was also wondering why it was taking me so long to read 90 pages. I thought that maybe it was due to a change in my medication. Color me silly. I picked up a full length novel.
I wish I had known, so I could have leaned back and settled into the story instead of wondering how it was going to get wrapped up. Regardless, I enjoyed this tale of a gay, trans metal musician and an artist.
Kate Harper wrote an incredible depiction of a trans man, Carlos, providing us a history via flashbacks. She even gets into the nitty gritty of sex and treats her characters with grace and respect. Some of the memories he provides are heartbreaking to read.
There’s so much more I could write, but it’s way past my bedtime.

This was a delicious and tension-filled friends to lovers short by the oh-so-talented Suki Fleet. This is one of my favorite tropes, and it felt new and fresh in her hands. Add a little bit of OFY from one of the characters-ya, sometimes it does take awhile to figure out you’re not heteronormative—and this story set in the Welsh Valleys was pure gold. I cried, I laughed, and my heart got all sorts of warm and tingly reading this....more

I especially liked the flashbacks between each of the Olympic dives that drew us in to the relationship between these two Canadian divers. (Wow, I kinda wrote the same thing the first time! At least I’m consistent, lol).
First review: Cute, sweet, short and filled with anticipation! I liked the two different timelines and the setting of the Olympics....more
Lacy panties! Delicious, truly. And some wicked sex scenes. This pair of authors is one of my favorites.

Like another reviewer said (Michaelle) this book felt somewhat frantic in parts. And I think it’s true that reflected both hidden parts of the characters. In Dan, the police officer, the desire to keep his boyfriend safe and uninformed; in Niall, the dance student, his abusive past, lack of self confidence, and addiction to frilly underwear (but who could possibly blame him for that?!)
I’d love to someday read a full-length novel from these two. Until then, I’ll settle for their amazing character driven short stories....more
Short, graphically violent and disturbing with gang rape, step-incest, non-con sex, non-con drug use, grooming, pseudo-child exploitation.
The writingShort, graphically violent and disturbing with gang rape, step-incest, non-con sex, non-con drug use, grooming, pseudo-child exploitation.
The writing was confusing at times. I expect dark with an M. Caspian book—this one made me twist and grimace with the shadow world she depicted.
It’s my least favorite of hers so far not because of content but due to the choppy writing and the fact that the MC seemed excessively weak and the secondary characters (Pop, in particular) difficult to imagine.
My rec? If you’re into the grooming and exploitation of an 18 year old who can pass as a 15 year old by older men, go for it. If not, you’d do well to skip this very dark short in which the only good thing is a shape shifting dragon thrall. ...more
