Re-read #2 (10/31/2022) 4.5 stars
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero.
4.5 stars
That was such a messed up scary book that made me question my sanity. It’s not like I expected anything less from Penelope Douglas, her books are so addictive and always mess up with my mind. Damon’s story was really exceptional, it might be my favorite in this series so far. It gave me a huge adrenaline rush.
Damon is the most emotionally dark person in the whole series. He is the devil himself. He has the most damaged soul ever. He has been the villain in the first two books, so this is his redemption story, or not? Damon was such a confusing character and even after finishing the book, I still don’t know how I feel about him. Being inside Damon’s head was such a scary thing, and it really did mess with my mind. Winter was such an interesting character. She’s so strong, passionate, and fierce. I admired her a lot.
This book was such a scary messed up thrilling ride. I enjoyed every part of it. The alternation between the past and present was so perfect. It gave the book the perfect balance. We watch them slowly falling and chasing the thrill in the past, while hating each other and messing with each other’s mind in the present. It was just so perfect. And thanks to Penelope Douglas’ books, I decided to never ever ever go out from my house on devil’s night. I’ve become traumatized for life. Now I can’t wait to read Will’s book.
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero.

“Don’t let me go,” he whispered in my ear. “Don’t let go.”
“I’m gonna…” My mouth was so dry. “I’m gonna send you to jail.”
His lips rested against my cheek, and I thought I felt his body shake with a silent sob.
But as I fell into sleep and oblivion, his words were sharp and clear in my ear. “Then you better hope I never get out.”

Book 2 was not my favorite. Honestly, 1 and 3 were the best. I say just read book 3. Go for it! lol

Shaikha- yes, but trust me it was done so well. I was so into their story in the past as well as the future. It wasn’t the annoying kind of alternating chapters if you get what I mean.
