This was snarky and made me laugh a lot while reading it, but Norris was such a hard character to actually like. He was snarky about the "mean" popular people in a way that was mean himself, he always said the first thing he thought (which was usually not nice), even when people were being nice to him - and his romance with Aarti did nothing for me. I loved Liam, though, he was sweet and funny and sometimes profound. I would definitely try another book from this author, but this one just didn't do it for me. ...more

In volume 10, we saw Molly's struggle with her family and how the Roanoke campers have become her family. In this one, Molly, concerned about going home to a crappy family, makes a deal with the voice of an unseen entity, to slow time down at camp "a little" so she can stay longer. Of course, hijinks ensue. One thing I especially love about Lumberjanes as a series, is even after they make mistakes, the other campers continue to support and help them and work through their feelings, instead of being angry or bitter. After reading, I had closed it, and looked back at the cover and just have to say how much I appreciate this cover. ...more

Creepy, since I’m not a child I wouldn’t have exactly called it scary, and my 5 year old didn’t seem particularly afraid. But the plot was interesting (instead of falling asleep to it, my 5 year old kept staying up to hear more and begging for it), the addition of the main character’s stories was a fun component, and there was even a twist I didn’t see coming, and typically in a middle grade I’d expect to. ...more
