I feel like while it wasn't needed to enjoy this, it enhanced my experience. Faith Sutton has a no footballer rule for a number of reasons, amongst them being her mother owns the Washington Wolves. Dominic Walker is the newest member of the team and he's got an attitude. He has a lot of baggage and he's back in his home town. There's a pretty decent betrayal of grief in this and the little You Got Mail thing was cute. There's a lot of push and pull between Dominic and Faith and there's plenty of emotion in this, both good and bad. If you like an equal mix of sweetness and angst, pick up The Lie. You won't regret it. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own.

4.25 stars I've not read a book in the Callahan series for what feels like a minute, but it sure felt like coming home. I love this So glad to be back
4.25 stars I've not read a book in the Callahan series for what feels like a minute, but it sure felt like coming home. I love this family with all their struggles are still as tight as tight can be. This is finally Sinclair's story and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. He wasn't always portrayed in the best light in previous books but he seems to have (albeit forcibly) turned his life around. Now he's a year sober and ready to join the baseball dynasty that is his family business. There he meets S&C coach Frankie. This is such a good and solid redemption story although it deals with some pretty heavy topics (both are recovering addicts) and the new path they both need to tread going forward. I couldn't put this down and I can't wait to read the final book in this series. ...more

It's so easy to sink into the couple, the sports world (whatever it may be but in this case hockey) and the friendships and just have a really darn good time. Player and coach's daughter isn't new to the genre but there wasn't the usual angst that goes with it. This was soo darn sweet. Leo was completely gone for his dream girl from the start. Scarlet is quite relatable because she not only doesn't have her life together, she really doesn't know what she's doing. And can't we call relate at least a wee bit?? Frankly this was great and I can't wait for the rest of the season. The audio was ...more

Something about the way this author weaves a story always punches me in the gut in the best way. There's a bit of everything here; a second chance story, family drama on both sides, tragedy, angst, steamy times and heartbreak and healing. I've come to expect all or most of those things from a CB book and each and every time I think I've read my favourite book of theirs, the newest one comes along ans says, "Surprise! I'm here!" Highly recommend for sure. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own. ...more

As a fan of the sport of MMA I'm really picky about my fighter romances, and this had a pretty good mix of sport and romance. It wasn't 100% accurate, but Grace should be given at times. On top of that Shane and Brooklyn had a fantastic connection and there wasn't any stupid drama. The conflict felt real and it could have really went down the misogyny route but didn't which we always appreciate. I'm once again kicking myself for holding off on this as long as I did. ...more

But despite everything Patrick and Nyeena go through together and separately their connection was a thing of beauty. You might need tissues for this one, because it really is emotional. I love how the crew comes together for whatever their captain needs. I also love how despite how vile Peck's parents are Peck and Phin could still have a relationship, even if they had to fight for it. I want more from this series, please and thank you if for nothing else I want more of that incredible friend group. I volunteered to read and review an advance copy of this. I love the massive friend/family group and all the Easter eggs I'm sure I'll grin at when I get around to finally reading the rest of this series. This yet again proves that friends to lovers is superior and Ryan might be one of the swooniest heroes I've read in a minute. Amara is fiercely independent, but her circumstances have made her that way and she has the best kid. Add in all the Covenette shenanigans, the "next gen" scheming and all the humour and this was really out of this world good. I dragged this out because I didn't want it to end. Worth every minute. There's only a little bit of angst in this and I think that some people might find Dean a little immature, especially at first, but I'm really glad I picked this up because this series is just sweet, saucy, funny and refreshing. ...more

In fact this is probably the best high school sports romance I've read in a minute. The angst was on point, the drama was top tier and the side characters made me desperate for the rest oft his series. My heart ached the whole way through for Lily. I just want to be her friend. And Kaiden...yum. This made me really happy but I'm low key hype for what's next. I volunteered to read and review an early copy of this. All opinions are my own. ...more

This book is a couple hundred pages of pure fun. It's not entirely fluff and it has a certain chaotic energy that I'm totally here for, but it's pure sunshine. It's cute as heck and I couldn't be happier that Asher and Kole have each other. I'm crazy about this entire series and i high key hope it never ends. Hazel for one thing. Like...did she apologise for her behaviour no. Was it forgotten about, mostly yeah. Also Jake definitely didn't grovel enough or see that Hazel played him like a PS2. That being said, I kinda love Brenna and I was invested in the banter and the rivals to lovers situation between Jake and Brenna. The chemistry both in and out of bed was pretty solid but the side characters didn't hit for me....more
