This book completely took me by surprise and reminded why I love the paranormal genre so very much. Get ready for a darkly entertaining vampire story that leaves you breathless and craving more with each turn off the page.
I have to admit, I really didn't have high hopes for this book. I thought to myself, it looks interesting enough, maybe I'll give it a shot. I find myself like many others, totally worn out on the whole Twilight vampire paranormal genre.
Surprisingly, this book was actually quite fantastic. The characters were very easy to fall in love with, the plot was fast and entertaining, and I couldn't put this book down! I found myself turning page after page well into the night, because I just had to find out what Pandora had to remember and what was going to happen next!
If you're like me, and are sick of your typical vampire paranormal book, then you need to pick this book up immediately! This book has it all: betrayal intrigue, fantastic paranormal characters and a knock you out of the park twisted plot. ...more

I was fortunate enough to receive a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.
Wowzers!!!!
Did I mention how fortunate I was to get a copy of this book!? Because, it wasn't just fortunate. It was as if the book gods looked down upon me and smiled. They said, our poor avid fantasy lover reader has not found a new series to fall head over heels in love with this year. We must remedy that. Here, have this book!
Okay, book gods and all aside, this was freaking fantastic. I mean seriously, it has the best recipe for a freaking amazeballs book. Its like the author made a check list of all things phenomenal and somehow managed to include every single thing on her list without even having to try! The book was absolutely along the lines of being epic with the author making it look effortless.
The characters are kick butt fantastic. I mean, come on! Who doesn't like a sassy strong female lead who has the worst jokes this side of the continent? Its just a big ball of awesome. A new twist on fae in a modern world has a needs no saving criminal with morals lead character with a midget sidekick genie with a knack for disastrous wishes and the ultimate hands-off-no-touchy-bad-boy-dreamcicle. Yeah, its that kind of awesome.
My only real disappointment is, that while I've been supremely lucky in receiving an arc copy of this book, who knows when the next book comes out! ...more

Summary: Trouble is Elena Manory’s middle name and constant companion. Her adopted brother Lucas is missing and her body is going through further bizarre and surprising changes. Killing has become second nature and distancing herself from the men in her life as a hobby. But more trouble is on its way: The institute of Magical Intervention wants to harvest Elena’s blood for nefarious intent; the werewolves plan to dominate, feed and breed with her; and, to add insult to injury, a psychopathic vampire hell bent on revenge is relentlessly hunting her. Kidnapped and kept under constant duress, Elena’s salvation once again rests in the cold hands of the enigmatic William Granville. Blood is on the menu and her earlier fears of turning hairy at full moon are well founded. It’s time for Elena to sharpen her claws and kick some serious ass.
My Review:
This is still awesome series, but.... my God, can we please get to the freaking climax already? i need to know what is really going on and this continuous build- up with no release is starting to slowly kill me!
I love the writing though. The author does a phenomenal job capturing the exact tenor of emotions and the complexities of each individual character. Its just that I need... more?? Trust me, I'm just as confused as you are right now.
I just want to the story to keep moving forward and while yes, we definitely get some questions answered in this installment, I just feel like we are at a stand-still. In my personal experience, this is what normally happens in a trilogy and I call it the "the 2nd book filler syndrome". This is where I am at with this series.
Although, I am most definitely excited for the next installment, I just need it to be more than this one was....more

Another smashing hit in one of my new favorite series! I absolutely friggin' love these characters and the story that this author puts together.
I'm serious, these are my favorite characters of 2016. Wait.... I think I've just created a new goodreads bookshelf. Yup, I totally did. I mean it though, when I wasn't reading this book, all I was doing was thinking about Elena, Sebastian, Lucas, William... you get the idea.
This author is extremely original and she definitely keeps surprising me! Every time I think I might have something figured out, bam! I'm wrong. Being wrong has never felt so good. I keep getting these little hints of the upcoming darkness and I've gotta tell you, I'm totally hooked. Things are definitely about to take a turn for the worse and I know its going to be a fantastic third book.
This is the second time I have read Demons at Deadnight and honestly, its only gotten better. Like an trThird re-read: Yeah, this book still kicks ass.
This is the second time I have read Demons at Deadnight and honestly, its only gotten better. Like an true book nerd, with the approach of the third book (finally!!!!) about to be released, I needed to make sure that I was completely and 100% knowledgeable about all things Aurora and those hexy knights.
I swear, this book will make you laugh out loud with the witty sarcasm and you'll definitely want to strangle the characters and hug them at the same time. There isnt another book out there that even comes close to producing what the Kirk's have done here. This book is a freaking comet shooting through the sky with a bunch of dull back lit stars. I've even entertained the idea of using 'gifs' to explain my absolute love and cult like worship of this book but alas, I've restrained myself... barely...
To top it all off, I've even managed to coin one of the Kirk's sayings. Everyone thinks I'm so witty when I say "I've got grace management issues". Even my boss has started to look at me more fondly and with appreciated humor after he filled out his 6th incident report in just as many weeks.
Truth be told, I'm hopelessly and enthusiastically down right addicted to this series and the phenomenal writing, characters and of course 'smokin' hex boys.

This was a brilliant second installment in Derting's Pledge Trilogy. The writing is flawless and the plot had me rushing to turn the page.
There were definitely points in this book that I felt fell into what I call 'second-book-filler-syndrome'. It's exactly what it sounds like - when a book had things that happen because it needs to 'fill' a hole. Unfortunately, it usually adds little or nothing to the plot but at least in Derting's case, it was somewhat intriguing and entertaining.
None the less, I'm excited to continue on in this trilogy....more

After finishing the last page of this book, I was left with one coherent thought : What is wrong with me?
Why did I ask myself that? Because, I just don't know why it took me this freaking long to pick up this book. I'm serious here people. I'm baffled. I have no idea why I haven't devoured this book sooner, but, now that I have, consider me hooked.
This story... My god, this story! I'm left speechless trying to sing its praises. I just don't know how to quite put into words just how amazing this book is.
It's phenomenal. Epic. The reason that the fanasty genre exists. Mind blowingly fantastic.
That is how I would describe this book. Not even for a second will you find yourself trudging through this book trying to get past a certain part. Instead, you will find yourself captivated with each chapter, paragraph, sentence, word.
This is the absolute best example of the fanasty genre and the author is, by far, a stunning example to her peers.

Reader Beware!!!!
This is most definitely not your typical beauty and the beast tale. You will not find any hints of Disney's romanticized happily ever after in these books.
This is a much darker tale of magic and horror all rolled into one phenomenal retelling of 'a tale as old as time' and I absolutely freaking loved it. I lived and breathed this series. I consumed these books like a dying man gasps for air.
This series is dark and twisted and horribly devastating. And let's not forget the raw romance and the primal nature of the sexuality rubbing rampant in this series. This series took our most primal instincts and urges and showed how we rise above them. It really shows what separates man from beast.
If you're looking to fulfill your craving for a darkly reinvented twisted fairytale, look no further!...more

... I'm addicted to this series! I most definitely just read the first two books on one sitting. I can't even begin to describe how awesome it was too read them back to back except for the fact that sleep is now a foreign thing to me and who's, I've got so many things to do today... Being an adult sucks sometimes.
Anyways...
This series is just so captivating to me. I love the plot and the characters kick ass. The tension with the romance is building and I'm about to burst. I want, no, I NEED to know what happens next! I was totally thrown through a loop when Declan became the front and center with the mate bond. I definitely did not see that coming.... At all, although I hey this nagging sense that I should have.
Either way, I absolutely love this series and am disappointed that book three isn't out yet....

Freaking. Awesome.
My inner book nerd is doing its happy dance. I loved this book. Do you know the feeling when you finish a book and you are grinning from ear to ear and you have that little bit of shortness of breath from excitement? That's what this book did to me. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, I'm sorry, but we obviously can't be friends.
The author did a fantastic job with making her storyline and ideas shine through with originality; especially in a genre that has been suffering from a lack of creativity. This book has been very aptly described as a dark fantasy and has more than lived up to my expectations. It has, in fact, far exceeded them.
There is plenty of artfully placed conflict, romantic tension, dark motives and manipulation woven throughout the entire book. It left me wanting so much more and I'm practically desperate to keep reading.
Aria is a fantastic kick butt heroine. She's smart, fierce, sassy without being overdone, and an all around fire wielding badass! And thank the book gods... no stupid freaking insta-dumb-love. Thank you Jesus. In fact, while there is a definite romantic tension element, it's not the focus of the book and it only adds to the story instead of blindingly taking over the book.
This book was a definite win for me and if you are anything like me, it's sure to be a win for you too....more

Derting has shot this one out of the park with her intense world building, dynamic characters and of course, a sinister and rebellious plot. I'm seriously amazed with how Derting comes up with such phenomenal ideas and I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on the next two books.

Ummmm yeah, I still can't figure out why I only gave this book 4 stars the first time around.... I think I said something goofy about not enough hex boys, but whatever. I actually found that I enjoyed the book even more so reading it the second time around without as much hex Boy action. I'm sorry, I know I'm going to be hated against for the rest of my Pep Boy reading days, but I just can't stand Aurora with Ayden. It's time for Aiden to move over and hello Cristiano. I love this book even more then the first time and I will definitely be changing my review to reflect five stars rather than 4.

Okay. Here it is. The review of the book that I have been waiting to read all year. I just could not, could not find it in my entire being to give this book five stars all because of one reason....
...... Where the HECK did my Hex boys go? Its like, they were background noise in this book. It was utterly depressing.... But....
But....
Hello Cristiano.... Please come seduce me any day of the week Mr. Seduction Guru. I mean, wowzers! I think I need a fire hose to put the flames out. Fer realz. Goodbye Ayden. I'm sorry, you lose. Moving on... The Kirk's of course deliver another spectacular installment in one of my very favorite series. My biggest complaint is that they don't write the books fast enough for me! I need them now. All of them.
The writing is of course filled with witty humor and an insane amount of non-stop plot twist after plot twist. I loved every minute of it and I cant wait to reread it just so I can enjoy it all again!...more

Very rarely have I ever read a book that was just completely average until the very last five pages. And in those five pages, the entire book blows my mind. Like, totally-dumbfounded-top-of-my-head-blown-off-mouth-left-hanging-wide-open. I mean, I can't even think of five times that this has even happened to me while reading a book, but here we are.
Barnes delivers a sucker punch to the gut third installment in her The Naturals series. Like most, if not all, of her novels, the characters are written well and have extreme depth and dimension. The actual plot is pretty good as well, although it follows the same type of occurrences as the first two books, but that's to be expected of a crime solving group of teens. It's really the ending that's going to get you. I'm serious.
I'm so stuck on how freaking jaw dropping amazing the ending was, that not much else compares or competes throughout the entire book. I'm extremely excited to see where this takes us in the next book in this series....more
