Absolutely adorable, this was heart breaking and full of action and culture. The magic system was really interesting, Kai was the coolest companion, and I loved seeing her deal with what happens when you do bad things for what feels like a good reason. This is another one for fans of Aru Shah and Percy Jackson, with mythology, family, and a shapeshifting companion....more

Full of future sight, first love, friendship and all the feels, this was so good from start to finish. I absolutely loved Celia and her Grandma’s relationship, as well as her friendships, they added so much to the story, even when the focus was on Celia and Jeffrey. The idea of fate and what seers must witness and what they can change was so interesting, and I loved that they had their magic book full of notes from past family generations. Recommend for fans of magical middle grade like: The Girl Who Drank the Moon, Cattywampus, and , Bayou Magic....more

Unfortunately this was not for me, the darkness was a little to gross and a little too weird. However, it was very compelling and I kept picking it up and I’m glad I finished it to see the end. I think that if you aren’t as squeamish as I am, it might be a better fit....more

This was super fun, and I loved the messages that the book is sending about friendship, what it means to be a girl, and kicking monster butt. This was perfect for fans of the author’s other book Undead Girl Gang, or of Babysitter’s Coven and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (especially if you loved the Scoobies). I was not expecting the ending at all, but I think it was perfect. Do not listen to whoever is shelving this as a graphic novel, it is not. ...more

After loving the previous spooky historical fiction from this author in the past, I was very excited for this one! It being an illness that made people more violent made it a different kind of scary from the monster vibes in the other books, but still chilling. I loved the daughter, and I was so curious to know more about the Kitsune that helped her, so I wish we’d found out more there. Overall a solid scary read that definitely resonates strongly given current events....more

It was everything I'd hoped for, as well as the things I didn't even know I was hoping for. With such a stunning cover, this immediately piqued my interest and when I saw that it included a zombie-like blight eating through crops before turning for animals and people, I knew I had to read it. This was perfectly fast-paced and easy to read, I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down. The characters were believable, even with the horror filled fictional world, and I was rooting for Wren throughout the whole thing. She was complicated, but also a teenager driven by her emotional side. Plus, there was a zombie dog that never really gave up it's love for it's owner. Very fun read, perfect for fans of The Bone Houses, A House of Salt and Sorrows, and creepy, atmospheric YA....more

I really enjoyed the characters and wanted more from the romance! I can't decide which side of the triangle I'm most rooting for, but I'm here for it. I especially liked that Guinevere is flawed, she can protect herself, and she's also anxious about being found out. I am *definitely* pumped for the final installment, the ending of this one was perfection....more
