Out of His League by Caroline Richardson is a super easy to consume sports romance that definitely made me smile at various times of the book. One thing I really appreciated when reading this was how easy it was to follow the romance between Josh and Gretchen and how throughout the book, the focal point of the relationship wasn't made to be overly dramatic or over the top.
One thing that I felt about this was how different Gretchen was during the time jump. I felt that she was made confident and sure of herself in the beginning, even if it mentioned whether or not she was shy, versus what we saw in the second part where it felt like she had to hide behind everything and was scared so often. Now I'm not saying that it isn't realistic but I felt that after a part two or even the climax, characters grow, but for me, it seemed that Gretchen didn't grow as a character as much as I hoped she would have. I feel like as a climax, the situation between Josh and Gretchen was too fast to make me truly love the characters individually. Even if there was the instant connection between them from the start of the book with the coffee, I wish we saw more of that connection as well as their individual stories more.
In terms of plot for Out of His League I would have loved it if we saw more of the baseball aspect for Josh and the sommelier lifestyle for Gretchen. I think sommeliers are amazing and when I read that Gretchen was one, I was in awe. However, we really didn't get to see as much as we hoped except for the one time and I had wanted more of their own lifestyle. Even the situation with one of Josh's teammates felt really spontaneous and could have been developed a lot more.
All in all, while a terrific and fun sports romance, I would have loved to see it more developed and even longer than what it was.
Thank you again NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this was a really cute read from Talia Hibbert. As a fan of her adult romance, this YA romance was cute and fun and easy to read. Although YA isn’t really my genre anymore, I don’t have anything negative to say except how enjoyable Celine and Brad were. Going from friends to enemies to friends to lovers was so fun to read and just seeing them grow together again was amazing.

I also read this for my book club: Asians Under a Typhoon Book Club and had a fun time with my friend talking about The Love Match. If you guys want to check out our discussion and comment your own thoughts here is the link [ The Love Match live show ]
Zahra Khan is caught between wanting to save enough money for college and her dreams of writing and pleasing her mother by finding a good match in a future husband. But, when she finds Harun and Nayim, two guys with two different styles and personalities, she’s torn between her heart and her dreams.
I gave The Love Match 3.5 stars, while really enjoying the overall plot, I just found that for something advertised as romance, it wasn’t something that I was connected to. What I found most especially great was Zahra’s character growth throughout the whole book. I was impressed with how well Taslim includes culture and family as a focus but found that Zahra’s relationship with Harun and Nayim was rather redundant.
Zahra’s focus on who she is as a person and how the struggles of wanting to be more accepting in her mother’s eyes was such a pivotal point was what had my attention and I greatly appreciated and even connected to Zahra as, at the time I read this, I was her age and there were much that I could relate to.
In her focus of her romance and love triangle with Harum and Nayim, I felt that the synopsis was a little misleading in this area. I was focusing on reading about a love triangle when there really wasn’t much of a relationship between all three of them to really go on. And I found that one of the love interests wasn’t really someone I considered a “love interest” considering we never really saw the love between them in the first place.
All in all, I felt that The Love Match, while good in terms of the culture, family, and even character growth was what made me enjoy this story and I did appreciate Zahra as a character.
