I must admit I had no idea the "right/left brain personality" shtick is all psuedopscience until AFTER I got the book as a gift. However I was still curious as to what it had to say so I went ahead and read the thing.
I wish there were more examples of how to apply these ideas, but I'm sure thats deliberate as they want you to buy more of their books....more

Its not merely a self help book to conquer time management, but rather a one sided discourse on it. Burkeman reads the book with zest and makes the experience of listening to the book as if you're at a coffee shop with him and he's had one too many espressos, and is focusing all his energy on downloading into your brain all he knows about time management, a topic he is extremely knowledgeable in.
For those looking for specific help, there's a list at the end for ways to help you focus your time management better. Or at least, be less anxious about how you spend your time....more

I’ve always liked the idea that what you get is the same as what you put out; do good in the hope of receiving good in return. That when we speak honestly and without fear we feel better, and so do others that receive our positive words, unhindered by fear. At work I remember giving honest feedback whenever I could, if critical I would mix it would a compliment. In time the entire attitude of my team improved.
Glad I picked up this little book on a whim. ...more

I read the book in an evening and left feeling like I read chapter summaries of a much larger text. However, I found quite a large majority of what Johnson has to say very interesting, the connections he makes. I think one should read this, then go and read Jung, as this makes a good introduction to ideas more fully explored by Jung.
In everything, there is a duality. A balance is the goal. ...more

There’s wisdom to be found here, but I feel like she could have said more about imagination. I do agree with what she has to say, about how each of us have the power to create change, that we don’t have to be Harry Potter. A good read. ...more

I am not a spiritual man so all the god stuff was hot air for me, and a lot of the advice is grandmother-ish advice, besides some that are sold a little too new-agey but at the core is some good advice: change your thoughts and you change your life. Beyond all The Secret bull$jit, if you do think positively it'll change your attitude, which improves your health. Makes sense to me. So there are some good advice here, I just dont think I was this book's target. ...more

Fast forward, now married, we found the book and decided to finish it. So, parts of it we skipped. However a lot of these questions we thought were good for those starting out. Some of them are written with a sense of humor, which always took us by surprise. Others are very loaded questions that almost seem to try and test the new relationship.if you’re looking for such a book As this I think this will do the job. ...more

I understand they were originally blog posts, but a majority felt rudimentary to me. Which is fine, especially if that is something someone like a new writer is searching for. I just wish there could be added some additional resources or something similar.
There’s quite a few interesting topics here, and even though I didn’t do the workshops, their suggestions were often very interesting (I will more than likely attempt a few at a later date). I enjoyed reading the book as a way to keep my mind fresh on these topics as working full time I don’t always have personal time to think about writing process and nuts and bolts, etc. ...more

The book is not the best thing ever, but if it's the first self help book of this type that you've read (as in my case), it's a nice way to break the ice per say, and start te wheels turning on fighting the war against procrastination.
I recommend it for anyone who wants to be more of a productive, timely person (once again, such as myself).
