Viva el arte!...more
Maravilloso. ...more
...more

HisMarcel Duchamp is to me, a never ending discovery. His thought process, and his way of thinking about art are probably my favorite aspects of him. His way of organizing, his concepts on every one of his pieces, his thoughts on the creative process, all come together in this book which is not lineal at all, I think it can accompany other books, and of course his art. I definitely will keep this very close to me. ...more

...more

Not only for the way she chose to live her life, but also for all those avant garde festivals she put together, I wonder if this festival still exists, I would have loved to live in New York in the 60s and 70s to see that. It not only portraits her work, her personality, but also the work and presence of others in her life like Nam June Paik, John Cage. Some of these anecdotes are pretty great, like when Maciunas (the Fluxus self appointed leader or something) put a protest together outside one of the avant garde festivals where other Fluxus artists were presenting their work, and some people thought it was part of the show. Crazy times, I really wish I could have seen them. Wonderful. ...more

I really enjoyed this, especially because of all the artists that I did not know about, and will keep looking for. I really love that she crosses workI really enjoyed this, especially because of all the artists that I did not know about, and will keep looking for. I really love that she crosses works not only of art, poetry and performance, but also fiction, video, and basically many forms of artistic expression. She goes through so many: From Marina Abramovich, Ana Mendietta, Yoko Ono, to Sylvia Plath and Francis Bacon (both pretty central all the way through the book); Ivy Compton Burnett, Elfride Jelineck, John Cage, Barthes, Scneemann, Alice Walker, and a long etc, made for a very great read, I love the thoughts that come with analyzing all forms of art and how entwined they are to our feelings, our lives. She does go for the cruelty, and the question of cruelty in art and all expression, and the questions she throws at you are pretty good when looking at art. Loved it. ...more
