Fehlt nur noch mein Ansatz, der natürlich aufgrund der Chronologie schwer haltbar ist: John Jasper ist unschuldig! J. K. Rowling wurde bekanntermaßen von Dickens stark beeinflusst und wer hat größere Ähnlichkeit mit Jasper als - ja, genau: Severus Snape. Wem traut man alles Üble zu und wer ist am Ende nicht nur unschuldig, sondern auch ein unglücklich Liebender? Genau!!! (less)...more

As a German I know a lot of german anthologies and best-book lists, but here I could see another perspective, a perspective from the point of englisch-speaking nations. I rediscovered a lot of good old friends - not only Germans like Erich Kaestner's children books, but also novels like 84 Charing Cross Road, Disgrace... The chapters are very well definded in some fiction and non-fiction areas. Of course, I missed some of my favourites, but every list has to remain incomplete....more
