I had no idea what to expect from this book. What I got was simply WONDERFUL!! It made me laugh, and giggle, and engaged my imagination in picturing cat-like aliens with prehensile tails lusting after a human omega while attempting to escape the clutches of enormous insects!!!
It was AWESOME! This one ends with a lovely ménage and a cliffhanger, so be prepared to read the next one.
This was my first book by this author and I was so very entertained and impressed!!!!...more
I'm blown away right now. I'm not sure what to write since I'm still trying to process this story of love and aliens and A Galaxy of Stars and Wonder!
I'm blown away right now. I'm not sure what to write since I'm still trying to process this story of love and aliens and stardust and bacon.
It's no secret that I'm a HUGE TJ Klune fan. It's no surprise that I'm rating this five stars. But when a book leaving you feeling overwhelmed by the power of love (yes, cheesy, I know), of possibilities, of transformation--when it does that and leaves tears running down your cheeks--a book like that has earned five friggin stars.
I went into this reading completely blind. No blurb. No other reviews. I preordered it. It showed up on my Kindle. I read it. I immersed myself is more apt, though.
So, this book is about a man who has lost everything. It's about another man who has o my one thing left to lose. It's about a girl who calls herselfcArtemis Darth Vader. It's about how together they all find the meaning of love and family.
No, this is no kinky three some. Yes, there is a romance between our male MCs--one that's long to burn, with an HEA or HFN at the end of the novel. No, this book isn't explicit sexually--it's something this book didn't need. You get one scene. It's a good one. Be happy.
This is a book about being on the run. About government secrets. About fear. About control and lack of control. It's about the dichotomy of love and hate that defines humanity. And what human beings and aliens will do to preserve the better parts of humanity.
Yes, I'm rambling and not making much sense. So what. I fell in love with Artemis Darth Vader, and Alex, and even Nate (who wasn't the best guy near the beginning of the book).
So. All the stars in the night sky for this book and like the humans who find that they are not alone in Klune’s book, I hope I'm not alone in my praise of it....more
The blurb for this book was right up my alley and I’m so happy to say that what it promises it delivered, and more!!
ThSOOOOO GOOD!!! 4 Stellar Stars!!

The idea of time travel enthralls me. Add to that a non-binary alien hoping to stop a future dystopia, a possibly gay scientist intent on saving the race, an everyday guy who gets thrown in the middle of a most secret project, an intriguing cast of side characters and you’ve got a winning book.
I loved the quiet and stubborn humor in Vardam, the alien...it’s subtle but very present. For some reason Vardam is drawn to our doctor. Why? I can’t say. Honestly, he’s the least interesting of all the players in this book, but the most important. Read it and you’ll see.
My fave? Aside from my tentacled alien, of course, was our regular-off-the-street “Tom” who finds himself in the middle of a pharmaceutical throw down as an interpreter for Vardam. We get to see him also develop a romantic relationship with another doctor on the compound.
Is this perfect? No, as some other reviewers pointed out. Was it fun? Yes! Intriguing? Yes! Creative? Yes! Would I read another book by this author? MOST DEFINITELY!!
Well, since this is a romance, there is an HEA, so maybe the fact that there is a world left to live in at the end won’t spoil it for you. Cause it would pretty much suck if everyone fell in love and then the world ended, wouldn’t it?

What was missing for me that would have really rocked this book was UST. Langley totally missed the boat on this one. Yes, we know that Colton has been pinning for Captain Sebastian Wentworth for years. Now Sebastian suddenly realizes that he's attracted to the young man. So whats the first thing he does? No, he doesn't try to contain his feelings, he doesn't try to deny the attraction, he doesn't let any tension build. He goes and kisses him without any build-up. It sucked. And not in the good way.
Something else that didn't work for me was the lack of a glossary for all the characters. How am I supposed to remember who everyone is from the first and second books (which I read a while ago), without a list with their titles, etc? Langley doesn't even provide reminders for the reader as to who is who. This book only works if you binge read the series.
This book had a third POV--that of the king's. It was weird and it was all devoted to immature matchmaking. I didn't get it and it seemed superfluous.
The Mystery and the IN angle didn't work here.
Sebastian's big secret didn't seem that big.
What I liked: Colton being a bossy virgin.
I'm tempted to give up on this series because this book resulted in way too many eye-rolls....more
