Das E-Book ist seit dem 1. April erhältlich und ich war so gespannt, was so viele unterschiedliche Autoren aus dem selben vorgegebenen Thema gemacht haben. Wie es der Titel schon verrät, ist das verbindende Thema die Epidemie bzw. der Lockdown. Dabei sind die Kurzgeschichten selbst jedoch sehr unterschiedlich und abwechslungsreich geworden. Es gibt zarte Liebesgeschichten und vorsichtige Annäherungen auf benachbarten Balkons, in neu gegründeten Wohngemeinschaften oder im abgelegenen Hotel während des Lockdowns. Die Geschichten spielen dabei jedoch nicht nur in Deutschland oder der Schweiz, sondern beispielsweis auch in Irland oder sogar vor phantastischer Kulisse. Neben romantischen oder gefühlvollen Geschichten wird es jedoch auch spannend und teilweise dramatisch, als düstere Geheimnisse aus der Vergangenheit aufgedeckt werden oder eine Hausärztin von ihrem Alltag in der Pandemie berichtet. Wir erleben eine Serienkillerin, die sich auch von der Pandemie nicht von ihren mörderischen Vorhaben abbringen lässt, während in einer anderen Geschichte zwei Kleinkriminelle mit der unerwarteten "Arbeitslosigkeit" während des Lockdowns zu kämpfen haben. Für mich als Fantasyautorin waren natürlich die phantastischen Geschichten am Ende der Sammlung besonders interessant. Ira Potter ist eine Autorin, die unter ihrem echten Namen phantastische Kinderbücher schreibt, die ich stets begeistert verschlinge. Auf ihre Kurzgeschichte "Die Haut des Afanc" war ich daher sehr gespannt. Aber auch "Agnes und die Pestilenz" von Jan Bosse und "Wohin der Wind dich weht" von Linda Schirmer konnten mich sehr fesseln. Okay, ich gehe auch kurz auf den Inhalt von "Ulpirris und Qroks erster Fall - die magische Nies-Epidemie" ein, obwohl ich meine eigene Kurzgeschichte bei der Bewertung der Anthologie ausklammere. Lesern von "Inspired - Magie der Muse" werden der Elf Ulpirri und der Troll Qrok bereits etwas sagen, da die beiden Beamten Nilianas Vater und ihre Familie beschützen. Die Kurzgeschichte spielt etwa zehn Jahre vor den Ereignissen im Roman. Die beiden ungleichen Freunde sind frisch von der Akademie der Musen-Polizei und tun Streifendienst im Musenviertel von Tressina City, als sie auf ein magisches Phänomen stoßen, das sie sich nicht erklären können und das sich rasant ausbreitet. Jetzt kommt es auf Qroks ausgeprägte Spürnase, Ulpirris magisches Gespür und Kombinationsgabe an, um die Epidemie aufzuhalten. Ob es ihnen gelingen wird? Die Antwort gibt es natürlich in der Anthologie. ;-) Insgesamt haben mich die 36 Kurzgeschichten (wie gesagt, meine eigene bewerte ich nicht) super unterhalten. Klar mochte ich einige ein wenig mehr als andere, aber es war eine sehr gelungene Mischung an unterschiedlichen, abwechslungsreichen Kurzgeschichten, die mich zum Teil wirklich überraschen konnten. Daher vergebe ich gerne 5 Sterne. :)...more
Dieses Buch war ein Geschenk. Das muss man vorweg sagen, denn von mir aus hätte ich nie zu diesem Geschichtenbüchlein gegriffen. Doch die Schenkerin wDieses Buch war ein Geschenk. Das muss man vorweg sagen, denn von mir aus hätte ich nie zu diesem Geschichtenbüchlein gegriffen. Doch die Schenkerin war so begeistert, dass ich dem Buch auf jedem Fall eine Chance geben wollte. Es fing auch gar nicht so schlecht an. Die Idee, dass der junge Mann (und Ich-Erzähler) Demian zum Psychiater Jorge geht - der natürlich so heißt, wie der Autor und Psychiater Jorge Bucay - und der Autor sozusagen einmal die Perspektive wechselt und in die Haut eines Patienten schlüpft, klang interessant. Auch die Geschichten, die der Psychiater Jorge erzählt, um Demian zum Nachdenken und zu neuen Erkenntnissen bezüglicher seiner persönlichen Probleme zu bringen, waren nicht schlecht. Doch das Konzept reicht nicht, um Leser wie mich auf Dauer zu fesseln. Ich möchte von einem Buch gefesselt und unterhalten werden - das schaffen die Geschichten, die im Buch erzählt werden zwar -, aber dies sind Geschichten, die der Autor größtenteils gesammelt und nicht selbst erfunden hat. Es wird rasch deutlich, dass Jorge Bucay selbst kein großer Erzähler ist. Nicht nur der Sprachstil ist holprig, auch die Figurenentwicklung und besonders die Figurenidentifikation sind in meinen Augen unausgereift. Das Buch besteht im Grunde nur aus einer Aneinanderreihung von Therapiesitzungen, in denen erzählt wird. Eingeleitet werden die Erzählungen immer durch (zu) knappe Gedanken des Ich-Erzählers und Dialoge zwischen Arzt und Patient, durch die ich als Leserin die Figuren jedoch nur sehr oberflächlich kennen lerne und es nicht vermag, mit Demian Sympathie aufzubringen. Im Grunde kam es mir so vor, dass dem Autor nur darum ging, einige seiner Lieblingsgeschichten in einem Büchlein zu sammeln und durch irgendeinen roten Faden zu verbinden. Und das wird schnell langweilig. Da ich selbst Autorin bin, lege ich besonders auf die Figurenentwicklung und -identifikation sowie auf neue Ideen Wert, doch damit geizt Jorge Bucay. Nach dem ersten Drittel war daher der Reiz dieser Geschichtensammlung für mich verflogen und am Ende war ich nur noch froh, dass es irgendwann vorbei war. Fazit: Von mir gibt es 3 Sterne für die Geschichten im Buch, aber nur 1 Stern für die Rahmenhandlung. Macht insgesamt 2 Sterne....more

Es kommen nicht nur Animant zu Wort, sondern auch ihre gute Freundin Elisa, ihr Verlobter Thomas und ein paar weitere Figuren. Wer nach "Animant Crumbs Staubchonik" sich gefragt hat, wie es mit den Figuren weitergeht, der bekommt hier Antworten. Für Fans des historischen Romans ein Must-Have....more

Mir gefällt die Idee der verknüpften Kurzgeschichten und der Rundreise durch die verschiedenen Welten, die dadurch viel Abwechslung boten. Auch fand ich es toll, ein paar meiner Lieblingsfiguren aus den "Magnus Chase"-Romanen mal ohne Magnus in Aktion zu erleben. Contra: Die Kurzgeschichten sind doch sehr unterschiedlich, von actionreich, über herrlich verrückt oder berührend bis hin zu schlichtweg abstrus. Auch hatte ich nicht zu jeder Perspektivfigur den gleichen Bezug - ein paar von ihnen waren mir schlichtweg egal (Amir) oder haben mich einfach nur genervt (Mallory und Halfborn). Daher konnte ich nicht alle Geschichten gleichermaßen genießen. Am besten gefielen mir Hearthstones, Blitzens und T.J.s Stories. Insgesamt vergebe ich 3,5 Sterne, wieder aufgerundet auf 4 Sterne....more
