GOLDEN IN DEATH is an amazing, enthralling story that will leave you breathless. Fifty books into this series and you wonder, what can the author do next to top the last book and J.D. Robb pulls out all the stops with this one. Her mystery of who the killer(s) were left me hanging until mid-way when I finally started seeing the clues as Eve, Peabody and the gang rustled them up as well. The story is full of twists and turns that just had me on the edge of my seat and I was glued to the pages till the very end since I wanted to see how this story would end. GOLDEN IN DEATH is a true marvel as the author does a masterful job capturing the confusion Eve finds when she is assigned this baffling case. I just could not put this book down, even to go to sleep. It was that good.
What makes this series so beloved with her readers is the way the characters continue to grow with each book. Eve and Raork especially are connected on a soul level that comes across perfectly in GOLDEN IN DEATH. They have been through so much in the last several books that it is nice to see the connection between them grow stronger in this new book. Some may complain that not all of Eve’s friends, etc are involved in this fiftieth book but then we wouldn’t have a story that is so compelling and addicting. We got the core group (Eve, Roark, Peabody, McNabb, etc) involved with this one and it works just fine with the group that is needed by Eve. With an addition of a new secondary character or two, the reader can enjoy a storyline that could be cut right from the pages in the future.
GOLDEN IN DEATH works because the author delivers a complex mystery to solve filled with compelling characters that literally step from the pages and into your living room. They are bold, well written and just downright amazing in my opinion. This is an author that knows how to craft a story that will leave you breathless. If you enjoy a high-octane story that will eave you eager for more than I urge you to run to grab GOLDEN IN DEATH. It’s truly a masterpiece and now I can’t see where this author goes next in the fifty-first book.

But as they settle in this new life they made, a danger grows in the distance.
Lycanthropes are attacking under a strange banner and rumors are circulating about an old god returning to earth. Whomever this god is, danger grows, and deaths are coming fast and furious. For Fury, Tam and all their family and friends, this danger scares them to death and Hecate warns Fury that if we can’t stop them, all we have built in UnderBarrow and Willow Wood will be decimated forever.
Wow is all I can say after finishing FURY’S MANTLE and I can honestly say hold on to your hats, ladies and gents, its about to get bumpy. Ms. Galenorn delivers another wonderful heart pounding installment in the Fury Unbound series and it is one that has twists and turns around every corner. An old god has returned to earth and in its wake danger and chaos comes. Lycanthorps are massing under this god and deaths follow as they move toward Willow Wood and the UnderBarrow. I was glued to the pages of FURY’S MANTLE to the very end and I can say this has got to be one of the best books so far in this series and that isn’t because the first four are not as good. Nope, this takes Fury and the gang on a new adventure, one filled with uncertainty, danger and death every time they turn around. This is an author who just takes Fury on a wild ride right off the bat and in the end, the reader is left hanging on for dear life. I loved every minute of Fury’s adventure and loved at how much she has grown since book four, Fury Calling.
FURY’S MANTLE gives the reader a glimpse into the world Fury and Tam have created in the last eight years since the second world shift. Some of the gods stayed with humanity and began to build up their temples again, survivors tried to live and grow in a world they no longer recognize, and Fury became a Queen of the UnderBarrow as well as beloved to the goddess, Hecate. Life moves on and as Fury grapples with all the changes that have happened, danger mounts and it scares her spitless. I love, love, love Fury. Her growth is tremendous in a sense she is finally at peace with her marriage to Tam and being a queen. She is also feeling pent up as she hasn’t done much work for her goddess, Hecate, the last several years. But times are changing, and Fury learns to adapt and roll with the punches. I love how much all of my favorite characters have grown since the last book, Fury, Tam, Jason, Elan and more all have grown even as they loved and moved on as best, they can. The characters are vibrant, alive and just so entertaining. This is an author who knows how to create characters that fairly brim with life and jump off the pages and into your living room. Even the gods play a major part in this series and all are just as unique and enjoyable as the main characters.
FURY’S MANTLE kicks off a new story ARC in this world and its one I am chomping at the bit to read more of. The ending of the FURY’S MANTLE is a little bit sad, a lot happy and there is a few twists that I sure didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to see where Ms. Galenorn goes next in Fury’s world and I am eager to see if Fury will take up arms yet again next to her goddess, Hecate. If you enjoy a character driven series that just sucks you in and keeps you up for hours to see what happens next, then I urge you to grab this series. You can start from book five, FURY’S MANTLE, but I strongly urge you to start from the beginning in order to see how Fury got to where she is in this latest book. You won’t be disappointed.

With the discoFor seventeen-year-old Lyra Daniels, traveling across the Milky Way can suck big time, especially after leaving all her friends behind. With the discovery of Terracotta warriors on other planets, Lyra’s parents are the premier experts on the Warriors. When the warriors were discovered on over twenty exoplanets, Lyra’s parents are thrilled to discover another planet to explore and discover new information on how the Warriors got there. But even if Lyra likes traveling to other planets, the time dilation sucks because it can put her years in the future. But as Lyra and her parents travel to the newly discovered planet, she finds solace in annoying an impossible security officer who threatens to throw her in the brig and illegally worming into the Q-net. For crucial data files on the Warriors are going missing and looters are spotted on the new planet they are at. Time is of the essence and for Lyra, it’s either try to help or die.
NAVIGATING THE STARS is Ms. Snyder’s foray into the science fiction/futuristic genre and I got to admit she delivers a marvelous, intriguing start to her new Sentinels of the Galaxy series. The story is full of adventure, amazing characters and a story that basically kept me glued to the pages till the very end. This is an author who I fell in love with in her Study fantasy series and her new book, NAVAGATING THE STARS, is just as good if not great. The story flows smoothly and quickly with a few twists I sure did not see coming. Add in the mystique of Terracotta warriors and other planets, well you got the earmarks of a story that will either ride off on a rocket or go down in a heap. I am happy to say this one blew me away and then some.
Meet Lyra Daniels. Her parents are the experts on Terracotta warriors and when a new planet is discovered housing them, they are thrilled to go and see what the warriors have to say to them. But Lyra doesn’t want to leave her friends and life on Xinji. Alas, she leaves with her family and finds comfort annoying this cute security officer who is around her age and illegally worming on the Q-net. I really enjoyed Lyra. She surprised me at times with her maturity and yes, she does have moments of being a brat, but it fit the way the storyline was going at those times. I enjoyed reading about her thought processes and how she see’s puzzles in things, especially in the Q-net. She is intriguing and a perfect MC (main character) to root for. I got to admit all the characters are entertaining, in my opinion. You got Lyra’s parents who are typical scientists, full of excitement over new discoveries, then you got the annoying gruff security officer, some secondary characters that just made me giggle at times and more. All are entertaining on their own, but all together kept the story flowing at a quick pace.
NAVIGATING THE STARS is a pure gem of a book that literally has me anxiously awaiting the second book, Chasing the Shadows, just to see where the group of characters goes next in the series. The ending left me gasping in shock as the bad guy was one, I sure didn’t expect and one that left me wanting to know more of. Ms. Snyder delivers a perfect book to while a snowy night away with a mix of action/adventure, a little romance and a mystery that will keep you engaged right up till the end of the book. I look forward to seeing where the author goes next in the series and hope it won’t be too long of a wait for it. This is an objective review and not an endorsement...more

But there is a traitor in their midst, one who will stop at nothing to stop Fury and her friends from stopping Lyon from opening the door to the Chaos realm.
FURY CALLING is a heart stopping wild ride from start to finish. The author has been leading up to this book in the first three books and we get the satisfying conclusion to this story arc in FURY CALLING. But let me warn you that you need to start from the beginning of this series, Fury Rising, to understand all the characters and events mentioned in FURY CALLING. I just fell in love with this series right from the start. Ms. Galenorn delivers a story that spans four books, includes some of the most amazing cast of characters that I have read and a storyline that just held me in thrall. Her attention to character development and storyline advancement is phenomenal. I got to admit this author’s way into world building just awes me to pieces. The story flows smoothly and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat till the very end. Hang on to y our hats, readers, it’s about to get wild.
FURY CALLING is a story about new beginnings and endings, happy and sad. With a breakneck speed, the story winds its way around you as you flip the pages and race alongside these intriguing characters. The twists and turns this author gives the readers kept me glued to the pages. You will laugh, cry, smile and cheer even as some sadness as these beloved characters find themselves at war with Lyon and the Order of the Black Mist. Can they stop this manic from unleashing even more horrors upon the world? Will Gaia unleash another storm to corral the people here on earth? This author does an amazing job in keeping the reader glued to the pages and I for one am eager for more. So even as this story ARC is done, I am hopeful the author comes back to Fury, Tam and the gang in the future because I would love to see what they are up to and what storm awaits them in the shadows.

The final battle looms as Roland edges closer to Kate’s territory. Can Kate save all that she holds dear or will she fall in a blaze of glory as her enemy’s circle around her?
The final book is here in a series I love so dang much. Ilona Andrews delivers a pulse pounding, action packed ride from start to finish and with the final book here, we see Kate and ex-Beast Lord, Curran try to marshal their allies as they face an enemy that they haven’t faced before, one that could end all of what Kate holds dear even as she also fights on another front as her father, Roland is determined to possess her son and take over the world. Poor Kate. All she wants to do is live peacefully with Curran and their son but alas, Kate has a reputation and with the final battle between her and Roland looming, let’s just say the readers get quite a thrill in MAGIC TRIUMPHS.
I loved the final book in this series. MAGIC TRIUMPHS deliver action, romance, twists and turns at every page that had me glued to the book that I read it in one day. This is by far the book readers have been waiting for. Kate and Curran’s romance is the core through the whole series as each character grows with each book, their love for one another has stayed constant between enemies trying to take them down, a father who is determined to get what he thinks is rightfully his and more. In MAGIC TRIUMPHS, two years have passed, and Kate is trying to keep Atlanta safe, raise her and Curran’s little boy who has his own scary and unique powers and try to learn everything she can about her powers from her aunt Erra. Add in Curran’s new powers are changing him and enemies who now must be allies. Ilona Andrews delivers so much packed within this final book, I can’t even think of how to describe it. Its full of returning characters that you grew to love (and hate), new ones that are so intriguing and we get to know more about Kate’s family’s past and what happened so long ago and more within these pages.
The authors deliver a story that will satisfy the readers as well as give Kate and Curran the ending they deserve but not without sacrifices. I won’t say too much on who dies, who leaves and more but suffice to say, your jaw will drop, and you will be stunned speechless. MAGIC TRIUMPHS deliver a story that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it. Its thrilling, emotional and downright captivating from start to finish. I laughed, I cried and then smiled in happiness as I closed the book. It is truly a book that will stay with you even as you sit in silence to absorb all the revelations and twists.
Thank you, Ilona Andrews, for creating a series that just got better with each book and for giving us, your readers, an ending that will steal your heart.
