“ In order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Eighteen months ago, Darcy lost her fiancee in a car accident. She’s struggling with moving on and letting go. She’s not sure that she will ever find what she had with Jace ever again.
Carter had an emergency kidney transplant, and ever since, he’s been trying to dig his way out of the medical debt and strain it’s put on others in his life. He’s tired of not being able to get ahead.
Darcy’s car breaks down one day after she’s leaving the doctors office, and she’s late for work. No one is around to help, her family is out of town. Discouraged, and not knowing what to do, she picks up her phone to call a tow truck. Carter is a mechanic and hears the clicking of the car next to his. He knocks on her window and little do either of them know, life is about to change for them both. As they grow closer, they struggle with being honest about their personal issues, until one day, a truth they’ve been holding back, threatens to shatter what they have built.
This was my first book by Amy Clipston. I was immediately drawn in by the forward in the beginning of the book, it talks about how the author actually lived a piece of this story, because her husband had a kidney transplant. It was such a great read, and the characters were very likable. Through the authors writing, I could sense her heart was close on the pages, having gone through a similar situation. It was such a sweet, clean, romance that gave me all the feels. It was so much more than just a romance, it dealt with many issues including adoption, trauma, loss, and many more. Will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future. ...more

Basing this book strictly on enjoying it is easy. I really enjoyed it. Did I still have issues with it- yes, yes I did. Does it matter- probably not. I just have lots of questions, but when I sit back and try to think of how to ask those questions, I realize I just don’t really care that much. This book entertained me and I really like this author. She has got a lot of talent and I’m kinda proud of her honestly. I see through all my overactive brain haze at what she’s attempting and I applaud her for it. So I think I’m just going to leave it at that. Would I recommend it ? Yup!! Will I read the next installment… Absolutely. ...more

In This Moment, main character Maggie has 3 paths set before her 1861, 1941, and 2001. When she goes to sleep in one, she wakes up in the next. As she has reasons to stay in each path, she much choose one before her 21st birthday, to stay in forever.
Love the rich history in these books! I feel like I’m switching time every time Maggie does. Having lived in 2001, it was easy to feel transported. While the historical aspect of this book is amazing, the romance was the main focus in this installment. Just when I thought I had it figured out and knew where she would stay, something would happen and it would totally shift gears. While this one did have my head spinning a bit in the beginning, I ended up really enjoying it the more I read. I became fully invested in each character. These books have a lot of hype , but personally I can see why. The author has done a fantastic job with this series, they are so unique and worth the read. I can’t imagine what she has in store next and look forward to the reading the rest of the series....more

“Only God is in control of our destiny. He alone is sovereign. When we try to control the people and events around us, we are telling Him He doesn’t know what’s best for us. We’re setting ourselves up as our own gods, elevating ourselves above Him. It’s a dangerous game”
Libby has a gift which allows her to live in duel timelines 1774 Virginia and 1914 New York. Each night when she goes to sleep she will live her whole other life the next day and pick up where she left off in the opposite. In 1774 she lives in hardship with the family she adores. In that same time is the love of her life. In 1914, she lives with wealth and status with her loving father and overbearing mother who tries to control everything. On Libbys 21 birthday- she must decide which timeline to live in indefinitely. The choice may seem simple… but will she choose the right path that God has in store for her?
I’m not usually a fan of time travel books, but I thought this one was fantastic. The author did so much between the pages. She somehow spun a tale rich with history, duel timelines- with faith intertwined. Libby was a lovable character, and was focused on only doing and following Gods will for her life. She faces lots of trials but finds a way to overcome them all. The relationship she had with her mother in 1774 was so sweet and I really enjoyed reading those chapters. The ending had such a surprise I can’t wait to start the next one! Would recommend !

This was my first Kendig novel and it was great! It was super intense with a very interesting story line. It reminded me a bit of Jason Borne, Captain America with a side of Jack Bauer. Everyone wants to get their hands on The Book of the Wars, which is an ancient religious text, that is said to have proof of wars to come.
I really liked the banter the characters had. Reading this gave me a little break from what I normally read. Very action packed (military/CIA) with a slow burn romance. Will be checking out the rest of the series in the future. ...more

This was so unique. Imagine writing your own story and you fall asleep and you’re transported into it. You think you know how it will all go and also how it ends but your characters are not as they appear. Your story says so much more about who you are than the characters being portrayed . I loved the purpose behind the plot line, the writing style and everything in between. Mrs Fischer knows how to teach a lesson with her books. “Fear is a manipulator, forcing us to act in ways that aren’t ourselves.”
It begins like a fairytale, a wedding, the gown, and the perfect Prince. But Rose doesn’t know who he is- or who she is for that matter. All she knows, is when he grasps for her hands, she doesn’t want any part of it. She runs from the altar into the forbidden woods. Nobody who gets in, comes out. As she makes it to the entrance, she’s helped by a curious stranger. When she enters the woods- her only plan is to remember.
A Forest of Stolen Memories was definitely a fairytale with a twist. In the beginning, it was true to its name- A backwards fairytale. Everything literally felt backwards and that was cool. I liked the characters, but they fell a little flat. The plot, while it started off with a bang- by the middle had me wondering what I was reading. I did not like Alex, his character was whiny and obviously way too obsessed with Rose. There were some things about the magic system that didn’t make sense to me and I started losing interest towards the end. I think the plot was way too predictable and it just made it fall short for me personally. I think some people will really like this one though, it does have good elements about it, but it wasn’t my favorite. ...more

"Winter covered everything in white like a blanket of wool beneath a rising sun.”
Warrior. Survivor. Daughter of the North.
From the moment she is born, Brighid fights to survive in the wastelands of Nordica as a clanless one. But when a new power arrives offering a trial to join the Nordic warriors, Brighid enters, hoping to rise above her station. Soon she becomes one of their fiercest fighters and joins the war against the south.
What an excellent start to what I am sure is going to be an amazing series. I love a good Viking story , so when I opened this up - I can honestly say what I was expecting and what I got were two totally different things but in a good way and I’m not upset about it. The writing was simple, yet powerful and held my attention the whole way through.
Winters Maiden takes place during the Nordic wars where in my opinion, we have good facing off evil. It’s a story about Brighid who was abandoned at birth and has no real true identity. We follow her along this journey as she grows up in poverty and has to struggle her whole life, desperately seeking out who she is and trying to find her place.
About half way through the book we are introduced to Kaeden who is an Elderon, someone who supposedly follows and hears from “The Word” and carries the light within them holding the powers to heal and see things inside of others by the touch of their hand. Ever since his parents died he hasn’t felt like he still has the gift within him. He is summoned by his mentor to the front lines of the war to help with healing. It’s there when he begins to feel the power within him start to awaken- especially after he meets the Mighty Nordic Warrior.
My only complaint-when the book ended I felt like it was just beginning! I didn’t want it to end. The plot felt like a story for today using beautiful faith elements. Behind these Nordic wars is a force that is blinding people with false hope. It’s fed by lies, promises and propaganda. The two MCs are on a journey to find themselves and a way to escape the bondage and find freedom from what stands behind the curtain. A chance to bring freedom to two nations.
