I knew this book was going to be about Trick and I didn't know how I felt about that. There was suspicion, bigotry, murder, and just cuckoo craziness happening within this book. Just like any Suzanne Wright book the heroine, Frankie, is sassy and gets into it with Greta.
I have followed Suzanne for a very long time and I appreciate the fact that her heroines always have a backbone however I cannot see myself distinguishing between all of the heroines at times. The only one that seems to not blend is Ronnie. Frankie sounded like every other girl that has mated it into this pack. I just would like more from the heroines versus just snark.
Trick on the other hand was a good hero. He was not pushy nor was he judgy. I knew that Trick did not have a particular preference when it came to partners however I was really hoping that Trick would be gay. I know that in the Mercury pack there are two gay characters that are mated however I actually wanted a full book with two males finding out that they are true mates.
Frankie's backstory is disheartening because she grew up thinking one thing her entire life and out of the blue she realizes that she has a whole other family that loves her and wants to get to know her. There are people out there that do not want that to happen. The way that she lost her parents was a mess and I felt bad because no child deserves to go through what she did.
The relationship between Frankie and Trick was sweet and at times funny and did not have an abundance of angst. I love a story that doesn't have too much drama between the couple because sometimes drama is not necessary. ...more
